Why can't these musicians simply play their fucking music, why do they need to have some fucked up 'image' in order to promote themselves?

Florence was interviewed on either Fallon or Seth Meyers awhile back, she didn't seem insufferable.

Florence was flaky and odd, in that way upper middle class bohemian British people act, especially those who end up as performers tend to be. Florence was much nicer than Madonna has ever been during those types of interviews.

R2 I think musicians need to have an “image” to some extent, both for selling themselves and, maybe to a lesser degree, to shape their art/persona around. However, this can be done in ways that are subtle and smart. Florence’s entire shtick is obscene.

I don't follow her career. I know who she is and some of her songs, but I'm not a fan. Her singing is similar in style to Grace Slick.

I liked some songs on her last album. I saw a couple of the videos, they seemed to be typical Florence. If she wants to be a vampire let her be.

I like her even though I’m not really a fan of her music. She’s melodramatic and gothic in a way that’s harmless and I guess it fuels her creativity. The only thing wrong with cosplaying as a vampire is that it’s so played out.

I feel bad for her. She's so ugly and manly looking. Plastic surgery can't really help large square bone structure (which is what makes her unattractive)

I may be in the minority, but I don't think she's ugly, just a bit androgynous and kind of harsh-looking. As others have noted, it's the intensely square jaw/wide structure of her face that makes her look masculine. She's also always quite thin, so without a little extra fat, her face can quickly become gaunt looking. She also has really intense nasolabial folds and skin creases along her cheekbones, which are most evident when she's smiling.

PS I thought Dance Fever was her best album since Ceremonials (2011). A return to form. Her last album, High as Hope, was a little too depressing for me, which makes sense given that Florence was getting sober at the time.

FW is not everyone's cup of tea, but at least she isn't boring. I had the privilege of seeing her at the Hollywood Bowl recently (box seats, no big deal) and it was like a religious experience (MARY). She really knows how to command an audience, and her outfits are just so gorgeous.

I did think she was in her 50s.

The bad gloomy weather and terrible food sure don't help. Lots of British people smoke and drinking lots of alcohol seems to be their national pastime. So much socializing is done in pubs. I know this is true, I lived there for awhile.

This new dark blood witch phase of hers is admittedly kind of off-putting. I’m not saying I believe in the occult, but…

I loved her first couple of albums. The last two have been extremely disappointing.
