Subpar generic sitcom that relatively succeeded because there were fewer channels imo.

by Anonymousreply 4January 17, 2023 12:02 AM

R4 I revisited it yesterday and it was interesting soothing and mildly funny.

by Anonymousreply 5January 17, 2023 5:33 PM

by Anonymousreply 15January 24, 2023 9:34 PM

Brend-a!

by Anonymousreply 16January 28, 2023 1:14 AM

I would not have predicted that Brenda would grow up to be one of the best middle-aged actresses in Hollywood.

by Anonymousreply 17January 28, 2023 1:27 AM

Brendad

by Anonymousreply 18January 28, 2023 1:36 AM

No doubt r17. She sucked as Brenda on the show.

by Anonymousreply 19January 28, 2023 9:29 PM

I really enjoyed the first 3 seasons. Things took a slide when Countess Vag showed up.

by Anonymousreply 20May 29, 2023 3:18 PM

by Anonymousreply 25May 29, 2023 4:05 PM

This evening I’ll watch Mary treat Brenda like shit.

by Anonymousreply 26May 29, 2023 7:58 PM

The 1985 Christmas episode is on Pluto now.

by Anonymousreply 27August 24, 2023 11:51 PM

The toy store episode with Pee Wee Herman is hilarious. Oh MaaaaaaaaaaaaRY!

by Anonymousreply 28August 24, 2023 11:54 PM

Mary kept Bren-da on a short choke collar. She and Lester punished her for being female.

by Anonymousreply 29August 24, 2023 11:57 PM

Usually in these sitcoms the straight man is supporting. But on this show Marla Gibbs played straight man to Jackee Harry and she did it brilliantly. When sitcom actors could ACT. Sandra Clark was an absolute riot and the fictional character shares my namesake.

by Anonymousreply 30August 25, 2023 12:38 AM

It’s the best show ever.

by Anonymousreply 31August 25, 2023 12:57 AM

I watch it every evening on Pluto Black Comedies

by Anonymousreply 32September 29, 2023 10:38 PM

R5 Marla Gibbs and Jackee Harry had great comedic timing though.

I realized Regina King was a great actress from Poetic Justice. Her and Tupac Shakur acted circles around ajanet. They actually seemed like real people, real young black people living and working South Central. Poetic Justice was really brought down by Janet’s bad acting.

by Anonymousreply 34September 29, 2023 10:49 PM

I loved Brenda. Smart, nice girl with classic 80s hair and outfits. Go, Brenda!

Sign of the times: Jackee looked fat-ish to my 80s teenaged eyes; now, with morbid obesity everywhere, I realize how slim and trim she basically was.

by Anonymousreply 35September 29, 2023 10:50 PM

R35 She is a big bone curvy woman who always wore her weight well.

by Anonymousreply 36September 29, 2023 10:53 PM

Guuurrrl, you just asking for the wrath of Janbot, aren't you?

by Anonymousreply 37September 29, 2023 10:54 PM

R37 lowkey. I haven’t seen him in a while. I hope he is well.

by Anonymousreply 38September 30, 2023 1:47 AM

I was just watching Karen Valentine in "Gidget Grows Up". I had no idea she was in "Room 227", but I haven't seen that since I was a kid.

by Anonymousreply 39September 30, 2023 2:03 AM

R38, he was in the NSYNC reunion thread dragging bitches left and right who came after his queen.

by Anonymousreply 40September 30, 2023 2:34 AM

I enjoy relaxing in my home watching 227 reruns
