Does anyone recall when Linda Blair got naked all the time? She did movies topless, did Playboy magazine.
She was always kind of rough looking. Were people actually interested in seeing her naked?

Ideal body. Not a stick figure like so many women were (and still are), but curvy with big natural boobs. Built like how black men like their women, hence the reason Rick James hit it and was so inspired that he wrote Cold Blooded about her.

I really liked Linda and Rick as a couple.

She had an enormous hit movie, and would do anything to stay in the limelight. She either chose poorly or wasn’t offered quality roles. A terrible agent, maybe.

by Anonymous | reply 16 | December 29, 2022 10:18 PM |
She had to keep working. And by getting her provocative name in their cast, producers could get more funding.
I don't ever remember her 80s films showing at the local cineplex. Must've been drive-in double features or straight-to-video.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | December 29, 2022 11:59 PM |
Oooh she said she did it because she wanted people to listen to her.

by Anonymous | reply 20 | January 2, 2023 2:41 PM |
Yes, she frequently blamed The Exorcist for traumatizing her while at the same time feeling as if she could never compete with her greatest success. And likely no doubt, self esteem issues. (when you're a six but you want to be seen as a ten. see fraudom... rather than accepting their six and being happy with it, they say they really are a 10 and no one is going to tell them otherwise. denial isn't healthy.)
r20 people are always curious about celebrity bits, though. Even the selling point for one of Jessica Tandy's films was the nudity.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | January 2, 2023 2:46 PM |
Let's be real. She was never a great actress. She was sweet and innocent then special effects and doubles took over in The Exorcist. Born Innocent is actually a very well done TV movie and she's just not up to the demands and the characters shift at the end is unconvincing. She's no Eleanor Parker in that one.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | January 2, 2023 3:31 PM |
You're being too kind, R22- Linda is a horrible actress. Painfully bad.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | January 2, 2023 3:40 PM |
I have no idea what you're all talking about. She's the greatest thespian of the '70s.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | January 2, 2023 3:43 PM |
People always harp on how special effects did all the work in The Exorcist, which I call bullshit on. It is her facial expressions and acting that sell the possession angle as well. A lesser actress would have been laughable even with the make up. Tatum O’Neal’s Oscar should have been Linda’s.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | January 2, 2023 3:46 PM |
Linda had a lot of interest in horse riding, and that’s an expensive hobby. She sure appeared in a lot of crap to pay those bills,a new didn’t take herself too seriously. As far as I know she turned out pretty well. I don’t remember hearing about her going off the rails like a lot of child stars do.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | January 2, 2023 4:08 PM |
“AND didn’t take herself too seriously”

She was 15 when she was shacked up whit Rick Springfield
Op's picture selection wasn't a very good shot.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | January 2, 2023 4:18 PM |
R26 yes. They did an E True Hollywood Story on her years ago. Whatever cache she had after her Oscar nomination was blown after the debacle of The Exorcist 2, and she took whatever film she could get to pay her bills. Never a great thespian, but I do love Linda and all her crappy movies. Probably because I grew up in that era.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | January 2, 2023 4:33 PM |
She was only 13 or 14 when filming The Exorcist. People wanted to see her naked, akin to wanting to see the Olson twins naked.

by Anonymous | reply 34 | January 2, 2023 8:23 PM |
There was a Tatum O’Neal film where she stripped for her English benefactor and he like recoiled in disgust, threw up a little in his mouth and demanded that she put her clothes back on. I think it may have been International Velvet because it was always on in the afternoons on HBO.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | January 2, 2023 8:55 PM |
R35 she was still pretty young when she did IV in 1978. It was a film called Circle Of Two with Richard Burton no less.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | January 2, 2023 9:25 PM |
I wonder if Miss Blair's paramours requested that she say 'fuck me, fuck me in her Pazuzu voice.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | January 2, 2023 9:40 PM |
Linda ultimately did well for herself. She starred in a bunch of B-movies that have remained popular over the years. Roller Boogie is a lot of fun, and Hell Night is an entertaining horror movie. And she was quite funny in the Exorcist spoof Repossesed.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | February 4, 2023 5:19 AM |
Super Freak was written about her, right?
by Anonymous | reply 39 | February 4, 2023 6:47 AM |
In his memoir, “Glow,” Rick James admitted that Linda hurt him deeply by aborting his baby. Here’s what he said about it:
“Actress Linda Blair (The Exorcist) came to Buffalo to see me and I was very happy to see her. A few months before her visit she had called to say that she had-had an abortion, and that it had been my child. She said she was in the middle of shooting a movie and was starting to show, and she didn’t think I would care anyway. She was wrong. I did care deeply. I loved Linda and it hurt me that she would choose to abort our child without even wanting to talk to me about it first. I still look back on her choice with sadness and wonder about our baby, and how having that child might have changed me life.”

by Anonymous | reply 44 | February 4, 2023 9:38 PM |
That face... No one else could do that.
Linda went into TV movies afterwards, some memorable. She just didn't have the career guidance necessary, working with more good directors, etc.
Sometimes having your mom involved works (Jodie Foster) and sometimes it doesn't (Brooke Shields).

About a decade ago, my sister was heavily into MLMs and tried selling Life's Abundance dog food for a while. Linda's animal charity used to partner with them, and my sister's "upline" mentioned that she was a bitch.

Did Linda Blair alternate troubled teenage girl roles with Eve Plumb?
by Anonymous | reply 47 | February 6, 2023 2:51 AM |
Linda was terribly inconsistent as an actress, but she made some grade-A sleaze in her day. I think she was exceptional in The Exorcist, but laughably bad in a lot of the work she did after that. I think Friedkin (and Richard Donner, to a lesser extent) tapped into some of her raw talent as a child, but it seemed like when she matured and became more self-aware, her ability to perform with any modicum of believability plummeted. Despite this, I think she is a lot of fun to watch, and many of those bad movies she did have a high re-watchability factor. Roller Boogie, Savage Streets, and Summer of Fear are endlessly entertaining pieces of fluff.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | May 14, 2023 6:01 AM |
The nadir of Linda's career was the "comedy" Night Patrol, where she played Officer Sue Perman. She's not bad in it but the lead is played by the Unknown Comic from the Gong Show, and it's staggeringly racist and homophobic even by '80s comedy standards (there's a lesbian character named Dyke Van Dick). I assume most of the budget went to bad cocaine.
Billy Barty plays a police captain who farts every time he walks. Apparently Billy didn't know about the farting and was pissed off at all the dubbed-in gas. He threatened to sue.
Jaye P. Morgan is a costar, if that gives you an idea as to the quality and taste level.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | May 14, 2023 6:35 AM |
Does anyone know the backstory on Linda's family? From what I've read, it seems she had a fairly normal upbringing in well-to-do Westport, Connecticut, but I've always wondered what her parents were like. Brooke Shields's mom is the cultural poster child for crazy stage mothers, but I am almost more curious about what type of '70s parent would be comfortable with their 12-year-old daughter stabbing a crucifix between her legs on camera and mouthing "Let Jesus fuck you!" I would think that even the most freethinking bohemians would be wary of allowing their child to do something like that.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | May 14, 2023 6:42 AM |
Linda has a lot of cult films in addition to the prestige of being in The Exorcist so she can do conventions for the rest of her life.
I have heard, too, though that she is a bitch.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | May 14, 2023 6:46 AM |
Was “Hell Night” good? I heard about it for years as being one of those slashers made during the height of the boom in the early 80s, but I never got around to seeing it, mainly because no channel would air it. One night, TCM was showing it, so I got excited and started watching it, but I got so bored that I turned it off about 15-20 minutes into the movie.. Now I know why no channel airs it.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | May 14, 2023 6:58 AM |
R52 Hell Night is great Scooby Doo-esque fun if you give it a chance. A weird mixture of a slasher flick and a haunted house movie. It's not bad. Peter Barton and Vincent Van Patten supply notable eye candy. There are some great scenes in it.

"Linda was incredible. A free spirit. A beautiful mind. A mind-blowing body. She liked getting high and getting down as much as I did. We posed topless for a photograph that showed up everywhere. We didn't care. We were doing our own thing our own way. It was a love affair that I hoped would last. It didn't."
by Anonymous | reply 54 | May 14, 2023 7:13 AM |
I agree with r53. Hell Night is fun. Some cool scenes and one really cool shot. Linda is good in it, even though she was nominated for a Razzie. It's one of her better performances.
The Blu-Ray looks like shit. Apparently they cannot find the original film negative or something like that.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | May 14, 2023 7:14 AM |
R55 I didn't know she got a Razzie nom for "Hell Night". She really was a Razzie queen in the '80s. I agree that it's one of her better performances, and the movie is a lot of fun. She's very likable in it—her character is very innocent, and she really goes through the wringer. I love the Victorian costumes, and that final closing shot of her as she's leaving the mansion in a daze is great.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | May 14, 2023 5:27 PM |
I like Hell Night as well. They don’t make the characters too dumb and there actually are some natural performances/dialogue.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | May 14, 2023 5:39 PM |
I love Night Patrol.
It is so funny.
Pat Paulson: Hey, I really fucked her brains out last night.
Some woman walks across screen acting retarded.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | May 14, 2023 6:05 PM |
She was good in that Summer of Fear TV movie, I thought the movie industry shredded her up and she admitted to it.

I loved her as a teen alcoholic. It was sad when she drunk drove Mark Hamill's horse into traffic, though.

R50 regarding the parents, Wikipedia says: “Linda worked as a child model at age five,[10] appearing in Sears, J.C. Penney, and Macy's catalogues, and in over 70 commercials for Welch's grape jams and various other companies.[7][8] Blair secured a contract at age six for a series of print ads in The New York Times.”
Seems the parents put her to work with gusto
