Princess Catherine wears emerald art deco choker Diana once sported

"Big emeralds? Oh yes, the Palace just loves letting me wear the big emeralds. Nothing is too fancy for the King's favorite daughter-in-law."

She looks like Britney Jean Spears...

without the emojis over her tits and hoo-haw

by Anonymousreply 1December 3, 2022 5:30 PM

She's performing royal duties, OP. Why shouldn't she wear a choker that belonged to her husband's grandmother and was made widely known by her mother-in-law and predecessor as Princess of Wales?

by Anonymousreply 2December 3, 2022 5:32 PM

I think my post went right over your head, r2.

by Anonymousreply 3December 3, 2022 5:36 PM

The light in America is not kind to her. Literally.

Her face…?

by Anonymousreply 4December 3, 2022 5:39 PM

I also don’t get why she’s wearing neon green with emerald green. This is not hard.

by Anonymousreply 5December 3, 2022 5:40 PM

That’s a nice fucking necklace.

by Anonymousreply 6December 3, 2022 5:41 PM

Emeralds on white women is a sign of racism!!

by Anonymousreply 7December 3, 2022 5:42 PM

Your post is nonsense, r3/OP. That's the problem.

by Anonymousreply 8December 3, 2022 5:45 PM

Catherine gets what Catherine wants.

by Anonymousreply 9December 3, 2022 5:45 PM

I think her face looks good, albeit a little shiny. Dress looks cheap and the necklace doesn’t go with it in both color and neckline of the dress. It looks like those chokers from from the 90s. Kind of gaudy. Larger earrings with no necklace would have looked better.

by Anonymousreply 10December 3, 2022 5:50 PM

Where the fuck did she get that dress? Did Marge Simpson have yard sale? And why would she wear that out in public? That was a CHOICE.

by Anonymousreply 11December 3, 2022 5:54 PM

She looks like the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Girl.

by Anonymousreply 12December 3, 2022 5:58 PM

R11, it’s a pretty big choice for a member of the RF to wear anything green in Irish Boston. I think that the dress is, in fact, inexpensive, while the choker is worth many millions.

by Anonymousreply 13December 3, 2022 6:01 PM

I find white women don't look good in jewelry. I associate that with oriental dusky looks.

Well, maybe a single string of pearls.

by Anonymousreply 14December 3, 2022 6:06 PM

Will and Kate are everything!

by Anonymousreply 15December 3, 2022 6:10 PM

The theme of the Earthshot event was to not wear anything new.
... In keeping with the event's earth-friendly theme, guests were asked not to purchase new dresses or suits for the evening. Kate adhered to the sustainable fashion guidelines in a bright green off-the-shoulder gown by Solace London, which she rented from HURR, a rental platform in the U.K. for designer dresses. She accessorized her look with the ultimate rewear — an emerald and diamond choker that belonged to Princess Diana. She also wore halo emerald and diamond earrings mounted in platinum by Asprey.

The necklace, while often worn by Diana, was originally Queen Mary. So, it's part of the royal collection.

Do they have a guard that watches Kate's jewel box when she is out and about? Or, is she wearing the paste versions when traveling?

by Anonymousreply 17December 3, 2022 6:13 PM

Every time the Princess of Wales is photographed in the family jewels a hapless ginger in Montecito has to duck to avoid being hit in the head by the vases and candlesticks tossed by an enraged twat.

by Anonymousreply 18December 3, 2022 6:14 PM

She. Is. FABULOUS.

by Anonymousreply 19December 3, 2022 6:15 PM

Why do gay men, who have never looked at a woman with lust in their hearts, think they're the ultimate authority on what women should wear?

I love her.

by Anonymousreply 20December 3, 2022 6:16 PM
Why do gay men, who have never looked at a woman with lust in their hearts, think they're the ultimate authority on what women should wear?

Well, someone has to provide her guidance.

I mean, if we need some sports info, especially softball and golf, we ask our lesbian sisters what's what.

by Anonymousreply 21December 3, 2022 6:18 PM
Why do gay men, who have never looked at a woman with lust in their hearts, think they're the ultimate authority on what women should wear?

We can still have opinions on fashion. You don’t lust after men, but I bet you can tell when a man is badly dressed. (Want to test this theory? Google “Sam Brinton.”)

by Anonymousreply 22December 3, 2022 6:29 PM

That neon green doesn’t flatter her at all but then I’ve noticed that she often picks colors that don’t work for her. And it clashes with the necklace.

by Anonymousreply 23December 3, 2022 6:33 PM

That's not a flattering dress on her. The color is not nice, as well.

The emerald jewelry is beautiful, though.

by Anonymousreply 24December 3, 2022 6:36 PM

What r19 said.

And I think it's an open question that the negative comments about Kate are by gay men.

As for "FABULOUS", that's exactly the term.

I analyze Kate's choices of gown and appearance by what the future Queen of England, and, presently Princess of Wales optimally should be.

She's flawless in that regard. To the point that its boring.

"Daring" and "edgy" are outside the four corners of the job description for PoW and the future Queen of the UK.

by Anonymousreply 25December 3, 2022 6:40 PM
Every time the Princess of Wales is photographed in the family jewels...

by Anonymousreply 26December 3, 2022 6:46 PM

She looks so terrible in that outfit.

by Anonymousreply 27December 3, 2022 6:49 PM

They were wearing RECYCLED clothing to go with the climate awareness theme. Kate's was a rental and Will's was a recycled tux.

by Anonymousreply 28December 3, 2022 6:49 PM

Not to mention all the dinosaurs who were recycled by the earth as diamonds to accent that beautiful necklace.

by Anonymousreply 29December 3, 2022 6:51 PM
Why do gay men, who have never looked at a woman with lust in their hearts, think they're the ultimate authority on what women should wear?

Why does a lesbian think people who lust after women are better experts than those people who do not? What does lust have to do with fashion?

by Anonymousreply 30December 3, 2022 6:53 PM

She looks stunning in the dress. I love the color!

by Anonymousreply 31December 3, 2022 6:56 PM
Why do gay men, who have never looked at a woman with lust in their hearts, think they're the ultimate authority on what women should wear?

The "lust in their hearts" (straight men) clouds judgment. If women dressed for straight men, only, then you'd end up with hoochie mama outfits on a lot of women.

by Anonymousreply 32December 3, 2022 6:59 PM
If women dressed for straight men, only, then you'd end up with hoochie mama outfits on a lot of women.

I fail to see the problem here.

by Anonymousreply 34December 3, 2022 7:09 PM

She looks great in the dress re the off the shoulder shape, but maybe they could have dyed it another color. The shade of green is just odd looking to me. Neon colors remind me of the 70s and I guess I hated that decade.

by Anonymousreply 35December 3, 2022 7:14 PM

She’s pretty, but that dress is NOT flattering. She has small breasts and it accentuates them in a weird way.

by Anonymousreply 36December 3, 2022 7:24 PM

Supposedly, Diana's personal jewelry was divided between William and Harry. Yet, only Kate seems to wear any of it, suggesting that William actually got most of it, or at least all the good stuff.

by Anonymousreply 37December 3, 2022 7:32 PM

It is a bit of a weird cut for off the shoulder, r36. I think the bright color makes the flaws of the cut more apparent, although Kate looks good in off the shoulder looks. Dr. Jill wore an off the shoulder look that was fabulous at the State Dinner. Btw, I think both women had a little subtle work done to their faces. They both looked refreshed.

by Anonymousreply 39December 3, 2022 7:57 PM

The necklace is beautiful, but that color of the dress is hideous. The dress fits her like a glove and would have been absolutely perfect, in another color.

I remember when Princess Diana wore the necklace as a headband. I didn't care for her dress she wore that night either.

Kate's dress was almost the same exact color as the carpet.

I actually really like Kate in emerald green, but that light green looks a bit like she's planning to be a floating head and shoulders on a green-screen projection.

The Dowager Countess of Trentham was correct: "Difficult color, green..." Not many people can wear it, and even fewer people can wear all shades of it.

by Anonymousreply 42December 3, 2022 8:02 PM

I need to see a pic of Princess Diana wearing that choker as a headband.

The neckline of the dress is cutting across her body in an unflattering way. She’s got a long torso, which is nice, but the bisection of her chest area accentuates the length of the body in a weird way.

by Anonymousreply 45December 3, 2022 8:17 PM

Thank you, R44 this is fabulous!

by Anonymousreply 46December 3, 2022 8:25 PM

According to the color analysis people Kate is a Summer but I think she does better with Winter colors (black, grey, navy, burgundy). She should avoid anything warm-hued or tinged with yellow, which is why the dress at OP’s link doesn't work. She also seems to be fond of pastels which wash her out and don’t suit her at all.

by Anonymousreply 47December 3, 2022 8:28 PM

I actually think Kate is an Autumn, which is why she should wear jewel tones: deep emerald green, deep sapphire blue, deep amethyst purple.

by Anonymousreply 48December 3, 2022 8:33 PM

It wasn't part of Diana's personal jewellery collection, r37. It first belonged to Queen Mary, who gave it to her granddaughter Queen Elizabeth, who gave it to Diana, so it's part of the family collection, to be worn by a female royal, e.g. the Queen or Princess of Wales, at special events. I think after Diana died, the emerald choker went back to the Queen.

by Anonymousreply 49December 3, 2022 8:41 PM

The color "works" because it was the shade for the event and looked great outside in the evening. Catherine wore plaids and darker colors for the daytime events. The shoes were rented, too.

by Anonymousreply 50December 3, 2022 8:43 PM

It seems Queen Liz gave some fashion sense to Catherine with all her bright colors. That green looks like it came from Liz's easter egg collection. Remember, the future Queen must always be seen from a distance!

by Anonymousreply 51December 3, 2022 8:53 PM

Yea, what't this thing about rented clothes? Seems Cathy want to look frugal for a 90 pound frock, but I am sure the designers made it just for her. Having a future Queen wear your clothes is everything!

by Anonymousreply 52December 3, 2022 8:55 PM

I think OP is wrong. Wouldn't she be Princess William or Catherine, Princess of Wales. There is no such thing as Princess Catherine. The only princess is their daughter. Charlotte.

by Anonymousreply 53December 3, 2022 8:57 PM

R18 has a very active fantasy life. Odd but not clever.

“Princess Catherine”

Oh Christ. Do we have to do this again? Also, stop calling her Kate Middleton.

by Anonymousreply 61December 3, 2022 9:31 PM

How are we supposed to name her, R61?

by Anonymousreply 62December 3, 2022 9:34 PM

I’m a stickler for correct titles and styles, but “HRH The Princess of Wales” isn’t as fun and media-friendly as “Princess Diana” or “Princess Catherine”. And in the US, very few news anchors understand the proper use of royal titles and styles in the first place. So, it’s probably not even worth a thought.

by Anonymousreply 63December 3, 2022 10:00 PM

Couldn't Kate have recycled one of her own dresses instead of that godawful polyester-looking green thing? She has a dark green gown that always reminds me of Scarlett O'Hara that I thought she looked particularly good in.

by Anonymousreply 64December 3, 2022 10:16 PM

I think OP is wrong. Wouldn't she be Princess William or Catherine, Princess of Wales. There is no such thing as Princess Catherine.

The press on both sides of the Atlantic regularly headlined Diana as "Princess Diana" and "Princess Di."Everyone knew who they were talking about.

I am not trying to follow palace protocol any more than newspapers are. You know exactly to whom i was referring: piss off with your persnickety anal-retentive attempts to follow the styles dictated by the [italic]Court Circular,[/italic] nor am I trying to curry favor with any ocurtiers. I am not a British subject so I need not refer to her according to any protocol--I only need to clearly convey to whom I am referring.

Or to put it more simply: unclench, Miss Prisspot.

by Anonymousreply 65December 3, 2022 10:24 PM

Princess Catherine's wearing green was because of the "greenness" of the event, and had nothing to do with Ireland.

Currently Ireland and the UK are not at war, and there is little violence in Northern Ireland, so it was not a problem for her to wear the dress or the choker.

by Anonymousreply 66December 3, 2022 10:31 PM

How does the future King and Queen schlep through the Boston airport without everyone googling at them and wanting selfies.

I read on the internet that they forgot to bring a tiara to Australia, so Di made do.

by Anonymousreply 74December 4, 2022 1:33 AM

She looks terrible in this dress, it doesn't fit her properly at all and it's not her color. Her face also looks really severe and I think it's mostly the makeup.

The choker is Queen Mary's, it's one of the chokers she would wear when she would put on literally five of them at once and have her portrait taken.

It’s not the same with the Queen 👸 gone.

by Anonymousreply 87December 4, 2022 4:56 PM

R72 I like the necklace as a headband on Diana. It reminds me of Olivia Newton John in the Physical video.

by Anonymousreply 88December 4, 2022 6:40 PM

I love the headband, as well. It's what makes the piece so iconic and why it is so recognizable.

Kate's dress to me was less about the color and all about the fit. She really does have the perfect body for clothing. Not many 40 year old women would pull this off, "not even with all the Spanx in the world" as quoted by someone upthread, which made me laugh. I would love to see Meghan try to pull any of this off with her square body, spindly legs and chicken cutlet titties.

by Anonymousreply 89December 4, 2022 6:50 PM

She has skinny legs R89 but the rest of your statement is absurd. Kate had odd proportions too. People have different builds but the Middleton gal is anorexic and too thin so of course she looks good in tight clothes.

by Anonymousreply 90December 4, 2022 6:55 PM

R90, I am jealous of Kate's money and I think I could enjoy the perks of royal life, but as a gay cis man, I'm not jealous of not being able to fit into a slinky green dress. Perhaps you are projecting. Bottom line, whether you like it or not, Meghan absolutely could not pull that dress off. That's a fact.

by Anonymousreply 103December 4, 2022 9:21 PM

I liked the dress. Not everyone could get away with it, and Ideally the colour would be slightly muted, but she has the model-like figure to wear it well. The simple lines complimented her figure and the colour contrasted well with her skin and hair colouring. And it gave her the chance to break out that beautiful necklace.

I really do think Kate has an eating disorder. I don’t like how anything looks on her because she is too thin and has no shape. Even the thinnest of models have some curve. Kate’s body is literally straight as a board. Jennifer Aniston has the most ideal body, she’s toned.

I do think Kate has an eating disorder. Calves are largely genetic. I have muscular calves, no matter what I do or don't do, no matter what I eat or don't eat. The rest of my body is another story.

The necklace is magnificent, but the dress is hideous. I wish she had either gone with vintage and made it a real fashion moment, or picked a dress that put all the attention on the necklace. (Thank god she didn’t wear it as a headband like Diana - it looks so silly.)

Bad eye makeup is more likely the culprit than a facelift, but wonky/unmatched eyebrows are a sign of Botox, and she’s had that mismatch for a little bit now.

by Anonymousreply 125December 5, 2022 12:10 AM

The neckline was wrong. It should've been higher (boat neck) or lower and truly off-shoulder. It made her chest area look too long.

by Anonymousreply 126December 5, 2022 12:20 AM

A plain black velvety dress would have offset the emeralds like nobody's business.

Pity she can't really do plunge fronts in her position, because that would have been even more stunning.

by Anonymousreply 127December 5, 2022 12:29 AM

R124, exactly. Anyone with eyesight can see she has a eating disorder and the camera adds 10 Ibs they say. The excuses are flabbergasting. She doesn’t look healthy or strong. It’s no joke and I hope she gets help.

by Anonymousreply 128December 5, 2022 12:37 AM

If she's as severely anamia as everyone says, though, how did she bear three healthy children without a noticeably lengthy convalescence after each? Medicine can only do so much, even the best money can buy.

by Anonymousreply 129December 5, 2022 12:38 AM
R128 The eating disorder is no joke and I hope she gets help.

I don’t. Let her waste away entirely.

by Anonymousreply 130December 5, 2022 12:39 AM

I don’t think it’s classic anorexia but rather a very, very, very strict diet - which some would consider disordered eating (I do) but others would consider healthy. Something like Victoria Beckham’s “plain chicken or fish and steamed vegetables only, no oil” requirement. No booze apart from photo ops. Probably stemming from understandable anxiety about everyone in the world looking at her and being constantly photographed. But she looks so much prettier and younger with more weight on.

by Anonymousreply 131December 5, 2022 12:44 AM

I think it's called sour grapes.

by Anonymousreply 132December 5, 2022 1:08 AM

R131, you’re spot on. She’s not anorexic, but she’s very thin. Look how we scrutinize both Kate and Meghan’s looks and bodies. No wonder they are neurotic about their looks.

by Anonymousreply 133December 5, 2022 1:12 AM

Well, after seeing the future Queen looking so fabulous, it just makes smegs look like a pig wallerin in it's shit.

by Anonymousreply 134December 5, 2022 1:43 AM

Not exactly what I meant when I said "give her the choker".

by Anonymousreply 135December 5, 2022 1:50 AM

That green dress is awful. The material has no structure at all.

by Anonymousreply 136December 5, 2022 3:32 AM

R129 it's just the obese Sussex stinkfish cunts who are bringing up Kate's "anorexia" on a regular basis, just ignore them.

They probably look like beached whales, the lot of them.
Kate's dress to me was less about the color and all about the fit. She really does have the perfect body for clothing.

But not for this dress. The silhouette from the back is fine, but the front gives her body a bizarre shape. It's the neckline combined with the disproportionate tailoring they had to do for her long torso. She can look good in almost any kind of dress because of her body shape, but not this one, which is why it's so striking; you'd almost have to go out of your way to make her look bad in a gown.

Two things would have vastly improved this look: sleeves up and not off the shoulder, and a bra that gave her more lift.

She's also gone a shade darker with her hair, and she's been matching her eyebrows to it, which gives her a more severe look. She may be making her brows a little thicker to help camouflage that they're lopsided now, but she needs to work on the color of her brows. Even back when her hair had some lovely blonde and red tones in it, her brows were too solid and dark. Now that the hair is dark, it looks worse.

R138 oh, I hadn’t seen the heels. They’re rather...um...well. Rather Strictly, aren’t they?

by Anonymousreply 140December 5, 2022 10:52 AM

I like the shoes.

by Anonymousreply 141December 5, 2022 11:10 AM

I di too. They are also rented.

by Anonymousreply 142December 5, 2022 11:29 AM

The dress is awful. The faces are fine. The Prince would look better with a WHITE T-SHIRT under that dress shirt. TO make the white pop. It's a tiny bit transparent under the lights so doesn't look flat white.

by Anonymousreply 143December 5, 2022 11:34 AM

Why does Kate dress so matronly? Her best looks were between the wedding and getting pregnant with George. Back then it seemed like she couldn’t miss—every look was youthful, sophisticated, and fresh. Now it looks like she wears repurposed shit from Chico’s or Ann Taylor. Her only notable look from the past few years is the dress she wore at the latest James Bond premiere.

by Anonymousreply 144December 5, 2022 11:43 AM

Oh, and the reason Kate’s male tends to look bad is because she does it herself. On a scale of WNBA Player (0) to Drag Queen (10), she tends to prefer 7.

by Anonymousreply 145December 5, 2022 11:48 AM

male = makeup

by Anonymousreply 146December 5, 2022 11:49 AM

r144: it's because it's a time of austerity again in the UK. There are headlines in the Guardian about people in the UK having to decide between feeding their dog this winter or having enough food for their children.

If Kate dressed as glamorously or as expensively as Diana did during the later Thatcher years, she'd look grotesquely insensitive.
