r4 he took more interesting roles than most snl did/do. . . Ackroyd had too much ego and wasted his career trying to catapult himself into superstardom. He could have been more succesful (well, gotten a lot more work, anyway) if he had accepted he was just a character actor or moved behind the scenes. He had talent as writer but always wanted to insert himself into it. Maybe we can blame Murray (that played the same character in practically every film) setting him up for that one and not getting that Murray just lucked out rather than it being a magic formula.

but yes, Chevy was a massive douchebag. and I'd argue r2 being an utter cunt does minimize potential hotness factor (someone has to explain that one to me).. It wasn't just that he was a diva, he was str8 up asshole but hey, it caught up to him and he ran his career into the ground regardless of the cult status some of his films on the decline hold now.
