Follow up to my comment regarding the Phantom incident.I first saw Barrowman in ANYTHING GOES with Elaine Paige. He was obviously much younger than she but I think she’d like them young. Of course he was a complete unknown But I think he was already up to his shenanigans. I didn’t see anything during the performance but he certainly did some thing at the curtain call that pissed her off. There was a very pointed finger shook in his face as an accident and the First Lady of British musicals did not seem amused.

Also saw him and Company in DC. Think that was when Billy masters posted the blind item about him being ass up,door open at the Crew Club. Met him after the show and he was nice enough. When all the stories begin to become public and he was canceled, among my friends who worked in the West End seemed to have very supportive . .Actually I was part of a zoom reunion with some well-known West End Theatre performers. It was very informal, low-key and we certainly encouraged everyone to have a cocktail or glass of wine. I also thought spoke well of the other performers in that they were protective and concerned about not contributing to anything that would run his professional career and further damage his reputation .They all seemed to like him,knew who they were working with a expected stuff like that to happen. My friend the stage manager, he’s there to oversee the show ,make sure things running smoothly and help maintain harmony backstage. In other words sometimes he’s the only adult in the room.
