Good for Amy. I wonder if she still considers herself a Republican. I know she was good friends with the Bushes, but I can't imagine she's a fan of Trump and the MAGA crowd.

She didn't remote strike me as MAGA when we saw her about a year ago in LA. My husband was a big fan of her music and she really seemed like a not so nuts, more enlightened Christian woman. This kinda proves it.

I worked with her 30 years ago during the Heart In Motion era and I have nothing but nice memories of that time…she was down to earth and already progressive about gay issues…and this was in the middle of the AIDS crisis and it was easy to dismiss gays back then…

The Heart in Motion album was HUGE at the time. It seems crazy in retrospect, but Baby Baby was played on steady rotation on MTV and even earned a Video Music award nomination. She had a couple of other big hits from it as well.

I knew someone at school who had a MAJOR crush on her at that time and put her in the same league as Cindy Crawford.

I think it helped that she attended a secular high school (Harpeth Hall in Nashville) and Vanderbilt for college.

Yes, but MTV didn't start playing the video for Baby Baby until the song had already become a hit on the radio and reached the top 10. It was like MTV didn't want to play the video, but eventually the song was such a huge hit that they had no choice. I think Amy has talked about this in interviews -- how reluctant MTV was to play her music.

She had an interesting voice. She didn’t have a big voice like Celine or Mariah or Whitney. Her voice sounded kind of boyish.

But she had that bland, wholesome quality that everybody could relate to in the early 90s. Very “adult contemporary.” But why didn’t she have a bigger career after “Heart in Motion?” I’m guessing she was eclipsed by Mariah and Whitney and Celine.

She’s a poor example and role model for today’s middle aged youth!!!!!

it's disgusting how much an outcry she gets from evangelical Chad's and Karen's on social media. Lord forbid she realizes there are gay people out there who might like her music, as opposed to washed up losers like Kirk and Candace who spat on every LGBT person who ever watched their lame sitcoms growing up (and both shows were lame, haven't aged well). I love Amy Grant. I saw her and Vince in Nashville a few years ago and they put on a great show.

Amy has never NOT been an ally to the gay community. Being in a community who typically hates gay people is a rough job. She the bridge for us though most fundies are cunts! I saw last at the Cerritos Center in 2018 and the queens in front were all queening out in the front row dancing their asses off. Amy went down and danced with them. So much fun to watch. She great!

Vince Gill, on the other hand, has an exceptional voice.

I saw Larry King (?) interviewing Vince and Amy together. Larry asked about the beginnings of their relationship and they were obviously uncomfortable and reticent. I wasn't convinced that there was no overlap in relationships.

That said, for celebrities, they both seem like decent people.

Vince really does have a great voice. When I saw their show at the Ryman at Nashville, my God, his voice was incredible. She is great too although her voice has diminished over the years.

I've always loved their duet of House of Love. I'm surprised that considering they are married and tour together occasionally, they haven't done a full album together.

I remember watching an interview with her in the 80s her peak as Christian princess of pop, she was asked somewhat jokingly if going on the road with her was an exceptionally clean experience compared to other bands. She flat out said "no", and people would be shocked to know it could get rough at times, and the wild acts sometimes had an easier and smoother time when touring. I found her so refreshing and honest.

Amy may not be a big belter or have a voice like Mariah's or Whitney's but I will take her voice any day over the shrieking or whistle notes of Mariah. Amy's voice has a beautiful tone, and her voice can convey so much. Which is why she was a great pop star for a brief moment.

Her Lead Me On album is excellent. It is a Christian album and yet she branched out and sang songs by Janis Ian and Jimmy Webb.
