I don't know about plot, but I do like a good setup. I prefer it when they start a scene dressed, for instance. Because that means there will be a reveal.

I enjoy the dramatic set-up more than the comic ones.

One I remember liking not that long ago is the near feature length "A Murdered Heart" (from Naked Sword). It's divided into four parts. It's about three young guys sent to a gay conversion camp.

I’m with r1 completely. I don’t need a dramatic scene or a half hour setup, but I do like a bit of a setup. Just diving in isn’t fun.

The workman coming to the house for instance. Let’s get a buildup. If the guy answers the door in a towel and the workman drops to his knees, that’s not enjoyable. If the workman comes in, does a little work while maybe the other guy either flirts with him or is ostensibly oblivious the guy is looking at his bulge in the towel, etc. that’s a lot more fun.

I have TV shows for plots and twists. I have porn to get off. In and out. I skip everything that isn't kissing or fucking or caressing.

Just action. No one is here for a story or music. Just fuck.

I like a dramatic setup. I like the buildup, the anticipation, the tension. I don’t need porn for that but a nice slow burn that leads into excellent sex is the kind of scene I can rewatch over and over. I don’t need a scene that’s all about sex. Too many porn scenes waste my time by focusing on the bj, then the rimming, then the fuck -from every uncomfortable angle. Imagine a scene where the passion built up to the sex, and the actors kept in character. It’s a fantasy-it needs a setup. Even amateur films have setups!

Being a fan of the Golden Age/‘90s porn, I miss the music. Porn is notorious for featuring bad music, but gay porn used to have some good melodies. I’d rewatch a few scenes just for the music!

Your question would imply that porn models could act in a remotely believable manner OP
