I have to agree with those who point out that Pretty Baby, while a very good film, could never be made today in the way it was at the time. Never saw Blue Lagoon, but have to wonder why she mentioned it and not Pretty Baby which showed preteen nudity, exploitation and rape of the preteen.

She probably mentioned The Blue Lagoon because it’s starting to be discovered by Gen Z and young Millennials, while most of them probably still haven’t discovered Pretty Baby. And it’s best they don’t, because you already know how they will react to it all over the internet.

There are some redeeming features to The Blue Lagoon -- the beautiful Christopher Atkins and the Oscar-nominated cinematography from Néstor Almendros.

Well 1968 Romeo and Juliet is probably cancelled now. So Blue Lagoon may be next. Pretty Baby was cancelled for decades and those Calvin Klein commercials were rightfully criticized. But BL was just seen as a romantic teen flick with some nudity.
