Why do some women want MASSIVE dresses and veils at their weddings?

Naomi Biden used enough organza and Chantilly lace to clothe all of Kolkata. Scroll down at the link to see how insanely oversized the dress and veil are.

What is this trying to say?

"I'm important!"?

"Whatever Princess Diana ha for her wedding, I want even more!"?

Yep....disgusting

by Anonymousreply 1November 20, 2022 10:43 PM

Blame Disney. They all want to be Cinderella for a day!

by Anonymousreply 2November 20, 2022 10:43 PM

I wouldn't begrudge a woman her princess fairytale dress, if the marriage itself actually lasted.

by Anonymousreply 3November 20, 2022 10:45 PM

I thought you were being too critical based on the photo in your post but when you go to the website you can really see how ridiculous that veil truly is.

by Anonymousreply 4November 20, 2022 10:45 PM

It's called a cathedral veil, but it would only be appropriate to the scale of a cathedral.

by Anonymousreply 5November 20, 2022 10:46 PM

It appears to be the length of a fucking football field, at least.

by Anonymousreply 6November 20, 2022 10:49 PM

The Bidens are wealthy and can afford it. There’s something weird about the bride being dressed up so elaborately in white, as a virgin, like that.

The problem is when middle class people blow their wad, trying to have a wedding like that. They should save their money for land and a house.

by Anonymousreply 7November 20, 2022 10:49 PM

Why not?

by Anonymousreply 8November 20, 2022 10:50 PM

Who gives a shit? I will take her look anyway over some of the whore-like bridal garments we are seeing. She looks elegant.

by Anonymousreply 9November 20, 2022 10:50 PM

First, OP why do you care? It's not your wedding, nor are you wearing the dress or veil.

Two, as someone mentioned it's a cathedral length veil which even when not marrying in such a church many brides prefer in lieu of a train.

After wedding is over and pictures taken veil can be taken off and that's that. OTOH unless you're someone like Lady Diana newly married to Prince of Wales coping with all that fabric training behind you for several hours gets tiresome.

Naomi Biden's dress had more of a full ballgown shape. Such skirts aren't conducive to long trains. For one thing the extra fabric throws weight of skirts off.

Why should any of the stuff posted on Datalounge be anyone's business, except for directly political stuff?

This is a gossip board (as you well know, and which is why you came here in the first place), and so we will all discuss whatever we like. if you don't like that, then [bold]FUCK OFF, YOU HYPOCRITICAL CUNT.[/bold]

Designers of Diana Spencer's wedding gown solved train issue with a tried and true solution; train is suspended from waist as a separate part of gown.

Actually a new category has emerged to for very long trains on wedding gowns: "royal". Presumably because nowadays no one but royalty, the aristocracy, and select others bother.

I don’t know why. Why would anyone here know or care?

by Anonymousreply 14November 20, 2022 11:13 PM

She got married at the White House, which is a very large elegant mansion, and the residence of the head of state of the most powerful country in the world. She can have a football field long veil if she damn well pleases.

by Anonymousreply 15November 20, 2022 11:15 PM

Good thing she didn't "do a Madonna" on those stairs. Would have killed her.

My husbear is SASA and he insisted that I wear a dress to our wedding. I am a chubby strict bottom and I didn’t mind. Even wore high heels, which excited my masc hubby to no end!

by Anonymousreply 17November 20, 2022 11:21 PM

OP photo reminded me of this image.

OP just wanted to bash the Bidens.

Go back to your Marjorie Taylor Greene rally

by Anonymousreply 19November 20, 2022 11:23 PM

What r4 said. I was ready to pooh-pooh the OP. Then I saw the veil.

by Anonymousreply 20November 20, 2022 11:24 PM

Queen Elizabeth's wedding dress started the trend in the 1940s

I guess the long veil isn't as bad as the long train.

by Anonymousreply 22November 20, 2022 11:35 PM

Am a femcel more or less, but to my hypothetical never-gonna-happen wedding I'd not be seen dead in a veil & train. There's a good chance I wouldn't even wear a dress.

Naomi's football stadium length train was almost as distracting as her 1980's style heavy eyebrows.

by Anonymousreply 24November 20, 2022 11:42 PM

Except OP/R11 your post as worded isn't gossip, but ranting bordering on diatribe.

by Anonymousreply 25November 21, 2022 12:20 AM

Breeder Weddings…..waste of money. Most end in divorce and some crotch droppings. Tragic for all that silliness…. Bachelorette parties, rings, tossing the bouquet, pix, gifts, the first dance…..show us the video of the wedding night and I MIGHT be interested.

by Anonymousreply 26November 21, 2022 12:37 AM

I don't even notice the dress - just those huge caterpillar eyebrows.

by Anonymousreply 27November 21, 2022 12:50 AM

Because it's thinning and flattering.

by Anonymousreply 28November 21, 2022 12:53 AM

Very 1970s style dress.

by Anonymousreply 29November 21, 2022 12:54 AM

Beautiful Naomi Biden...

I bet OP pulled a big train on his wedding day.

Did the dykey cousin wear a suit?

What an ugly wedding dress.

by Anonymousreply 33November 21, 2022 6:24 AM

Nervousness in the weeks before your big day leads to weight loss. Substantial weight is shed, even in the days before. How many times can you go back to have the gown refit on you? Can you do that last minute? It isn't just nerves, brides-to-be are BUSY, too busy to eat as much as usual. Some women want to and try to lose weight before the wedding, so the dress fits better, but too much comes off, unexpectedly. Time runs out to get one last fitting. So, now you know.

by Anonymousreply 34November 21, 2022 6:35 AM

Her wedding and she doesn't eat, shit, or sleep on your fat, droopy face, OP. Not sure why you have to be so bitter and resentful about the veil. Some untreated childhood trauma resurfacing after life full of didappointment and failures?

by Anonymousreply 35November 21, 2022 6:40 AM

At least it's not another strapless with flabby arms

by Anonymousreply 36November 21, 2022 6:41 AM

She looks like Kamala Harris' step-daughter, the "model".

by Anonymousreply 37November 21, 2022 4:43 PM

R30: Beautiful is not a word I would use to describe her.

by Anonymousreply 38November 21, 2022 4:52 PM

Oh honey. Projection much?

by Anonymousreply 39November 21, 2022 4:55 PM

I love the dress and I don’t care if her veil goes all the way to Mexico. I am always happy to see a wedding dress that’s not sleeveless or mermaid cut.

by Anonymousreply 40November 21, 2022 5:03 PM

R39 - no, it's an analysis. It must have hit you too close to home.

by Anonymousreply 41November 21, 2022 5:18 PM

So glad the trend of sleeveless wedding dresses are OUT. Even among the whorish types.
