I love being sober.

Why did they stop putting smart manly men on television. I want to rim him and he be my white daddy.

by Anonymousreply 1January 16, 2023 5:18 AM

I always had a thing for Niles.

by Anonymousreply 2January 16, 2023 5:20 AM

I'm confused. Is this a real trailer?

by Anonymousreply 3January 16, 2023 5:32 AM

It's not real, boo.

by Anonymousreply 4January 16, 2023 5:33 AM

R4 ☹️

by Anonymousreply 5January 16, 2023 5:40 AM

It had several hilarious gay-themed episodes.

The Matchmaker: Frasier invites a man, Tom, to his apartment, thinking that the man will hit it off with Daphne. It turns out that Tom is gay, and he's attracted to Frasier. Here's a three minute clip of the funniest part.

Frasier and Niles go to a gay bar. This is one of the funniest scenes I've ever seen on TV. Here's a three-minute clip of the best part.

After the scene at R7, the local gossip column reports that Frasier was spotted at a gay bar. Frasier addresses the rumors on his radio show:

“Allow me to explain myself… See, I popped into bad Billy’s yesterday, looking for a man that I was hoping would be in the bathroom. I then had a drink with my furniture polisher and then I left. As for how I ended up in another man's (his brother Niles') shorts well… That is nobody’s business but my own.“

After Frasier has been outed on his own radio show, he is asked out on a date by Alistair (played by Patrick Stewart). Frasier isn't gay, but Alistair is hosting a party for the cast of the opera. It's an offer that Frasier can't refuse.

Fraiser had the finest writers/writing on TV. I do not believe any other show will ever be as well done. The all-out best.

by Anonymousreply 11January 16, 2023 8:51 AM

It was Gilles r10. Yahoo got that wrong. They had a hilarious ongoing joke about the proper pronunciation. I love this episode.

by Anonymousreply 12January 16, 2023 11:07 AM

Much of the writing staff did " Hot in Cleveland."

by Anonymousreply 13January 16, 2023 1:20 PM

Wait till you discover Seinfeld.

by Anonymousreply 14January 16, 2023 1:23 PM

While I realize it's not a "real" trailer for the show, is it genuine in the sense that it was actually produced by the show as a joke? It seems like it's all newly filmed, not old clips put together.

by Anonymousreply 15January 16, 2023 1:31 PM

Thank you, Current Mrs. Grammer, making a special guest appearance as the OP.

by Anonymousreply 16January 16, 2023 2:09 PM

Finally getting a decent haircut and some blonde highlights after the first couple of seasons was the smartest thing Kelsey Grammer ever did. He looked quite hot.

by Anonymousreply 17January 16, 2023 2:20 PM

Going back to this perfection. Yum!

R14 Been discovered that. I am a new yorker after all. Fraiser might be funnier.

by Anonymousreply 19January 16, 2023 2:23 PM

The maker of this did a great job of pulling together footage from recentish projects by the cast.

[quote]The Frasier, Guy, Niles Three' Company type farce episode made my teenage nether regions tingle!

That’s pronounced Guy.

by Anonymousreply 23January 16, 2023 4:29 PM

In the episode, his name is Gilles. Niles keeps trying to get Frasier to pronounce it correctly.

by Anonymousreply 24January 16, 2023 4:38 PM

That was the joke, r23.

by Anonymousreply 25January 16, 2023 4:47 PM

R24, every reference I can find to this show refers to his character as Guy.

Yes, it wasn’t pronounced like we would say guy, but that’s the spelling.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 26January 16, 2023 4:49 PM

Wasn't it pronounced like "ghee" is pronounced? That's usually how you pronounce "Guy" in French. "Gilles" is pronounced "Jhee" as in the way the letter "G" is pronounced is English, except with an elongated "z" sound at the start...so maybe "zzzJhee."

I thought they kept pronouncing it "ghee" on the episode. I could be wrong, I just caught part of that ep the other day on Pluto and had never seen it prior to that.

by Anonymousreply 27January 16, 2023 4:57 PM

I envy you. I would love to see that episode with a “never seen it before” spin.

by Anonymousreply 28January 16, 2023 5:07 PM

It’s guy; not gilles. Pronounced ghee…

R34 just curious. What do you find funny?

by Anonymousreply 36January 16, 2023 10:24 PM

I fall asleep to it. It's very gentle. There's a whole reddit devoted to Frasier Sleepers

by Anonymousreply 37January 16, 2023 10:36 PM

Ha, r37. I did the other night. My "fall asleep to" tv show (and has been for decades) is Forensic Files.

Yup, I'm weird. It's the narrator's voice.

by Anonymousreply 38January 16, 2023 10:39 PM

You're right r27. It was "ghee" which I thought was properly spelled "Gilles" Thank you!

by Anonymousreply 39January 16, 2023 11:17 PM

Give it longer r34. The first season isn't the funniest to me either. It gets a lot better.

by Anonymousreply 40January 16, 2023 11:20 PM

R14 I discovered Seinfeld when it started. It cannot and will not ever hold a candle to Frasier. The End.

by Anonymousreply 41January 16, 2023 11:29 PM

So ok, us Brits will take the rap for exporting James Corden to your shores, but my god, you got a great deal when lovely Jane Leeves travelled over there!

by Anonymousreply 42January 16, 2023 11:34 PM

Take him back NOW R42. NOW

by Anonymousreply 43January 16, 2023 11:39 PM

I left my appreciation for Seinfeld in the 90s.

Torture to watch now.

Frasier I could (and do) watch all day.

by Anonymousreply 44January 16, 2023 11:51 PM

The mean looking scenes of Kelsey in op's parody come from Boss as the mayor of Chicago. He was superb.

I believe the clips of David Hyde Pierce are from a real change of pace role he played. It was also pretty good.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think comic writing genius Joe Keenan was on board for the first season. Maybe not even for the first two seasons. His presence definitely made a difference in the quality of the show.

by Anonymousreply 47January 17, 2023 12:42 AM

Grammer and Hyde-Pierce were casting perfection. Frasier was an all-around superb production.

Seinfeld was funnier to New Yorkers than Frasier. Just as New Yorkers find Friends hilarious.

by Anonymousreply 54January 17, 2023 3:17 AM

I cannot believe anyone finds Friends funny. That said if it is NYers that makes perfect sense.

by Anonymousreply 55January 17, 2023 5:23 AM

R54 That's idiotic.

by Anonymousreply 56January 17, 2023 8:22 AM

Frasier was so forced.

It really did insist upon itself.

by Anonymousreply 57January 17, 2023 8:42 AM

Kelsey and Harriet "Bebe" Harris were students at Juilliard together.

by Anonymousreply 60January 17, 2023 11:39 PM

Was there ever a scene with Lilith and Bebe - that would be funny.

by Anonymousreply 61January 17, 2023 11:44 PM

Nostalgia is a strange thing. I wonder if it's not best to let some iconic shows just remain in the past.

I was watching The West Wing box set the other day and sure you could make a new series of that too, like Frasier.

But, I personally, wouldn't.
