Aaron Taylor-Johnson's wife Sam Taylor-Johnson met him when she had him, then a teenager, audition for a movie at her house.
The couple's relationship moved at break-neck speed, though they each insist that "no funny business" occurred on the set of the film Nowhere Boy that brought them together.
"As soon as we finished, he told me he was going to marry me," Sam recalled to Harper's Bazaar. "We had never been on a date, or even kissed."
Aaron, currently a frontrunner to be the new James Bond, chimed in, "And a year to the minute after we met, exactly one year to the minute, I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me."
Aaron Taylor-Johnson met his now-wife in 2009 on the set of the John Lennon biopic Nowhere Boy, in which Sam was his director. According to The Telegraph, however, Aaron met Sam at the audition for the role sometime in 2008. Sam recalled having Aaron audition at her home due to his limited schedule telling the Sunday Times, "It was so inconvenient. In the end, I was like, 'OK, he'll have to come to my home.' I opened my door to John Lennon. I instantly knew he was the guy."
In any case, Aaron's birthday is June 13, 1990. Depending on what month and day they started filming (or he auditioned), Aaron would have been between 18 and 19 years old to Sam's 42 at the time of their first meeting.
Aaron told Harper's Bazaar of the audition, "I remember it very, very clearly. I know exactly what she was wearing. This white shirt that she still has, that I love. It definitely changed my life, though not in the way I expected."
Aaron celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary with an Instagram post dedicated to his wife of a decade, writing on June 22, 2022, "Yesterday was the most beautiful day, summer solstice, our 10th anniversary… A decade of marriage. It was a magical unforgettable day and the sun did not stop shining on us both.. we are blessed beyond belief.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson was 20 years old when he and Sam welcomed their first child together, a daughter named Wylda Rae, in 2010. Two years later, they welcomed a second daughter named Romy Hero. Sam also has two children from her previous marriage to Jay Jopling.
"I knew instantly that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with this person," he told The Telegraph. "I knew I wanted a family with her, I knew I wanted kids, and a month later she was pregnant with our first child."
Sam Taylor-Johnson is 23 years older than Aaron Taylor-Johnson. When they met, he was between 18 and 19 years old to her 32. As of this writing, Aaron is now 32 and Sam is 55.
When asked about the age gap and differences in potential maturity levels when they met, as he was still a teenager, Aaron explained, "When I met Sam I'd already lived a life far beyond that of most of my contemporaries—I didn't relate to anyone my age. I just feel that we're on the same wavelength."
In an interview with the Sunday Times, Sam said Aaron was an "old soul" (a common refrain the younger party hears in May-December relationships), adding, "We spend every minute of the day together. My friends call him Benjamin Button because he has—on the outside—such youth, and on the inside, he is so wise and settled. He doesn't like parties. He likes being at home and cooking for the family. He likes walking the dogs. He loves his chickens—he collects the eggs and makes breakfast for everyone."

People like to talk about it. I'm like, 'Yeah, but it works better than my last marriage.' It's lasted longer than a lot of my friends' marriages."
