What truth bombs will your own Netflix documentary share?

From a wickedly funny piece in today's London Times:

"For most of it, Meghan sat, gussied up in ten layers of social justice cashmere, on a sofa in some spa-like safe house — safe palace? — in America, while Harry poured out the awful story of his mother’s death. I could have listened to the prince for hours — he had clearly been interviewed by someone he trusted. But every time his story deepened or got real, we came back to Meghan whinnying about her “truth” and newspaper headlines that said she broke “royal hair protocol yet again” or some flunky giving a turgid lecture on race. It was a tale of two very different people.

Naturally, Meghan’s boring backstory, one of school plays and immaculate “penmanship”, took equal, if not greater prominence, but it seemed trivial in comparison with his. Mysterious friends with strange names like “Silver” and “Nacho” were corralled to corroborate the couple’s claims that they were in immediate and extreme danger. I found the figure of Ashleigh, Meghan’s half-niece, the most pitiful: there is one of these tearful victim everywomen in every Netflix doc. We were told how she had decided to break ties with her mother, Samantha, in support of Meghan, only to be told by Meghan that she couldn’t come to the wedding, because of PR fears supposedly dreamt up by the Palace. Who invites people they’ve never even met to their wedding, like George and Amal Clooney, but can’t see a way to make space for their most loyal niece?"

What truths and sometime friendz will appear in your tell-all series?

We’re not allowed to talk about that cunt anymore.

by Anonymousreply 1December 11, 2022 6:02 AM

We're not going to talk about her. We're going to talk about precious US. As victims. As survivors. As vanquishers!

That the Brits really are the scum of the earth and deserving of all the misfortune coming their way 🙂

Oh, wait, everyone already knows that

I do think Kevin Sessums should ghost write her own autobiography though. Imagine the shimmering self-reflective, self-congratulatory, scented hot-air California bliss of it.

All the bombs and nothing truthful.

[quote]According to the estate agent’s gushing description of 888 Lilac Lane – a nine-minute drive from the Sussexes’ real home, which they bought in 2020 – the mansion used for filming boasts a Wimbledon-quality lawn, pool, spa, private gym and pebbled walkways. It belongs to wealthy businessman and eco-activist Mark Schulhof.

The writer is funny and level-headed.

She's written another piece on the doco, just as good.

I understand famous people hating the media and photographers, but the Sussexes' comparisons of Meghan to Diana is off, and always seems so desperate. Diana was a teenage virgin who probably didn't know herself very well yet and definitely couldn't have known what her marriage and life in the royal family would be like. Meghan was an independent, nearly-40 divorcee with an industry career when she met (the younger than her) Harry, and she went into the marriage with her eyes wide open, knowing, as the world did, that there's a lot of protocol and pressure in being a Royal, and the press is half-nuts and *will* hound you. They're both so disingenuous to pretend theirs is a love story of two innocents who just want to do good in the world. Oh, please...they wanted lots of fame/attention, and lots of money with none of the duties and responsibilities to the family/system that made Harry so wealthy.

Truth bombs?

The truth is that she is an asshole.

So is he.

BaRF thread at 12 o’clock. Yes to the poster who called it out last time, I'm 12. I was convinced to “Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling.”

When they were camping in a tent on that Botswana date, did she shit in a ditch?

by Anonymousreply 12December 11, 2022 12:53 PM

She probably soiled his face. People like him are into stuff like this.

I can understand not using their own home. Their security fears may be overblown and they may be exaggerating further for sympathy and attention, but they have two young children and may or may not be able to fund a level of security that makes them feel physically safe. They don’t want people to be able to figure out the layout. This is pretty normal.

Unfortunately, the straw that broke the camel’s back was several bales ago and people aren’t going to cut them any slack for anything, especially anything deceptive. Also, I read somewhere else that there is a scene where Meghan holds one of the kids up to a photo of Diana and says, “there’s grandma!” So they brought a photo of Diana with then to stage the set. That’s classic H&M. Reminds me of when they set up their own photo shoot and played pretend event at a military cemetery. Just over the top, extremely transparent artifice.

Honestly, I think a the criticism of them is way, WAY too much, but they make themselves almost impossible to defend. If they hadn’t brought the photo, I could have been on their side.

by Anonymousreply 14December 11, 2022 2:20 PM

It just hit me that H&M’s PR is like Lena Dunham’s styling. It’s so bad you have to wonder if it’s intentional. Someone who just didn’t care wouldn’t try so hard and, consequently, fail so hard.

There are pics of Harry reading stuff to Archie in the living room and of Meghan holding Lidlbet in the nursery, so your point, while not unreasonable, is somewhat moot here.

by Anonymousreply 16December 11, 2022 2:26 PM

Interesting that they appeared to be doing Zoom calls and other interviews from their own home. Plus the photos of the kids/ family they have published were there.

This seems to defeat the "security " concerns.

by Anonymousreply 17December 11, 2022 2:30 PM

OK, I think you are probably right but, just for argument’s sake - don’t people sometimes do shelter magazine spreads, but only with the carefully selected photos? I think it’s possible that they may have decided it’s OK to show the living room and a nursery and an office or whatever in isolation, but still not want to film a documentary there. It’s one thing to see the inside of a room, it’s another to have enough information to know how to get to that room through the rest of the house or through a window or exterior door.

Just throwing that out there as a possibility. Now that I think about it, it’s probably because they didn’t want to have to be nice to the camera crew or keep up their public personas in front of everyone all day long. They could just pop in and out. And Netflix was probably on the hook for the rent, not them.

I’m not buying that they want to pretend they have a bigger, fancier house. Their house is plenty big and fancy enough and I suspect Meghan is very proud of her restoration hardware aesthetic.

FFd. Stealth "I hate Meghan" thread. As if we need more.

by Anonymousreply 19December 11, 2022 4:04 PM

Thanks, R6. Those articles make some good points. Truth is, Meghan, on her own, just isn't interesting. Her backstory is boring. She's got nothing to say that hasn't been said by someone else. And her thirst is obvious.

Lmao that this is bombing. Have they got enough rope yet?

by Anonymousreply 20December 11, 2022 4:48 PM

I ff'ed your post, r19.

by Anonymousreply 21December 11, 2022 5:00 PM

R5 It's not their house? Hilarious!

by Anonymousreply 22December 11, 2022 5:05 PM

OP, are you standing in your own knowing? That's required before dropping truth bombs. Multimillion contracts are also good.

by Anonymousreply 23December 12, 2022 9:25 AM

R18, they have every right to NOT want to show any bit of their own private home. I wouldn’t want a film crew in mine, either.

But staging a dummy nursery, complete with a publicity headshot of Diana is weird. Does Harry not have a regular candid photo of himself and his mom?

It’s oddly FORMAL. Which we all know is very off-putting to Meghan. This woman who uses a British title and stationery bearing a crown cipher despises the formality of the BRF.

by Anonymousreply 24December 12, 2022 10:08 AM

The nursery scene could’ve been shot at the house by Harry or a friend with an iPhone, not a film crew. The sound was different and according to their commercials, iPhones can be used to make films. The photo itself, it’s a beautiful photo but it’s the kind you put in the living room on an end table. Most (sane) people would hang an informal shot of Diana and baby Harry in the nursery.
