Unlikely Holiday Film Pick, "Tangerine" (2015) I Love This Film, Do You?
A hooker tears through Tinseltown on Christmas Eve searching for the pimp who broke her heart.
"After twenty-eight long days of absence, Sin-Dee is back on the block. It's Christmastime, and everyone wants to get into the festive spirit; however, Sin-Dee is in for a shock when she accidentally discovers that Chester, the love of her life, has been cheating on her. And to think that poor Sin-Dee has been making plans for the future. To save what's left of her dignity, heartbroken Sin-Dee embarks on a desperate mission to locate two-timing Chester, and no one can stop her--not even her best friend Alexandra, who vainly tries to be the voice of reason. Now, nothing can stand in the way of justice. After all, who wants to live a lie?" —Nick Riganas
This film was shot exclusively on three iPhone 5s smartphones, along with the Moondog Labs' anamorphic clip on lens and a $8 app, FiLMiC Pro in addition to Steadicam Smoothee Mounts. Director Sean Baker revealed this at the Sundance Film Festival.

It reminded me of a 1970s low-budget sex farce, I really liked it.

Have only seen it once, but this film is in my Top Ten. Aside from the brilliant storyline, acting, dialogue, etc., it captures for me the essence of LA and SoCal. Am an SF native who was forced to visit LA frequently after my parents' divorce in the 1970's, which were appalling. (The visits to LA, not the divorce). Somehow "Tangerine" helped resolve those feelings about LA and allowed me to see what it is for what it is with a strange form of affection. And all filmed with an iPhone?! Had no idea. Need to watch it again.
