ATJ was very menacing in Nocturnal Animals, as the guy terrorizing Jake Gyllenhaal and family in the story-within-the-story. I definitely didn't get "femme" out of that performance, or when he played John Lennon, or in his supporting role in Tenet. I haven't seen his MCU work or the other movies mentioned here.

For those not up on the history, the older woman to whom he's married is director Sam Taylor. The relationship began when he was cast as young John Lennon in her movie Nowhere Boy in the late 2000s. He was in his late teens, she in her early forties and married to a different man. He was just Aaron Johnson originally, but they both became hyphenates when they married.

I think ATJ is fine as an actor I imagine if he or his team are putting this idea out there that he feels his career is in a bit of a rut. Once you play Bond there’s no guarantee that you will have a great offers afterwards. I guess Daniel Craig broke the mould for Bond and made it okay for edgier actors to want to work on something so mainstream as Bond.

In some ways he has the perfect profile for getting the role- he’s known but not too known and isn’t easily identifiable with any particular part yet. Some of the suggestions are too identifiable. Joe Alwyn is another who is just the right amount of known and unknown. Guys like Henry Cavill and Jamie Dornan are already too known from Superman and Fifty Shades respectively.

Would love it to go to someone like Idris but I feel he’s probably considered too old now.

Agree Jamie Dornan is a much better candidate, although he’s quite a bland actor as well, but at least he’s beautiful and and has the physique du role.
