She was BEYOND fabulous in "Being Julia".

One of her children is trans and she is very supportive without being in your face about it.

When did she turn into Queen Margrethe of Denmark?

Everyone talks about her performance in American Beauty, which is amazing, but I love her in Richard III with Ian McKellen

I wonder what her Catwoman would have been like?

R8 Better than Sean Young, not as good as Michelle Pfeiffer

Kind of category fraud in The Grifters but she's really magnificent in that performance. 1990 Best Supporting Actress was stacked.

I was always a bit jealous that she got to have Beatty's cock which I should imagine is quite thick and heavy.

Yes, R18, Beatty could have done so much better. Was he desperate for a suitable womb to produce children before his menopause?

She is younger sister to Bradley Bening.

Failing movie star dragged over to England for a movie about a failing movie star.
Cheaply-made, and all filmed on TV studio sets.
Cheap and nasty.

It’s interesting that Annette, Matthew Broderick and Dennis Quaid were all cast, announced and production was set to begin on ACS: Hurricane Katrina and then Ryan Murphy abruptly put it on the back burner, never ended up doing it and hasn’t used any of those actors in any of his DOZENS of projects since. Annette would be wonderful on AHS, certainly, if nothing else.

Annette dodged a bullet though she already got Ryan Murphed once in Running with Scissors.

Anette and Michelle Pfeiffer were cast in a film together right before the pandemic happened. Anette’s character kills Michelle’s. I guess it was shelved. It’s based on a book. Anette was playing a psychiatrist.

It’s a shame how she would have 3 or for Oscars if she hadn’t been up against an inferior actress who landed the perfect role at the perfect point in their career (Hilary Swank twice…Natalie Portman…Whoopi Goldberg).
Hilary Swank has had such a thoroughly mediocre career, making her a 2-time winner over Annette just seems ridiculous (especially since Annette’s performances in American Beauty and Being Julia are iconic).

How do y’all explain my three Oscars?
by Anonymous | reply 47 | December 29, 2022 12:09 PM

One of my favorite actresses, and i love her voice. It is indeed a travesty that Swank won over her twice. She is good in almost anything she appears but as great performances in The Grifters, Valmont, Being Julia, Liverpool, American Beauty. She steals her small scene from Mery Streep in Postcards from the Edge .
I also like her for being private and not constantly giving interviews and appearing on the news, we know very little about her, which is quite a feat considering she has been married to Beautty for years.

She also did almost nothing plastic surgery wise, if at all. She is the same age of Madonna, Sharon Stone and Jamie Lee Curtis.

R55, Sexy is an adjective that has never been applied to Elizabeth Warren.

She looks much older than her age. Was surprised that she was the one who landed Warren but he really isn't much of a prize.

I always feel terrible for her at those "Warren Beatty Life Achievement" award shows when she has to put up with a parade of whores joking about how Warren got in their pants. I hope she left no tables unturned when it came to fucking as many other men as possible.

You think she didn't know of Warren's reputation before she dated him? That's WHY she dated him.

Annette might not be as good looking as some of Warren's previous conquests, but:
1. She can out act most, if not all, of them
2. She seems like a stable person
3. She has CLASS

Completely agree, R61, and she elevates almost anything she’s in, including the terrible remakes of The Women and Death on the Nile. She also has a very distinctive voice that i love.

R64 For me, she enhances any movie she's in, so even if the films are not great, she always is and always a treat to watch. She's fantastic in Danny Collins and The Seagull.

I was so looking forward to seeing her onstage and finally got tickets when she was on Broadway doing All My Sons. Her performance was completely one note and she shouted every line. I was shocked. It struck me that she was having some kind of issue above and beyond her performance (stage fright, hearing the other actors, etc) that affected her acting. She seemed really uncomfortable up there. I've never seen the Grifters but I will always love her for The American President. And she's on fire in Valmont.

She’s also terrific in The Kids Are All Right. The dinner scene where she has to go from being wary of Ruffalo to liking him to discovering infidelity, all in the space of 5 minutes and while singing a Joni Mitchell tune, is pretty damn epic.

She should have won an Oscar a long time ago but she was beat by H. Swank in boy drag. As always, the actor in the heaviest make-up wins. Oscar = ridiculous.
