Looking him up he played the Doctor to Roy Scheider in All That Jazz. He was very good in that role. Beyond that he's unknown to me.
Dr. Ballinger : Mr. Gideon is having severe attacks of angina that could lead to a massive coronary.
Joe Gideon : Oh, shit! I gotta get to rehearsals. I'm fine. What do doctors know?
Dr. Ballinger : About angina, a *little* more than show people, Mr. Gideon.

Had a gay affair in 1980 with someone associated with "The Shadow Box" the telefilm he starred in and played a gay man. Maybe he was only doing it to bring depth to his role?

Best known to me for his role in the NBC miniseries "Celebrity."

His work on Passions can be glimpsed at the link below.
The first segment is the section with *checks notes* the witch and her talking doll.
Ben's character, a drunk rich guy who Ben appears to be playing as a Datalounger, shows up around 5:30 in a scene opposite Susan Lucci's ungrateful bitch daughter Liza.

Awww, that’s a shame. And I just saw on the news he worked a Dunkin’ Donuts drive thru yesterday. He was also sensational in that Good Will Hunting movie.

Ben Masters in the back on the left, directly behind Christopher Plummer in "the Shadow Box"
He played Plummer's lover while Joanne Woodward played his wife. Paul Newman directed.

When I saw the headline I thought it was Ben Masters that messy gay pron person from New York that got fired from Cocky Boys.

Wondering why he seemed to stop acting after Passions - guess that explains it. He was still so sexy in his 50s

It seemed like that show just ended but damn it was 15 years ago

In the '90s he played the work-obsessed husband that Judith Light cheats on in "Lady Killer." When Light rededicates herself to the marriage, her deranged side piece, Jack Wagner, retaliates with a rampage of sexual, psychological and physical violence.

Weird because I have an old interview he did on one of my old VHS tapes (yes I'm that old) - he was on Entertainment Tonight being interviewed about his new role as a Doctor on the medical drama "Heartbeat"
and he says "My brother-in-law is a doctor .... " maybe that was a slip of the tongue and he was talking about the brother of his partner - as there is no evidence he was ever married,

They kept their relationship very private, but Ben dated Tracey Ross for a few years after the show ended. They were a fun couple. Ben sort of "disappeared", probably because of his illness. He was a great guy, probably should have had a bigger career. He loved his role on Passions, just totally had fun with it and never looked down on the material. Such a sweetheart.

He was referring to his sister's husband.

He was *very* good as the lead detective in the Ted Bundy movie THE DELIBERATE STRANGER. (Mark Harmon played Bundy)

[R21] Tracey Ross ? Is that the same person as actress Tracey Ellis Ross (Diana's daughter) ?
by Anonymous | reply 24 | January 14, 2023 3:06 PM |
Travis Schuldt and Natalie Zea said on their Passions podcast that cast members lost contact with Ben years ago.

R24 No. Actress,Tracey Ross, from Passions is a different person.
Here's a pic of Tracey and Ben attending the 7th Season Kick-Off Party for Passions in 2005. They always looked like they were having fun.
