Does he like liquor or candy?

Good luck.
Movie passes? Netflix subscription?
Does he need help with chores? Spending a day repairing shit he needs repaired is really appreciated.
Pay for a few massage sessions at a good health spa. Seniors need healthy touch and rarely get any. Its healing. He might destress.

Track down any friends from his past who are still alive--it may even be good to get in contact with their children--to have them call him on his birthday.
Maybe set up a group call or Zoom chat.
There probably isn't anything in the world he would like better.

My dad lived in a co-op…he was always a techie so one yrs I got him a roomba. He got such a big kick out of it…he loved the way it docked itself
Another time, I bought him a good quality heated blanket because his building was cheap giving out heat and he was in his 90$.
He also had wrist pain from a fall so I repackaged some medi weed in gel form using my Fl medical marijuana cardand sent it to him for the pain…didn’t tell him it was thc based…it helped
