In case his “Heterosexuality Can Be Cured” Coachella billboard wasn’t enough of a hint, R&B singer-songwriter Omar Apollo is gay and he does enjoy sucking dick, thank you very much.
On Monday, the Grammy nominee took to Twitter to respond to a fan who questioned whether he was “queerbaiting,” a term that’s become practically inescapable on the gay interwebs. It’s historically been applied to TV shows and other forms of media implying LGBTQ+ relationships or attraction to attract a queer audience with no actual interest in depicting such relationships. But in more recent years, celebrities and other real-life figures have been accused of “queerbaiting” when they’re allegedly making themselves seem queer when they’re not, which can get…thorny, at the very least! “Is Omar Apollo another queerbaiting singer?” the Twitter user asked. “Like those type ‘I don’t label myself, let me wear cropped and paint my nails and I say I find another guy hot’ cuz I like his song but I don’t like supporting straight men doing queerbaiting.”
Apollo’s simple and sweet response? “no i b sucking dick fr.”
