I'm tired of smelling pot everywhere

In parking lots. In parks. On sidewalks. Sometimes in stores.

Yes, it absolutely should be legalized. But I don't need to smell it everywhere.

by Anonymousreply 106December 27, 2022 11:15 PM

Clutch the pearls!

by Anonymousreply 1December 23, 2022 11:18 PM

I agree op. It stinks like they’re smoking shit.

by Anonymousreply 2December 23, 2022 11:21 PM

I agree. Not against pot morally in any way but it smells like a skunk.

by Anonymousreply 3December 23, 2022 11:21 PM

Thanks OP - you have just reminded me that it's time to roll up a massive joint and smoke it.

I'll think of you OP, R2 and R3 when I'm smoking it.

by Anonymousreply 4December 23, 2022 11:24 PM

It should be illegal outdoors, like booze. And the citation, like pissing in public, shouldn't involve a prison sentence.

by Anonymousreply 5December 23, 2022 11:25 PM

The problem with potheads, is that they're dumb, lazy and inconsiderate.

They don't give a shit about anyone else. They just care about getting high.

So you can't even reason with them, because they're too stupid/stoned to care.

by Anonymousreply 6December 23, 2022 11:25 PM

R4, great. smoke to your red-eyed delight in your home and not foist it on the rest of the world.

by Anonymousreply 7December 23, 2022 11:26 PM

I haven’t smelled pot outdoors in a while, but, I recall the smell being pleasant and not foul at all.

I haven’t toked in a long time. Wonder what it would be like now with the super concentrated weed they grow these days.

by Anonymousreply 8December 23, 2022 11:27 PM

The well-meaning, but ill-considered legalization of public outdoor pot use in another factor in the perception of rising crime in liberal cities.

by Anonymousreply 9December 23, 2022 11:28 PM

R6, GFY. You cannot demonize all potheads like that. How do you define pothead anyway?

R9, how do you figure?

by Anonymousreply 10December 23, 2022 11:28 PM

I agree, it stinks. I have neighbors that are potheads and when their garage door is open, it comes wafting into my place. Gross.

by Anonymousreply 11December 23, 2022 11:28 PM

Yet - we don’t allow pot cages like Amsterdam,

by Anonymousreply 12December 23, 2022 11:30 PM

I would never smoke it in public, but it saved my life.

by Anonymousreply 13December 23, 2022 11:32 PM

I agree with you OP and I’m for legalization as well. It’s just as bad as smelling cigarette smoke everywhere.

by Anonymousreply 14December 23, 2022 11:33 PM

[quote] how do you figure?

You well know how I figure.

by Anonymousreply 15December 23, 2022 11:33 PM

No, I really don’t, R15. What do you mean by ‘perception of rising crime’? Which crimes specifically? And are they real or just perceived as real?

by Anonymousreply 16December 23, 2022 11:35 PM

R4 and I'll think of you smoking pot every time I shit a massive turd

by Anonymousreply 17December 23, 2022 11:35 PM

What about people in recovery who have to smell it.

Surely it could be a massive trigger to breathe it in, and therefore could be categorised under a health risk?

by Anonymousreply 18December 23, 2022 11:36 PM

Lmao r17

by Anonymousreply 19December 23, 2022 11:36 PM

My neighbor smokes pot outside almost 24/7 and I cannot go outside and enjoy walks or time in my backyard ever since they moved in.

I hate them.

by Anonymousreply 20December 23, 2022 11:37 PM

I'm tired of smelling humans everywhere. In parking lots. In the park. At restaurants, bars. At work. At the gym. On sidewalks. Sometimes in stores. Their rank body unwashed flesh. Their hair products. Their perfumes. Their colognes. Their shampoos. Their swamp ass. Their Axe Body Spray. Their cigarettes. Their bad breath. Their coffee breath. Their coffee. Their fast food. Their bacon. Their Doritos. Their Microwave popcorn. Their "smell." Their unappealing feet they insist on exposing with OPEN TOED SHOES.

by Anonymousreply 21December 23, 2022 11:39 PM

I agree! It's not like people can stop smoking pot in public the way humans can stop being humans. Great analogy R21.

by Anonymousreply 22December 23, 2022 11:46 PM

NEWSFLASH: No one was born to please you

by Anonymousreply 23December 23, 2022 11:52 PM

I haven't smoked pot in 37 years and I still miss it. I inherited my Mom's vintage, Nixon roach clip. I will have to use it for it's intended purpose, one day.

NEWSFLASH: I'm a narcissistic asshole who doesn't have basic manners or courtesy

by Anonymousreply 25December 23, 2022 11:55 PM

That roach clip would go great with my Nixon tramp stamp!

by Anonymousreply 26December 23, 2022 11:58 PM

I smell weed and I’m like “where’s the ‘rican?” and sure enough there’s always one nearby.

by Anonymousreply 27December 23, 2022 11:59 PM

R21, Were you a dog in a past life?

by Anonymousreply 28December 24, 2022 12:01 AM

Yes, it would. You cannot have my stuff until I die. I'll put your name on it. Check back in 25 years.

by Anonymousreply 29December 24, 2022 12:01 AM

I guess I'm a weirdo, but I smoke regularly and I love the smell of gas.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 30December 24, 2022 12:01 AM

That’s because of where you live, R27. Where I live it’s almost always blacks or Hispanics, sometimes—but with far lesser frequency—white people. Almost never Asians.

I would join in with them but I tend to get anxiety if I’m out in public and high on pot, so I keep it confined to my bedroom or my deck at night. I don’t judge anyone who smokes outdoors, though.

by Anonymousreply 31December 24, 2022 12:02 AM

Sorry, I meant Mexicans, not “Hispanics”, which would include PRs.

by Anonymousreply 32December 24, 2022 12:02 AM

You mean gasoline. Me, too. Huffer at heart.

by Anonymousreply 33December 24, 2022 12:02 AM

And I just bought a huge batch of edibles to enjoy over the holidays.

by Anonymousreply 34December 24, 2022 12:03 AM

R34 Smoke them outside in the park

by Anonymousreply 35December 24, 2022 12:05 AM

SMoking in public is still not allowed where I am.

What about all those assholes who couldn't handle anyone using perfume or even deodorants? Are they complaining about this?

How about all the people who practically tarred and feathered anyone who dared to smoke a cigarette - something that couldn't make another person high with second-hand smoke.

When I was young I enjoyed weed but I don't want to be forced to smell it any more than I do obnoxious cigarettes. Heavy fines for smoking in public - anywhere. It's a public health issue.

by Anonymousreply 36December 24, 2022 12:06 AM

I miss the laughter. The junk food never tasted so good.

by Anonymousreply 37December 24, 2022 12:06 AM

I love the smell of weed, but hate the smell of cigarettes.

by Anonymousreply 38December 24, 2022 12:08 AM

I smelled weed sold by Chechens on the Arbat in Moscow in the early 90's.

Back then, it made me think they had a chance.

by Anonymousreply 39December 24, 2022 12:13 AM

I love the smell of napalm in the morning.

by Anonymousreply 40December 24, 2022 12:14 AM

[quote] Heavy fines for smoking in public - anywhere. It's a public health issue.

Anything can be a public health issue.

What about putting up signs: “No smoking of anything within 50 feet of this area”? Would that be okay? Or do you think people are going to DIE if they smell anything that could upset their delicate respiratory system? People like that should probably, I don’t know… STAY THE FUCK HOME.

by Anonymousreply 41December 24, 2022 12:17 AM

It’s disgusting.

by Anonymousreply 42December 24, 2022 12:17 AM

[quote] What about all those assholes who couldn't handle anyone using perfume or even deodorants? Are they complaining about this?

So you love wearing perfume and heavily scented deodorants, I take it.

by Anonymousreply 43December 24, 2022 12:18 AM

Woooohoooo that smeeellll can’t ya smell that smell?

by Anonymousreply 44December 24, 2022 12:19 AM

Oh, get over it, OP, you tiresome old fusspot.

by Anonymousreply 45December 24, 2022 12:20 AM

“Oh PU, it smells like cigarette smoke in this movie theater!” = Perfectly valid complaint.

“Oh PU, it smells like pot smoke in this movie theater!” = Shut up, gramps!

by Anonymousreply 47December 24, 2022 12:31 AM

Maybe you should move out of your trailer park, OP.

by Anonymousreply 48December 24, 2022 12:34 AM

To be fair, the pot smell does cover up the scent of their farts and body odors.

by Anonymousreply 49December 24, 2022 12:42 AM

Agree. The stank is overwhelming, especially skunk weed.

by Anonymousreply 50December 24, 2022 1:07 AM

Same, OP.

It reminds me of being in high school, and walking by what we all called Stoner Lane, during lunch.

Stoner Lane is an actual street, with a different and legit name, but that’s what we called it.

Anyhow, in order to walk to a particular burger joint that was within walking distance of our HS, we had to walk down Stoner Lane.

At least Stoner Lane was riddled with hot HS guys. Now I smell pot, & it’s usually someone WAAAY past their Stoner Lane days.

by Anonymousreply 51December 24, 2022 1:09 AM

I don't whine when people BBQ, wear tons of nasty cologne or perfume, etc etc. It's none of your business when I smoke pot in my own house. Fuck off.

by Anonymousreply 52December 24, 2022 2:08 AM

No one is complaining about your house, Mary.

But lots of public places these days reek of cheap ass skunk weed.

by Anonymousreply 53December 24, 2022 3:45 AM

People upthread were complaining about their neighbors' houses and garages. It's none of their fucking business, MARYWRONG.

by Anonymousreply 54December 24, 2022 3:54 AM

Just do edibles. No smell. And last longer. My favorite.

by Anonymousreply 55December 24, 2022 4:01 AM

Well, smell YOU, OP! I imagine you look like Francine Fishpaw. Maybe you too, should consider leaving Baltimore?

by Anonymousreply 56December 24, 2022 4:05 AM

I agree, OP. It’s everywhere and I hate the smell.

by Anonymousreply 57December 24, 2022 4:08 AM

I went to a store in Colorado. Almost bought reefer.but bought a lighter with the head shop name on it instead. It’ll be legal (stores) in NYC at the end of Dec. was thinking of getting a joint. It’s been decades. (Early 90’s) since i smoked. The smell doesn’t bother me. Sometimes it’s in the air as i walk down the block. I have no point. Maybe i do: i guess it doesn’t mean anything to me.

by Anonymousreply 58December 24, 2022 4:12 AM

I don’t give a fuck if people smoke pot outdoors. But I am tired of smelling it while driving and then pulling up next to a car with a guy toking it at the wheel. Drivers are bad enough in my neighborhood. Driving while stoned isn’t cute.

by Anonymousreply 59December 24, 2022 4:13 AM

I love that smell

by Anonymousreply 60December 24, 2022 4:13 AM

I am a complete pothead and I totally agree with this. I don't go anywhere so I haven't experienced it myself. However, my friend went on a road trip from Omaha to Niagara Falls with her 13 year old son and told me the smell was EVERYWHERE! I just think that is trashy and inappropriate. Do edibles as mentioned, keep the smoke in your own home and maybe bars, if that ever becomes a thing. Not sure if this is the case anymore, but I had a friend that went to the dispensaries right after it became legal in Denver, and the only thing that was allowed in public edibles. Anyone know if this is still the case or if/when they ended that?

by Anonymousreply 61December 24, 2022 4:15 AM

Edibles wrecks, R34.

by Anonymousreply 62December 24, 2022 4:16 AM

I definitely see people smoking behind the wheel, picking up their kids from school (no joke), outside of the mall. Everywhere and near very young kids. I find it gross.

by Anonymousreply 63December 24, 2022 4:17 AM

Carrie Nation lives!

by Anonymousreply 64December 24, 2022 5:11 AM

There's a wide range of cannabis odor depending on strain and (I think) cultivation. The stain I'm smoking now in the privacy of my home has a wonderful spicy pine aroma very appropriate to the Christmas season.

by Anonymousreply 65December 24, 2022 5:26 AM

Why do I find R61’s rambling hot? Oh the edible just kicked in

by Anonymousreply 66December 24, 2022 5:43 AM

by Anonymousreply 68December 26, 2022 9:32 AM

Don't fall in R17! How would we be able to tell you apart?

by Anonymousreply 69December 26, 2022 9:52 AM

Is Cheryl's pussy still a thing here on the DL?

Cuz if it is, there's a joke in there.

by Anonymousreply 70December 26, 2022 10:50 AM

I like the smell of pot. And I'm not much of a pot smoker myself. I have some niche fragrances that include cannabis notes. I spray them on just to delight tight-assed nasty control freak drama queens who CANNOT BREATHE if they smell pot and fragrance. Funny how they are always Americans.

I take the subway to work and it absolutely reeks of pot. Walking down the street in my city is like walking through a music festival or something - the smell of pot is absolutely everywhere. I don’t think there’s much that can be done about it though, the police don’t even bother with people smoking it.

by Anonymousreply 73December 26, 2022 11:30 AM

Ever since it was legalized here in CA, our condo complex just has that ever-present stench.

I don't disapprove - but it does feel to be a form of air pollution.

It's like driving that stretch of the NJ Turnpike near Linden and the Bayway refinery.

by Anonymousreply 74December 26, 2022 11:38 AM

Walking into a subway car every morning and realizing how many people have waked and baked always alarms me. If they were going to work drunk nobody would be this cavalier.

In doing the right thing by repealing the racist criminalization of weed I do fear that we’re downplayed its negative effects.

And yes, it smells fucking gross.

by Anonymousreply 75December 26, 2022 11:44 AM

by Anonymousreply 77December 26, 2022 12:11 PM

You can't walk through Manhattan without smelling pot in the air. It's a bit TOO MUCH!

I've always hated the smell and taste of marijuana; but, boy do I LOVE how it makes me feel.

by Anonymousreply 78December 26, 2022 12:20 PM

It stinks. Bad. The weed of old had a sweeter smell - not sure why the current crop is so skunky and awful-smelling.

I don't enjoy driving in traffic and having the smell get into my car.

by Anonymousreply 79December 26, 2022 12:53 PM

[quote]I don’t think there’s much that can be done about it though, the police don’t even bother with people smoking it.

It’s completely legal to smoke it outside anywhere that smoking cigarettes or cigars is also legal, so no, they’re not going to do anything about it. Assuming you’re talking about New York?

by Anonymousreply 80December 26, 2022 12:53 PM

It's much more concentrated in resin (and THC of course), thus the heavy perfume.

by Anonymousreply 81December 26, 2022 12:56 PM

r79 sativa moved into the forefront whereas in the past indica led the way in the states... and colder climate pot was more like smoked tea leaves and pine tar while the culture was fond of patchouli, sandalwood and white sage, which blended well with the odor it gave.

r81 also, inflation with costs in legal sales, so more people re-smoke what they burn, they're prone to smoke stems, seeds and all.. and that's adds to it, too. Also, people don't use bongs or waterpipes as much, anymore... or even just an apple. And even the smokeable blends (way too pricy for regular usage now from a shop than to DIY which most won't do.), or specifically tobacco, where menthol used to preferred has been greatly reduced in use too.

the stinker are the people that use hash oil plus cannabis...

by Anonymousreply 82December 26, 2022 1:08 PM

I'm tired of smelling poets everywhere.

by Anonymousreply 83December 26, 2022 1:11 PM

What about the stank of desperation and wage slavery?

by Anonymousreply 84December 26, 2022 1:14 PM

R82, are you talking about someplace like the UK? What you’re describing doesn’t sound like any pot trends I’ve observed in the States, specifically NYC. No one smokes stems or seeds, and sativas are just *barely* making a comeback. Hybrids have dominated for years now. In fact almost the entirety of your post sounds completely made up!

by Anonymousreply 85December 26, 2022 1:14 PM

You’re full of shit R80. Just because everyone seems to smoke pot in public doesn’t make it legal. It’s no more legal than walking down the street drinking alcohol. Cops will look the other way, but there are laws against it. Cops shouldn’t be looking the other way at drivers smoking pot.

by Anonymousreply 86December 26, 2022 3:23 PM

Apartment elevators smell like they've been burning skunk cabbage in there.

by Anonymousreply 87December 26, 2022 3:24 PM

R86, I think you need to familiarize yourself with the laws in NYC.

by Anonymousreply 88December 26, 2022 3:37 PM

R88 Depends on the New York law's definition of New York State Parks and "other public spaces" as it's no longer legal there as of 10/01/22. My guess is that a subway car is a "public space."

Not that it much matters: there's a fine IF the municipality decides to use their authority to impose a $50 penalty for public use.

by Anonymousreply 89December 26, 2022 4:49 PM

R89, once again, any place where cigarette is allowed, pot smoking is also allowed.

It is prohibited in subway cars, and all parks, just as cigarette smoking is.

This really isn’t complicated.

by Anonymousreply 90December 26, 2022 4:51 PM

It really is gross. It lingers in the air and if a neighbour is smoking, gets into every corner of your apartment if you leave a window open. I feel so resentful that I now can't enjoy my balcony at all because of a neighbor who is almost constantly smoking pot. Not a one off but literally every waking moment. I despise them. I have sinus issues and smoke getting into my apartment means a headache and a stuffy nose for hours.

It really is horrible and a health hazard and the people who inflict it on others are selfish.

by Anonymousreply 91December 26, 2022 4:57 PM

People have been smoking on the subway more frequently imo

by Anonymousreply 92December 26, 2022 5:00 PM

Dumbfuck R90 thinks everyone lives in NYC. Just a narcissist living in a bubble.

by Anonymousreply 93December 26, 2022 5:14 PM

[quote]nflation with costs in legal sales, so more people re-smoke what they burn

"Ill-fated hopes that a Democratic-controlled Washington might loosen decades-old restrictions on the drug have given way to a market glut and plummeting prices that have put scores of businesses at risk of collapse.

In Colorado, prices have dropped by 51 percent over the last two years. The price of a pound of weed has plunged by 36 percent in Massachusetts and 46 percent in Missouri in just the last year.

The price drop is even more extreme in Michigan. Over the last two years, the price of weed in the recreational market has plummeted about 75 percent — from nearly $400 an ounce to less than $100."

by Anonymousreply 94December 26, 2022 5:29 PM

Laws are different everywhere, R93. If someone wants to complain about the smell of pot ON THE SUBWAY and they’re not talking about NYC, they should specify where in the fuck they live.

by Anonymousreply 95December 26, 2022 5:32 PM

We got rid of indoor smoking only to be plagued by pot fumes suffusing every block.

by Anonymousreply 96December 26, 2022 5:33 PM

Well, which one is worse, R96?

I’m so glad I don’t live anywhere near you cunts.

by Anonymousreply 97December 26, 2022 5:36 PM

I enjoy the smell of pot and cigarettes. I rarely smoke pot and never smoke cigs.

by Anonymousreply 98December 26, 2022 5:36 PM

Most pot smokers ought to be on an anti-anxiety drug, but are too conservative to admit they might have a mental health issue.

Keep lowering that IQ.

by Anonymousreply 99December 26, 2022 5:39 PM

None of what you wrote is of any validity, R99.

by Anonymousreply 100December 26, 2022 5:40 PM

Apparently we have a very avid pot enthusiast and deranged Wackadoodle in this thread. Get help, honey.

by Anonymousreply 101December 26, 2022 5:49 PM

[quote]People upthread were complaining about their neighbors' houses and garages.

No, they complained about the reek of your shitty habit not being confined to your houses and garages. If they had a sewage leak that you had to smell, you wouldn't accept it.

by Anonymousreply 102December 27, 2022 6:02 AM

The pot I was around in high school and college had a scent, but it didn’t turn me off at all. Everywhere I go these days in my city—even in my car—smells of SKUNK. The other night I was in the grocery store and it seemed like every other person I passed by positively REEKED. I’m all for it being legal, and I wish I could enjoy it (it’s never been a pleasant experience for me when I’ve smoked it), but does it really smell different now? My best friend is a daily pot smoker, and what he smokes still smells like “old school” pot to me. Are there just cheaper, stinkier strains now, and that’s what most are smoking?

by Anonymousreply 103December 27, 2022 6:33 AM

In flyoverstan, you don’t smell it anywhere at least the places I go. Half of everyone doesn’t even realize you can buy hemp derived THC products where I am at.

by Anonymousreply 104December 27, 2022 9:03 PM

And everyone’s nasty BO

by Anonymousreply 105December 27, 2022 9:53 PM

R103, modern pot is much more powerful than old-school pot. It’s grown under improved conditions and all kinds of specialty hybrids have been created. That may account for the intense scent.
