Was it out of desperation because she needed money or was it out of pointless stupidity, like when Cher did those infomercials?
Why did Dionne Warwick do the Psychic Friends Network back in the 90s?

She was heavily into to consulting with psychics since her career began. This was a way to monetize her interest.

In the ’90s, you got involved in the Psychic Friends Network. What encouraged that decision?
It was during a period of time when my recordings were not being played on radio as much. It was a way to earn a very, very comfortable living. It paid very well — had to keep my lights on, too. So that’s how that all began. I can’t nor would I ever think about taking it seriously. And anybody that does, you have to look at them with a jaundiced eye.

I was surprised she was still involved with the practice following the debacle that derailed her career for almost the entire span of the 1970s. The psychic recommended she add an “e” to the end of her last name and the hits immediately dried up with the sole exception of her number one hit with the Spinners.

Not a psychic, R6 - it was astrologer Linda Goodman, a bestselling author.
