Take my meaningless poll.

You may find this thread of interest. It doesn't have a poll though.

As a Brit this makes me laugh. Where's the regular tea that we drink several times a day?

by Anonymousreply 2December 20, 2022 5:34 AM

French Breakfast by Mariage Freres

by Anonymousreply 7December 20, 2022 5:53 AM

I love English Breakfast. I'll have 3-4 cups each morning. I switched to tea because coffee and Prep don't mix for me. How do you keep your teeth from getting stained? I'm needing cleanings every 3 months to polish them.

by Anonymousreply 8December 20, 2022 5:55 AM

R5 No, pretty sure it isn't Assam. Specifically labelled Assam tea tastes very different.

It's a mixture of Assam, Ceylon, and Kenyan teas. The more full-bodied variant of it is called English breakfast tea in the US, and it is also popular here. British afternoon tea tends to be the same mixture but is less robust.

Irish breakfast tea is the same mixture, but is usually heavier on the Assam (which is maltier in taste).

R10 That sounds more like it.

Earl Grey adds bergamot oil to black tea.

Lady Grey adds bergamot oil, orange peel, and lemon peel.

Yorkshire Gold

by Anonymousreply 13December 20, 2022 6:01 AM

Angela Lansbury supposedly prefers PG Tips.

by Anonymousreply 14December 20, 2022 6:02 AM

Oolong is Chinese, and usually smells and tastes like peach oil has been added to black tea.

by Anonymousreply 15December 20, 2022 6:03 AM

I drink Lipton or nothing else.

by Anonymousreply 16December 20, 2022 6:03 AM

Yorkshire Gold is a type of English tea (obviously). It's the favorite of Patrick Stewart.

by Anonymousreply 17December 20, 2022 6:03 AM

I like a good Earl Grey in the morning and a Green Jasmine in the evening.

I generally have a 10gr pot of each a day.

by Anonymousreply 18December 20, 2022 6:04 AM

A lot of the names being offered (PG Tips, Yorkshire, Lipton) are BRANDS of black English tea, not types of black tea.

by Anonymousreply 19December 20, 2022 6:05 AM

I like Irish Breakfast as it’s strong. But I usually buy English Breakfast Extra Strong teabags:

by Anonymousreply 20December 20, 2022 6:05 AM

Brands of tea are comparable to champagne houses.

I only drink boba milk tea.🧋

by Anonymousreply 23December 20, 2022 6:08 AM

Orange Pekoe is usually what’s considered the “standard” black tea in the US such as Lipton, Red Rose or Salada or the store brand.

by Anonymousreply 24December 20, 2022 6:14 AM

I drink rose red ummm I mean red rose

by Anonymousreply 25December 20, 2022 6:16 AM

I don’t like anything orange.

R27 - isn't that what you would be served at most Turkish restaurants?

by Anonymousreply 28December 20, 2022 6:30 AM

Orange pekoe isn't a variety it's a grade.

by Anonymousreply 29December 20, 2022 6:37 AM

These are the teas in a Twinings sampler.

Oolong is not black tea. There are four types of tea: black, oolong, green and white. They are all the same plant, but the leaves have been prepared differently to have different degrees of oxidation.

by Anonymousreply 30December 20, 2022 7:28 AM

The whole post is a train wreck.

by Anonymousreply 31December 20, 2022 7:34 AM
