Dolly Parton stops touring

Almost 77 and she has now decided to stop touring. Hope she enjoys her time at home with her hubby.

Not sure why she agreed to do Miley's New Year's special live.

It was painful. She missed large chunks of her lip-sync at the beginning, which made her seem feeble and the fact that she only had two singing segments more obvious.

Dolly, we love you, don't debase yourself.

God bless her, but her vocal skills have long departed. Enjoy retirement.

I think she probably agreed to it before realizing she couldn't perform well enough, r1. It reminded me of the Neil Diamond NYE appearance a few years ago where he could barely hold the mic, and even then he was still planning to tour again until finally he had to admit he had Parkinson's and couldn't perform anymore. For people who have been performing since the 1960s, it's probably really difficult to let go.

May 2023 be the year Dolly gets the Nobel Prize for Literature.

If they can give it to Dylan, Dolly Parton is fully deserving of being a recipient, too.

R3 made me think, "And yet Richard Carpenter can still play the piano and conduct like nobody's business."

I’d still pay more to see Dolly or Neil than almost any other artist. And I was so pleased to see Neil get this reception a few weeks ago. He’s bearing up well.

by Anonymousreply 8January 1, 2023 11:05 AM

Yep, she been dipping in Rankin-Bass territory and get a free pass?

by Anonymousreply 9January 1, 2023 11:39 AM

No please don’t die, Dolly. Enjoy retirement.

Well, it goes to show she can't keep those tits up forever!

Fair enough. Dolly can do no wrong as far as I'm concerned.
