Grown Ass People Obsessed With "THE CHILD"
Or Grogu or whatever that little shit is called.
I know of several people (aged 50 and above) who are simply obsessed with it.
Toys, Pops (sp?), posters...hell, even at work he is used to promote "safety."
I've never watched the Mandolorian show. What am I missing? One co-worker told me he is everything the Ewoks "wished they were." Huh?

I hate this little fucker. I had loved Star Wars since I was five years old and the original came out in 1977. Then Disney started pushing this thing and modern SW and the movies I loved from my childhood got pushed to the background to the point it's almost like they don't exist. Every bit of SW merchandise features this little bastard or characters connected to him. Even CGI Luke Skywalker is subservient to this little shit!
To answer your question OP, I don't get it either. My theory is it's connected to the Disney enfantilization (sp?) of grown adults, thinking they're showing their innocent inner child by liking this thing, Mickey Mouse, Olaf, Elmo, Pokémon, whatever. Yet these same people call someone else childish and immature for liking the works of Jim Henson, The Wizard of Oz, or the original Belgian version of The Smurfs.

Or, liking the Ewoks over this thing, to address your co-worker's asinine comment.

He’s fucking adorable. Harming and funny. I have no shame in adding to the sensation.
Werner Herzog was not wrong.

I assume OP means Funko Pops.

Werner Herzog is really over the top in his love for baby Yoda, it’s hilarious, R5

I'm not much of a Star Wars fan, but you have to admit he is absurdly cute.

I love how much Werner loves this baby! He cried when he first saw him. If you haven't watched the Mandalorian, you are missing out. I'm53, and this is the best Star Wars has ever been. Broth is not only cute, but really funny and the relationship between the two is very heartwarming.

All you twats who love that thing, cradle your mugs and use the word, "yummy" a lot.

Star Wars is nostalgia. With a baby Yoda, they have hit the nostalgia jackpot: an adorable baby version of a beloved Muppet character from the original movies. It's also interesting enough as a character without really pushing any boundaries; a baby that needs protection that we later learn is strong in his own right, and may or may not be programmed to be part of the "dark side" already.
It helps that "The Mandalorian" is a decent short-series show in and of itself, without the baby Yoda/Grogu gimmick. I have only seen the three original movies once, none of the other films, no other series, and I still enjoyed "The Mandalorian" as a stand-alone show.

The Mandalorian comes closer to capturing the spirit and sentiment of the first trilogy - or the first two films, anyway - than any of the other projects that preceded it.

Absolutely r18. It's so incredibly well done.

I think it’s a fun show but there is something infantile to me about “fandom”. I don’t litter my house or wardrobe with cheap merch or think I should be friends with everyone who likes the same TV show.

I'm not sure that any projects PRECEDED the first two films, as they were the FIRST two films.

Damn autocorrect changed Grogu to Broth. Which is actually cute, because he LOVES broth in the show.

It’s cute but I’m not buying merchandise or watching anything about it.
