William Daniels is STILL alive!

95 years old!

And he's been married to Bonnie Bartlett for over 70 years. Which I find mildly amusing because he almost always strikes me as such a nellie prisspot in his various performances.

Bonnie Bartlett (famous on DL for playing Barbara Thorndyke on The Golden Girls) is 93. Norman Lloyd lived to 106 and died just last year. Was there something in the water on the St. Elsewhere set that made cast members live a long time? (Well not everyone - Ed Flanders cut his time short.)

Are we looking at a centenarian Chad Allen staring at his snow globe?

Son of Brooklyn, NY.

Loved William Daniels as the old school stuffy "Dr. Mark Craig" on St. Elsewhere. Here is a great scene with his wife Bonnie Bartlett who played "Mrs. Mark Craig" on same series.

R1, don’t forget Christina Pickles at 87.

I believe Nellie Prisspot was what he was going for.

He personified a stuffy New Englander in Two for the Road with Audrey Hepburn and Albert Finney.

Daniels always had that bitchy queen tone in his delivery.

by Anonymousreply 8December 21, 2022 5:00 AM

He was great as John Adams in 1776.

by Anonymousreply 9December 21, 2022 5:05 AM

I saw him do 1776 in Philadelphia on July, 6 1976 in the Liberty Bell pavilion or some such temporary theater set up for the Bicentennial.

William Daniels can romp through Cupid's Grove with great agility, but life is more than sexual combustibility

Bonnie Bartlett was on Little House on the Prairie a few times. She rn the town newspaper. William Daniels was also the voice of KITT on Knight Rider

A truly marvelous actor -an actor's actor, in fact. In addition to 1776 he also appeared on Broadway in On A Clear Day You Can See Forever and A Little Night Music, and the original cast of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

Another "Golden Girls" tie-in -- Christina was the "longtime companion" of Herb Edelman (Stan Zbornak.)

Not sure what R11 was getting at, but I wasn't saying he was or wasn't gay, though he certain gave off a David Hyde Pierce energy in younger days.

I think perhaps less so as he's aged and/or gotten a bit larger.

Just watched an episode of "Family" where he was a pissy music teacher with a misogynistic streak. That particular character just screamed QUEEN! to me. He outprissed and outcunted Kate Lawrence, and that's not easy!

by Anonymousreply 17December 21, 2022 4:04 PM

He's a damned good actor.

R14-That suburban housing development is supposed to be New Jersey?

It looks like the desert by way of Arizona.

Bonnie Bartlett Daniels says she and husband William Daniels “never felt tied to fidelity” at the beginning of their now 72-year marriage.

The 93-year-old got candid about the ups and downs of her relationship with the “Boy Meets World” actor, 95, while promoting her new memoir, “Middle of the Rainbow.”

“I guess it was a little bit of an open marriage at first, but that was very painful,” Bartlett Daniels told Fox News Digital on Tuesday. “That didn’t work well.”

“And it was a time when people were doing that,” she continued. “It was at a time in New York when there was a lot of sex and a lot of people doing all kinds of things, you know — very free.”

Knight Rider got extra campy sometimes and Daniels' voice only made it more so.

Open marriage was popular in the early 1950s?

by Anonymousreply 23January 18, 2023 10:19 AM

Thomas Braden, author of "Eight is Enough," and his wife were in an open marriage.

I only quickly glanced at the article about the Daniels-Bartlett open marriage. She mentioned his affair with a producer. Were there many female producers in the 1970s? I could easily see him being a bossy bottom.

Anyone remember WD's one season turn as klutzy superhero "Captain Nice"? Alice Ghostley played his mom.

No? Just me? 😕

R24- I doubt he’s never had sex with a man.

And his love interest on the show was the very cute Ann Prentiss, sister of Paula. Who would later die in prison after conviction for trying to hire a convict to kill her father, her brother-in-law Richard Benjamin.
