I was just listening to the album this morning at the gym. 22 years later (released in 2001) I feel like it doesn’t get the respect it deserves. In retrospect it should have been a bigger hit.
I'm glad they did the album, but I didn't really connect with any of the songs as Go-Go songs. They were fine, but they felt like someone else's idea of Go-Go's songs.
Kind of the same that I felt for Liz Phair's so called "sellout" album and its follow up. It wasn't terrible but it didn't have that special "it" factor for me.
The true unsung brilliant album of the Go-Go's is "Talk Show." That was an amazing album and should have been the template to many more like it, but sadly, the band imploded around that time, and the album itself is a sore spot for the band, especially Jane Wiedlin.

It is a good album, OP. I saw them in concert on the tour for it, and got to go backstage to meet them. It was so fun. They were all adorable. Well, maybe not so much Gina.
