What is the best turtleneck to hide a sagging neck? Any suggestions?
Best turtleneck for men?

I wish I could wear turtlenecks, but my neck beard is kind of heavy so they become uncomfortable.

I'm interested also. I'd like some that don't stretch out with use and are tight around the neck.
Lighter fabric than a knit sweater. I like to wear them under flannel shirts.
Haven't been able to find a proper fit turtleneck in years.

if you want to hide a sagging neck the solution is growing a beard to hide it.

Leave me out of this.

Most men (and women) really don't look very good in turtlenecks, IMHO, which highlight the very flaws some people want to disguise: short necks, narrow shoulders, flabby chests (for men).
I would find a collared shirt that flatters your face and fits your upper body correctly.

I like ribbed cashmere turtleneck sweaters. They're soft and they have give. It's hard to find good quality now, though. I bought mine in Milano years ago and they're still like new.
Next time you're in Milano any good men's wear shop should have them. And you can still get great quality.
In the meantime this one is fairly nice, but the quality is sure to be crap. It won't endure 10 years.

Why not a dickie turtleneck? I remember wearing those when I was a kid.

The sweater at r8 is Ralph Lauren Merino wool

R8 it’s ‘Milan’ in English, unless the rest of your post was meant to be in Italian

Please, men: avoid the 1990s Steve Job mock turtleneck at all costs. Nothing looks more antiquated.
I can't believe you can even buy such an item in 2022, but apparently you can.

R12, some of us live in cold climates where many wear them as a practical layer. But I’m all ears on other options! I know Brunello Cucinelli has numerous variations in collar heights on garments. OP, go to the RealReal and search that line of clothing.

I wear turtlenecks, mostly the mock ones. They cover aging neck.
By the way, R11, turtlenecks are classic. They're never out of style. You can wear them with sweaters, sports jackets, and button down shirts.

Every man on the planet looks good in a black turtleneck sweater, stylish blue jeans and a classic shoe like a fine loafer.
Swap the blue jeans at night with stylish black trousers. Can't go wrong.

Different strokes. I like wearing them because I have a long neck, or tall neck, whichever illustrates it better. So far, no sagging neck. For whatever reason, I look better when that gap between 'shoulders' and 'face' is covered, bringing my head closer to my body, visually.
I'm shit outta luck in the summer. I try to wear high collared shirts, but that's not always an option with light-weight fabrics, or collarless shirts.

Great advice R8 for a board where the closest the average poster has ever gotten to "Milano" is the Pepperidge Farm aisle in the local supermarket.

I like turtlenecks. Haven’t worn them in years. I’m actually thinking about going out and buying some. I think I have an above average neck length and luckily at 67 as of tomorrow my neck seems to not be sagging to much. Basically, I just like the way I look in them.

Miss R8 is quite the cosmopolite; she only buys her tasteful clothing in Europe.

I think a lot of people have a sentimental attachment to turtlenecks because they appear so often in celeb portraits, framing the handsome face of a famous actor or model or athlete or writer like Hemingway.
Regrettably, most of us don't have faces like a a famous actor or model or athlete or writer like Hemingway.

I love turtlenecks. My standard uniform is a tweed or black blazer, turtleneck, and jeans in winter. These I found on Amazon of all places, and they're inexpensive and a nice light weight. I think I bought them in 5 or 6 colors.

...and don't forget to tuck your hand under your chin like Kate, as well!
by Anonymous | reply 33 | November 21, 2022 7:45 PM |
But a merino wool one. It's lighter, not itchy and it'll keep its shape. Also it relatively easy to layer under a blazer.
