Ari Onassis liked to beat up his trade and other gems

I'm reading The Good Son and oh boy does it have some tea! -Jackie slept with Bobby after JFK died -Ari O was bi and after his son Alexander died in a plane crash, he consoled himself by sleeping with young Italians and beating them up -Ari liked to cross dress -Jackie told Christina O "Nobody likes a fat girl with food on her chin, no matter how rich she is" (I've read elsewhere that Christina's first husband was a chubby chaser which broke her heart, and she had extravagances like flying Diet Coke in cans on a private plane to Switzerland from NY) -Jackie told a friend she was worried that without a male influence in his life, John John would end up "a fruit" -Jackie took syringes of amphetamines from Dr Feelgood and she and Ari took some sort of sex enhancing drugs together (wonder what that was at the time) -When JFK Jr didn't do well at Collegiate Prep Jackie sent him to the psychiatrist and said she figured it was anxiety that was messing with his schoolwork, and she said, "Hopefully there's a pill for that"

by Anonymousreply 57May 24, 2023 10:55 PM

Wasn't Ari a kept boytoy in his youth?

by Anonymousreply 1January 12, 2023 1:40 PM

@R1 I haven't heard this! Tell me more. Apparently he loved to talk about the Greek tradition of man on man love so seems fitting.

by Anonymousreply 2January 12, 2023 2:07 PM

Jackie was never the grand lady she's portrayed as being. She was more like a street fighter who went to Miss Porters than a demure ingenue. She proved that she was a very calculating and manipulative person - she and her sister, Lee, were not that different, and we've seen what a colossal bitch Lee was with the additional decades of observation.

She and Onassis both got what they wanted from the relationship.

by Anonymousreply 3January 12, 2023 2:46 PM

Talk about nepo babies.

by Anonymousreply 4January 12, 2023 2:58 PM

R2. Found this in an online article about Ari

In numerous personal accounts, Onassis spoke openly about a homosexual relationship he had with an older Turkish lieutenant that secured his father’s freedom as well as some of his family’s lost holdings in Smyrna.

by Anonymousreply 5January 12, 2023 3:10 PM

Too many unlikely sensational revelations.

Notify us if these are corroborated--otherwise we're in Boze Hadleigh territory.

by Anonymousreply 6January 12, 2023 3:11 PM

I'd have long talks with the girls when they were young, R3.

by Anonymousreply 7January 12, 2023 3:17 PM

@R6 the author is Christopher Andersen. Is he notably unreliable? I just listened to Rosemarie Terenzio's book and she took down Edward Klein as a fraud author. Don't really know about CA.

Jackie O was part of a family of desperate wannabes who fancied themselves aristocrats, but were already poor relations that wealthier relatives invite out of pity by the time she married the nouveau riche Jack Kennedy. The trade off in their marriage was evident: she helped to lend some old money gravitas to him and his political career, and he rescued her from gracelessly tumbling down the social scale and having to work to feed herself.

When he was killed, she needed protection and the repulsively wealthy Komodo dragon known as Ari wanted to make a display of power by marrying The World's Most Famous Widow. He expected to be admired and when he realized that she only cared about his money, he became extremely angry because, obviously, he didn't have mirrors at home and was utterly delusional regarding his nasty, despotic, mean and horrible personality. The only person that could be willing to put up with him was Maria Callas, who was fascinated by his power and hadn't been treated so badly since her mother forced her into prostitution as a teenager; thus, she fell in love with him. Jackie, on the other hand, was aware of her own power and her only concern was to avoid divorcing too soon, to avoid losing the millions he had promised her. Luckily, he died before their divorce could go forward and she hit the jackpot.

Regarding Christina, she was just as repulsively ugly as her father in every single sense, but had been traumatized by her own mother's contemptuous treatment of her due to her hideousness. In spite of the fact that she was a heartless, ruthless cunt, she desperately wanted to be admired and loved as a beautiful, desirable woman and that was her one and only vulnerability, which several gigolos exploited to their advantage. She was insanely envious of Jackie because she was graceful and a style icon, as opposed to an ugly, fat, slovenly blob like herself.

R2, Onassis was indeed bisexual, but I strongly doubt that anyone would have ever wanted to sleep with him unless HE was the one paying generously. He was repulsively ugly his entire life and saw everyone as a tradeable commodity: he paid for wives and both female and male lovers, who he forced to do as he pleased in exchange for money. That is precisely why he soon grew to hate Jackie: she refused to give in to his demands, as he was not used to being told 'NO' after he opened his wallet. His only somewhat human relationship was with La Callas, whose talent and popularity he greatly envied because an ignorant boor like him, couldn't understand what was so great about opera and couldn't believe that there could be people who are loved because of their artistic abilities. A vulgar, utilitarian capitalist like him thought that everything can be bought, and it angered him to realize that without money, people saw him for what he was: a hideous snake oil salesman who got lucky. That is why he constantly bullied and humiliated her.

I'm interested to know more about this author. He doesn't seem to be another Darwin P who tries to pass fiction for fact, but some of the Ari entries sound a bit suspicious.

I love Onassis stories. OT but, that Shahs of Sunset dude, Reza Farahan, saw him recently in WEHO. He looks just like an old Ari Onassis. That milk is spoiled, that’s for sure.

by Anonymousreply 11May 20, 2023 9:06 PM

Maria Callas' personal correspondence which was make public not very long ago confirm that Ari beat, drugged and sexually abused her.

I think Ari and Jackie were a perfect match, both scrappy social climbers. She had class and he had money 💕😍💲

by Anonymousreply 13May 20, 2023 9:40 PM

Jackie had a type, rich. She went from Onassis to this troll...

Well R14, Maurice Tempelsman was FAR less horrendously ugly than Onassis, and he is a brilliant businessman who made sure she would never have to worry about money again. Jackie was a cold, passionless, mediocre, superficial and status-obsessed old cow, but by most accounts she did get along really well with Maurice. I suppose that this is because unlike it happened with Jack Kennedy and Ari Onassis, she didn't initiate a relationship with him out of necessity - they both knew each other very well, had considerable affinity and since he saw her as more than a trophy, she grew up to love him as much as a selfish, money-hungry bitch like her could ever love anyone.

by Anonymousreply 15May 20, 2023 9:58 PM

R9, Everything you wrote from "an ignorant boor" on fits DJT perfectly.

by Anonymousreply 16May 20, 2023 10:08 PM

@r15 " by most accounts she did get along really well with Maurice"

She took one look at his portfolio and it was love at first sight 😍

by Anonymousreply 17May 20, 2023 10:19 PM

John John threw Tempelsman out of Jackie's apartment the day after she died. Not everyone loved Maurice 🙄

by Anonymousreply 18May 20, 2023 10:22 PM

Her $26 M from Onassis didn't repel Tempy either.

by Anonymousreply 19May 20, 2023 10:22 PM

Whoever it is posting here that has an axe to to grind with Jackie On Assistance, you’re warming my cold, dead heart

by Anonymousreply 20May 20, 2023 10:24 PM

^ Nobody liked that bitch 😠

by Anonymousreply 21May 20, 2023 10:29 PM

Jackie to Carly Simon:

You’ve got to marry up,” Onassis would tell her, Simon said. “You’ve got to find somebody who's gonna make your lineage stronger, who's going to give you the best possible children, who's going to support you, who's going to have a great position in life in his workplace.”

Vapid Jackie. What a boor.

by Anonymousreply 22May 23, 2023 1:00 AM

[quote]When JFK Jr didn't do well at Collegiate Prep Jackie sent him to the psychiatrist and said she figured it was anxiety that was messing with his schoolwork, and she said, "Hopefully there's a pill for that"

This was a very common attitude at the time. There was a pill for everything.

by Anonymousreply 23May 23, 2023 1:05 AM

Jackie was a legend. That's why we're still talking about the bitch 30 years after she kicked.

R19 Please come to dinner. I will serve something wonderful and you can just regale us with your stories. You're to the point style mixed in with fabulous imagery (Jackie as Porter's grad street fighter and Ari as a Komodo dragon) are wonderful. Another example of why I have been enjoying DL since the dark ages.

by Anonymousreply 25May 23, 2023 1:09 AM

Oops meant R9 not R19. My mistake. R19 your invitation to dinner to stands.

[quote] “You’ve got to find somebody who's gonna make your lineage stronger, who's going to give you the best possible children, who's going to support you, who's going to have a great position in life in his workplace.”

Jackie was a woman of her time. This was a common way of looking at the world and relationships for women of her era. We can't judge people by our modern standards.

by Anonymousreply 27May 23, 2023 1:13 AM

Who aspires to be a legend? Particularly if it involves sucking off Ari for $$$.

by Anonymousreply 28May 23, 2023 1:15 AM

How did Jackie’s lovers know she was having an orgasm?

She dropped her nail file.

by Anonymousreply 29May 23, 2023 1:16 AM

Had lunch with Maurice Tempelsman. A totally classy guy - to an almost laughable degree. Very much tried to be the Old World gentleman - even though he was a Jewish diamond dealer in NY. Class act - like Jackie. With “act” being as important a part of it as class.

by Anonymousreply 30May 23, 2023 1:20 AM

^^ I met a guy like that while visiting a friend who was drying out in a fabulous private Swiss clinic.

The gentleman was amusingly gentile. Over-exaggerated in the extreme. I learned his Saudi family had parked him there. for15 years and counting. Crazy as a loon.

by Anonymousreply 31May 23, 2023 1:29 AM

R30 I feel like that happens a bit here in the South. The ones who are so keep on protecting certain Southern aristocratic tradition, like Debutante Balls, are now more likely to be a successful oral surgeon with no lineage to speak of.

by Anonymousreply 32May 23, 2023 1:31 AM

I’ve posted this before.

The editor Leo Lerman was a close friend of Maria Callas and social friends with the Bouvier sisters.

Ari started sniffing around Maria Callas again soon after the wedding, because he liked anal, Callas would do anal, and Jackie wouldn’t.

On November 22, 1968 Ari came to Callas’ house to try to fuck her. Her effeminate butler let Onassis inside and left him to get Callas. Alone, Onassis undressed. He didn’t think Callas would be escorted into the room by the butler, who started shrieking and flailing his arms about.

Maria Callas threw him out, yelling at him outside-“how dare come here on the 5th anniversary of your 2nd wife’s first husband’s death!”

After Onassis died and Jackie and Christina were tussling over the estate, Leo Lerman was at a party with Pamela Harriman, when the subject of the Onassis estate came up.

“Jackie was stupid,” Pamela Harriman said. “Everyone knows Greeks don’t share with outsiders.”

R15- You've just said some VICIOUS things about our Jackie O

🙃 PLEASE please sit next to me!

by Anonymousreply 34May 23, 2023 1:52 AM

R27 Women today could stand to consider these terms when choosing a partner instead of laying with any man child that shows them attention and makes empty promises. It’s not that you shouldn’t marry for love, but love isn’t enough and never was.

by Anonymousreply 35May 23, 2023 1:58 AM

r35 you are absolutely correct. Lots of intelligent women settle for men who are totally unsuitable and pretty awful, not to mention reproduce with them so they are tied to the assholes for life. Jackie's advice was sound.

by Anonymousreply 36May 23, 2023 2:06 AM

The frauen have missed the point. Jackie's primary message was marry for money. Disregard any decent partner who doesn't have $$$$$.

by Anonymousreply 37May 23, 2023 3:18 AM

So Caroline married the underemployed “artist” as a fuck you to Jackie?

by Anonymousreply 38May 23, 2023 3:31 AM

I don’t know if I’d describe Ed Schlossberg that way. The guy is a brilliant designer, and his company has designed important work like the Ellis Island historical site and numerous projects for the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I have heard is a bit of a bastard.

by Anonymousreply 39May 23, 2023 3:54 AM

Ari so loathed Jackie over time that he tipped off the Press where to find her sunning nude on the beach. Those published photos were great but they're not easily found online today in this, the era of prisspots.

by Anonymousreply 40May 23, 2023 8:26 PM

Oh, you read a tacky, unauthorized biography about three people who are far too dead to sue.

How riveting!

by Anonymousreply 41May 23, 2023 8:53 PM

Άρη η Νεράιδα.

(Ari the Fairy.)

by Anonymousreply 42May 23, 2023 8:56 PM

Ari did tip off the paps that caught Jackie nude. He did that because she was costing him a fortune in legal fees, suing Ron Galella and others.

He figured if she appeared nude in a tabloid nothing else would seem so shocking and invasive and she would stop freaking out over photographers.

Instead Jackie doubled down and demanded he sue ever photographer and publication involved. Then Rose Kennedy started bitching-telling Jackie she wasn’t thinking about her children’s legacy posing nude and loudly asking questions about the security Onassis was supposed to be providing.

We just watched The Greek Tycoon (1978) expecting it to be a camp fest based on Ari and Jackie, but in fact it's quite entertaining. Quinn delivers.

I've not read this book. I knew about a lot of this from when I read a Bio about Christina Onassis, but this sounds interesting as well. I never thought Jackie was all that great ( although she did have style). She had balls though to marry a man like AO. Lol, I guess it was worth it for the money.

by Anonymousreply 49May 24, 2023 10:09 AM

Maurice Tempelsman was still married to Lilly Bucholz while he lived with Jackie, and I can't imagine his being "kicked out of the apartment" was much more than "go back home, Maurice."

There's also the matter of Maurice supposedly tripling Jackie's already impressive wealth when they were together, yet there being nothing left over for a charity she wanted to fund after her death, at least according to Maurice, who was executor. I'm guessing there may have been reasons for why he was occasionally disliked.

by Anonymousreply 50May 24, 2023 10:30 AM

This has turned into an interesting thread. All I ever really knew about Jackie the 'image' that has been portrayed. These posts are fascinating to me - and no, I'm not being sarcastic.

by Anonymousreply 55May 24, 2023 10:57 AM

R55: this is the caption to this picture, taken from ‘The Good Son’; but it didn’t identify the old gal:

[quote] “Behave yourself, young man.” During a King Kamehameha Day visit to Honolulu’s Iolani Palace, a stern Jackie warned John to calm down—or else.”

by Anonymousreply 56May 24, 2023 11:00 AM

R56, hooray for Jackie! If only more mothers would do the same when their offspring are carrying on and annoying others, the world would be a much pleasanter place.
