We are always taught to capitalize God and He because we live in a society where Christians think they are the only ones that matter.
I have stopped because it's stupid.

I always capitalize "Gay"
by Anonymous | reply 2 | December 12, 2022 9:05 PM |
It should properly be "G-d" with a capital G.
Because He should simultaneously be revered but not rendered in words by mere mortal and sinful hands.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | December 12, 2022 9:08 PM |
No. But my spell check engine always capitalizes it, so I have to correct it and lowercase it. Why? Because fuck them, that's why.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | December 12, 2022 9:09 PM |
I do not. But I do capitalize Brand.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | December 12, 2022 9:12 PM |
It's a proper name, OP, so...yes.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | December 12, 2022 9:13 PM |
OP Proper names are capitalized in English and all languages I’m familiar with. Jews and Muslims capitalize God as well, so do you mean followers of the Abrahamic traditions “think they are the only ones that matter.”? Most every theistic religion capitalizes their deities’ names, it’s as much grammatical as it is reverence.
I’m with R1. But you do whatever you wish. Somehow I think most people care very little about your missives. Just don’t use the wrong pronoun.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | December 12, 2022 9:15 PM |
@r6, As in "Mr. God"? 🤔
by Anonymous | reply 8 | December 12, 2022 9:16 PM |
I capitalise off God! Have you seen my Dayspring devotionals? I also have a range of bibles! They make a great Christmas gift for your friends and loved ones!
In the spirit of Christianity, I'm sending that whore Jodie Sweetin a bible, with all my favourite verses highlighted!
by Anonymous | reply 9 | December 12, 2022 9:18 PM |
R7 Is God god's name? Isn't it Jahve? Or is it both?
by Anonymous | reply 10 | December 12, 2022 9:21 PM |
Fair enough, OP. That is your right to do so.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | December 12, 2022 9:22 PM |
^ but just remember, you are going to hell for it.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | December 12, 2022 9:24 PM |
Ask yourself, OP, what would Jesus do?
by Anonymous | reply 13 | December 12, 2022 9:25 PM |
R10 yes, it is rendered as a proper name. He is referred to by at least 5 names in the Abrahamic books with the exception of Islam and the Quran which identifies Him only as Allah, الله.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | December 12, 2022 9:26 PM |
I like you R4.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | December 12, 2022 9:27 PM |
R3, cram it, churchy!
by Anonymous | reply 16 | December 12, 2022 9:30 PM |
It's 'Miss God'.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | December 12, 2022 9:32 PM |
What if God was one of [italic]us[/italic]?
by Anonymous | reply 18 | December 12, 2022 9:34 PM |
As in Godzilla or Rumpelstiltskin, r8.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | December 12, 2022 9:36 PM |
He’d never make it here.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | December 12, 2022 9:37 PM |
It should properly be "G-d"...Because He should simultaneously be revered but not rendered in words by mere mortal and sinful hands.
Plus, it takes back a little of the ink we used on capitalizing the "G."
by Anonymous | reply 21 | December 12, 2022 9:37 PM |
Spelling it "G-d" is the stupidest g-d-mm f-cking thing -v-r.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | December 12, 2022 9:39 PM |
Nope.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | December 12, 2022 9:41 PM |
I capitalize the O to symbolize Jesus's well-worn hole.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | December 12, 2022 9:42 PM |
Spelling it "G-d" is the stupidest g-d-mm f-cking thing -v-r.
I think it comes from the Hebrew practice of omitting vowels. Not really applicable to English, like the supposed rule that one should never split infinitives, which mimics Latin.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | December 12, 2022 9:43 PM |
R3 is correct. You don't completely write the name of G*d.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | December 12, 2022 9:46 PM |
What happens if you do? Your all-loving god will smite you or something?
by Anonymous | reply 27 | December 12, 2022 9:53 PM |
R27 no, of course not. It's just a sign of respect for those with faith.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | December 12, 2022 9:59 PM |
Fuck all of you who say you never spell out god with your shitty hands.
God is not real. I save my respect and reverence for living beings.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | December 12, 2022 10:00 PM |
R26, it's just dumb. God isn't God's name. Would that this was the only dumb thing religious people do.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | December 12, 2022 10:00 PM |
I've been smitten before. Sometimes it was fucken awesome, and sometimes it sucked.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | December 12, 2022 10:04 PM |
I prefer Yahweh, and my pronouns are he/him.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | December 12, 2022 10:05 PM |
Sometimes I smite off more than I can chew.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | December 12, 2022 10:06 PM |
No, because it is a god- like the 1,000s of other gods who people beleve in.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | December 12, 2022 10:08 PM |
whom, doll
by Anonymous | reply 35 | December 12, 2022 10:10 PM |
How often is anybody writing the word God that this is an issue?
by Anonymous | reply 36 | December 12, 2022 10:10 PM |
Well it is written rather a lot.
oh my god!
goddamit!
god knows
god love her
by Anonymous | reply 37 | December 12, 2022 10:13 PM |
I don't capitalize it. Since I don't profess any religion, that god is *a* god to me. I'm agnostic.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | December 12, 2022 10:16 PM |
Do you capitalize Aphrodite, Odin, or Thor?
by Anonymous | reply 39 | December 12, 2022 10:17 PM |
erm, Dionysus
by Anonymous | reply 41 | December 12, 2022 10:20 PM |
I smite be smitten with a kitten who doesn't have dust smites 🥴
by Anonymous | reply 42 | December 12, 2022 10:31 PM |
I don't when I know it will just make whoever is reading it UNHINGED.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | December 12, 2022 10:43 PM |
I do like Pasta Allah Vodka.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | December 12, 2022 10:49 PM |
I'm agnostic.
You can’t have kids?
by Anonymous | reply 45 | December 12, 2022 11:26 PM |
I only capitalize god if it refers to the Abrahamic God (aka YHWH, Jehovah, Allah). Jews do write G-d.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | December 12, 2022 11:28 PM |
Oy!
by Anonymous | reply 47 | December 12, 2022 11:31 PM |
God is a title, not his name, so I only capitalize it when I'm in the mood to acquiesce. I'd capitalize Thor, Ganesha, or Jehova because those are proper nouns, but I lowercase gods as a common noun.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | December 12, 2022 11:32 PM |
All I have to say is I don't really understand why the Abrahamic God hates gays so much. I'm happy pantheism, polytheism, animism, magic and Dharmic faiths are growing. Monotheism is definitely good for building empires and controlling the masses but it is not good for human progress like women's rights and gay rights. It's all fear-driven and the God of Abraham is too jealous and insecure to be truly all-loving.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | December 12, 2022 11:36 PM |
God is a title, not his name
Where do you come up with that?
by Anonymous | reply 50 | December 12, 2022 11:37 PM |
R50, I’m not him but he’s right.
Is Buddha a god? Thor? Jehovah?
A god is a noun. A proper name like above is a proper noun and should be capitalized.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | December 12, 2022 11:40 PM |
God is a title, not his name
Where do you come up with that?
He may have seen his driver’s license.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | December 12, 2022 11:41 PM |
He's a god, just like my boss is a director. To me, it's his job description, not his actual name. The Jews have an actual name for him, so why capitalize god?
by Anonymous | reply 53 | December 12, 2022 11:41 PM |
Oops, forgot to sign my r53 post. I'm also r48.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | December 12, 2022 11:43 PM |
The Buddha was not a god, and he'd be the first one to tell you that. "Buddha" is a title and can be lowercased; "the" buddha wasn't the only one, but his title is usually capitalized out of respect (like "God" or "the Mahatma").
by Anonymous | reply 56 | December 12, 2022 11:44 PM |
I don't respect any of them, so I'll continue on with my lowercase letters.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | December 12, 2022 11:46 PM |
God is NOT a proper name.
It’s capitalized to show awe and respect to the “almighty.”
Of course, that’s a crock of shit
by Anonymous | reply 58 | December 13, 2022 12:01 AM |
God is not real.
Neither is Snow White or Cupid
by Anonymous | reply 59 | December 13, 2022 12:02 AM |
What’s the different between the Judeo Christian God and the Roman gods?
by Anonymous | reply 60 | December 13, 2022 12:02 AM |
R59, my cock is but it’s not capitalized.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | December 13, 2022 12:03 AM |
Neither is Snow White
That bitch is real.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | December 13, 2022 12:04 AM |
It’s just religion’s way to control the population but make them bow to their God
by Anonymous | reply 63 | December 13, 2022 12:04 AM |
If you capitalize Santa Claus, then you have to capitalize God to be consistent.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | December 13, 2022 12:07 AM |
Not true. Santa Claus is a proper name. God is a title of a deity.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | December 13, 2022 12:08 AM |
God isn't just *a* god, r65. He's *the* God. At least in His own mind.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | December 13, 2022 12:11 AM |
I know some Instahoes that think the same way.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | December 13, 2022 12:12 AM |
The use of the plural form doesn't give it away, r60?
by Anonymous | reply 68 | December 13, 2022 12:27 AM |
God its a name, a title and a noun. That is the Holy Trinity (also capitalized).
by Anonymous | reply 69 | December 13, 2022 12:34 AM |
I am an atheist but I capitalize God just as do any other individual's name, not out of respect for the mythological being.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | December 13, 2022 12:41 AM |
No but I prioritize Jesus.
by Anonymous | reply 71 | December 13, 2022 1:46 AM |
Jesus Hernandez?
by Anonymous | reply 72 | December 13, 2022 2:11 AM |
God is not a name.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | December 13, 2022 2:11 AM |
R60 I think Jewish God is more similar to Greco-Roman gods in that he's vain, petty, temperamental and violent and shows his anger through storms, fires and other natural disasters. Only being compassionate when shown utter submission. And the Jewish God is only for the Jewish tribe. His laws only apply to Jews. It doesn't state other gods don't exist in Jewish Bible but simply they are irrelevant.
Now Christians and Muslims believe in a universal and omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient God that is the beginning and the ending. All the other gods basically don't exist and thus others simply worship objects and animals. Christian and Muslim God's rules apply to everyone and demands conversion. So that's why Christians and Muslims invaded areas and forced their religion onto others.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | December 13, 2022 11:38 AM |
R74, what you say may be true of the ancient Jewish notion of God, but their later notions of God are as universal as any other religion. Post-Exile the Jewish God was the God of the universe, not the local, tribal god.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | December 13, 2022 11:43 AM |
God is a narcissist
by Anonymous | reply 76 | December 13, 2022 1:32 PM |

I am a dyslexic atheist - I don't believe in dog and I don't use a capital D.
by Anonymous | reply 78 | December 13, 2022 2:55 PM |
Dyslexics UNTIE!!
by Anonymous | reply 79 | December 13, 2022 2:59 PM |
I write “gods,” as in “I don’t believe in gods.” No capitalization required.
by Anonymous | reply 80 | December 13, 2022 6:33 PM |
R59: Neither is Snow White or Cupid
But there is a huge difference in the level of self-entitlement in the followers of god, and those who merely admire Snow White and Cupid.
