I'm a former academic and oh boy, did that profession attract the narcissists. JAYSUS. In retrospect, I was fucking surrounded by them.

To be fair, I started developing similar tendencies (and was obviously drawn to the profession myself, I'm not prize pig). The one good thing about ending up untenured, unemployed, and mentally ill was that it cut off my narcissistic supply. Then came therapy and medication and nowadays, I'm relatively normal.

They were everywhere in that world.

I had an acquaintance that was a clinical narcissist and was on disability for it. She freely admitted and carried it around like a badge of honor. Horrible horrible person and was cruel to animals. Father was a psychopath so I think she inherited it. She had psychopathic tendencies.

Why would being a narcissist render someone disabled? Your friend must have had other issues. Lots of narcissists are extremely successful. The corporate world favours narcissism.

She couldn't hold a job. She was a pathological liar and always caused trouble everywhere she went. She was always a Karen. screaming at salespeople and wait staff when she didn't get her way. Generally, if you are personality disordered, and you don't want to work, you can get on disability for it. It took her a couple of years to get it but she got it. She used to pit doctors against each other to pill shop. It got to the point that she had to leave town because doctors would not take her on as a patient and she has Munchausen. constantly faking illness for attention.

This bitch pulls a narcissist move and puts the blame elsewhere for her being a narc.
