Wow no Michelle Williams. She really fucked herself not going supporting
by Anonymous | reply 14 | January 11, 2023 2:25 PM |
Yes but Ana de Armas is NOT getting an Oscar nom for that drek, michelle probably won't win the oscar but she'll still get nominated
by Anonymous | reply 15 | January 11, 2023 2:29 PM |
Williams trying to get a lead Oscar when she had that supporting prize locked down in an incredibly weak field is one of the stupidest Oscar campaign decisions in years.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | January 11, 2023 2:33 PM |
When I saw the movie I basically agreed that she was a lead performance. It would have been category cheating to put her in supporting.
Not saying she shouldn’t have done that if she REALLY wanted that Oscar, but…
by Anonymous | reply 17 | January 11, 2023 2:40 PM |
Yeah, I still think Williams will make it instead of one of the others.

Evan Peter’s for Dahmer, I assume.

LOVE the Sebastian Stan snub in the Limited Actor field.

Why does Ana de Armas keep getting nominated for that shit?

I'm sure Imedla Staunton is smashing plates and dishes this morning.

His peter, of course.

Love that Severance is getting recognized. It's the smartest TV I've seen in many years.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | January 11, 2023 10:29 PM |
Thank god Michelle Williams was snubbed. Her performance was a crock of shit, all LOOK AT ME, I’M ACTING stuff. And she looked downright creepy in close-ups.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | January 11, 2023 10:33 PM |
R14 why do you people keep saying this? They tried putting her in supporting but it was denied.
She is very clearly the lead, there is no arguing that when you watch this movie. You can argue it with some past "fraud", but in some cases there is no going around it.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | January 12, 2023 1:58 PM |
No, Michelle Williams decided to campaign as Lead months ago. This has been well-reported. The studio honored her request and submitted her for the SAG Awards in lead. She could have decided to go Supporting and no one would have blinked an eye.
And Williams is not very clearly the lead. That's absurd. Gabriel LaBalle is. The film is entirely from the point of view of Sammy Fabelman, and LaBelle plays him for almost all of the movie.
You can make the case that Williams's character is important enough to be considered a lead, but in terms of screen time she only appears in about a third of the movie, and she disappears for much of the last third. The whole sequence at high school? She barely appears at all. The final scenes in Los Angeles? She is only shown in a photograph. That's not very clearly a leading role.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | January 12, 2023 2:39 PM |
Yes. They made it sound like a choice. It wasn’t. She was not getting nominated at all if she tried Supporting so she “decided” to go Lead.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | January 12, 2023 2:43 PM |
R29, so now Michelle Williams didn't decide to go Lead, she only pretended that it was her decision because she knew she wouldn't get nominated in Supporting if she campaigned there?
That's certainly a theory....

R21 She is sucking someone off. Blonde was dogshit her performance was overrated.

[quote]why do you people keep saying this? They tried putting her in supporting but it was denied.
Whut?
They decide how they were to submit for consideration hon. There is no objective rule that "denies" people. You are just talking out of your ass r27.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | January 12, 2023 3:33 PM |
Her performance really is awful. It’s a fictional idealized version of Spielberg’s real mother who was undoubtedly an obnoxious, insufferable, selfish pain in the ass.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | January 12, 2023 7:00 PM |
It's actually a good list, minus best actress.
