Magnesium - Trying to avoid doctors
My dentist says my blood pressure is close to the limit they can allow a patient to have before they’ll refuse service.
I’m happy to eat a Brazil nut every day because I gather from googling that they contain magnesium, which I’m likely to need, as well as becoming aware of my sodium intake. Has anybody here done anything else that’s helped lower your BP without meds?
P.S. I know mild, regular exercise like walking is always good.

I was reluctant to start the meds. Blood pressure control with Losarton and Amlodipine daily, taken at night. No side effects, and my blood pressure went down to normal. I am also taking pills to lower my A1C. Metformin twice daily, and a daily Rybelsus which causes diarrhea, along with appetite suppressant. I've lost 40 Ibs. I am about to start Ozempic, and looking forward to more weight loss. I take a daily thyroid pill due to removal of my cancerous thyroid. Since my thyroid removal, I've had a difficult time losing weight. When I did low carb with a thyroid, I could drop 30 lbs easy in several months. After my thyroid was removed, no carbs and I lost a pound. I agree. Take the meds.

My doctor told me to buy a combo supplement of magnesium and potassium. Said it works just as well as the prescription meds and so far, he's been right.

Doctors "refuse service" based on what now? Is this in hellscape USA?

It was a dentist, R5, but yeah. It certainly got my attention at least.

Many/most oral surgeons take blood pressure readings and may refuse to perform certain procedures if your blood pressure is too high. They expect you to go to your primary care physician and get treatment (blood pressure meds.) My experience is that they don't require perfect blood pressure readings, but if they start seeing excessively high readings, they want you to get it fixed before they perform dental implants, for example.

Thanks DL. I’m going to try the supplement. I’ve read that Pure Encapsulations is the best product.

OP- This is the second thread that you started today about your blood pressure.
You know now what you need to do. So do it!

I don't know about blood pressure, but my restless leg symptoms went away once I started taking 50 mg of magnesium citrate a few hours before bedtime.

R9, this is the only thread I started. I remembered the other one from a day or so ago, after I posted this, and expected to die in a grease fire for not having searched for it before posting this one.

Do not take a supplement before getting bloodwork done by a doctor. Too much magnesium and potassium can cause kidney failure. Most people over 40 are already experiencing some decline in kidney function, so don't do anything stupid to rush it along.

Just take the fucking medication. People can it be on it for decades with no problems, but you don't want to find out what happens if you let the hypertension go untreated...

Are you crazy? See a doctor, take the medication s/he prescribes, change your diet and lifestyle.
