Why Republicans won the Latin vote in Florida
TAMPA — Elsie Perez suffers from acute renal failure and receives dialysis three times a week. Every month she frets over how she will make ends meet.
“Everything has gone up and it is very difficult to live in these conditions,” said Perez, 54, a Mexican-born mother of two adult children.
Perez is a Democrat but now she regrets it. She pointed to the unique challenges she faces with inflation and the economy.
“That’s why I voted differently,” she said.

Republicans appeal to the Christian roots of Latino voters.
Many Latinos are business owners and Rs appeal to them on that point.

Here's the stats for presidential elections and the Latino vote. Nearly every election, regardless of what party, the incumbent president wins the Latino vote.
It's not a surprise that incumbent governors are the same.
I suspect Edwwin is just spamming us with this shit because he doesn't like what's going on in the threads about his beloved Republicans conjuring up so much hate for LGBTs that we're getting massacred again because of it. Fat fuck Edwwin thinks if he loves the Republicans, they'll love him back.

The Daily Show spoke about this two years ago. Many Latinos identify with the values the Republicans purport to represent. Also, Latinos aren't a monolith in this country, and most certainly don't want to be grouped under the umbrella term of Latinx. Many actually want to assimilate to the MAGA perception of what "real" American culture is.

This last election was very close. TOO CLOSE. The presidential election was close, considering what a scumbag, piece of shit trump is and how he fucked up the country.
And yes, stupid bitch Elsie is probably on some form of assistance. Probably medicaid or Obamacare and disability. All of which she might lose if the repugs were elected. But you won't hear the democrats telling her that. For the 22 year running, the democrats can't be bothered with messaging. I hate everything about the republicans, but the democrats are weak and lazy.
And even the younger people in Florida (who just had $10,000 to $20,000 handed to them in loan forgiveness) either didn't vote or voted for the republicans. That's sad and pathetic. They also had thousands handed to them during the pandemic and many have their bastard children courtesy of the taxpayers through Medicaid (at a minimum cost of $20,000 per child). They also received checks every month, for their children, courtesy of the democrats. But the democrats don't even mention that. Instead of handing that money to them, they should have made them apply for it.

I would like to know what drives republican voters to assume that the gop will fix inflation without discussing a plan of action. If they think it’s by lowering taxes they should consider the big gift the gop gave corporations under the last administration at our expense which we are still paying off.
Finally this Elsie is probably getting some sort of gov assistance due to her condition which would exempt her from paying income tax anyways.

Yeah, the Latino community is fairly traditional…I think they’re fine with diversity, but for the most part, they respect macho. Not saying they’re toxic about their masculinity, but the majority would never…want their son to cut off his penis. Or have their grandmother share a public restroom with a man in a mini-skirt. They think we are nuts for pushing that. And they’re right. This is not a hill we want to die on.

DeSantis created the most effective voter registration drive in the 2022 cycle, adding to the Republican gains from among those who were born in or moved to Florida. Republicans now outnumber Democrats for the first time in state history. If a significant majority of New Yorkers who came to Florida during the past decade still lived in their former state, and had been there to vote for Zeldin, the gubernatorial race results may have turned out differently.

Why do the dems just sit back and take the blame? Trump is directly responsible for the economy we have today. Bush Jr fucking crashed the economy and it took Obama a good four years to turn it around. Why is this fuckng mess Biden's fault when we are still feeling the effects fo Trumps economic polices, trade wars and ineffectual Covid response? Hell if Trump had won it would be worse. History has proven over and over the Republicans fuck up the economy - (Nixon, Reagan, Bush, Bush Jr, Trump) and the Dems fix it (Clinton, Obama, Biden).

Nonsense R62. Bush cooked the books and lied about the economy for eight years. At the end of his term it was in freefall. Obama got a small stimulus, but republicans blocked the rest. They also blocked the public option and expansion of medical schools to stop the cost controls Obama wanted in ACA. However, the first years were relatively low cost as companies actually competed before raising their prices because the public had become indifferent. The public are far to the left of both parties. They would like government health care, nationalized oil and gas, and an end to Wall Street hedge funds and unregulated financial instruments. They would like more transparency in corporate America and workers on the boards of directors of all public companies. They would like better transit infrastructure and an end to college price fixing. They would like to see K street gutted and campaign finance limits. They would like to see conservative media monopolies broken up and people like Elon Musk taxed so much they have ability to meddle in politics.
