Adele has multiple breakdowns as she begins her Vegas residency
by Anonymous | reply 252 | December 21, 2022 5:40 PM |
Maybe she needs a milkshake and cheeseburger to fortify her resolve?
by Anonymous | reply 1 | November 19, 2022 2:19 PM |
Yet other news sources are praising her performance. That article doesn’t give any specifics besides her saying she was nervous.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | November 19, 2022 2:20 PM |
R2 them ignoring her breakdowns doesn’t mean they didn’t happen. The media shows you what they want you to see. TMZ is keeping it real at least.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | November 19, 2022 2:23 PM |
She's been taking prescribed speed to lose her weight and she's been a fucking mess ever since. She won't get stable until she's fat Adele again.

Listening to her music and hearing about her breakdowns is exhausting.

It was easier for her fan base (with an average BMI of 38) to relate to Fat Adele. You could almost hear the fat cells multiply in her torch song squeals.

I thought her remarks to the audience showed a refreshing candor. If anyone's a mess here it's OP, not to mention the feral pigs who run and work for TMZ.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | November 19, 2022 3:08 PM |
In her defense, some of the greatest female singers of all time were in torment offstage -- Dusty, Etta, Aretha, Karen, Whitney, Judy, Phyllis, etc. Maybe she's bipolar or has BPD or dealing with childhood trauma...in which case I hope she gets the help she needs. And some Shakeshack.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | November 19, 2022 3:11 PM |
Her last album was awful and a complete mess. Not one song was worth a shit. I made the mistake of preordering the album thinking it would have been like her previous ones. I’ll never make that mistake again.

Good voice, but I really don't think she has the star power to sustain a long career. She should enjoy the spotlight and the huge paychecks she's getting now, but her talent isn't really that remarkable.

I think she has a breakdown because she has a residency just about 10 years after she became famous. Isn't a residency for old singers like Dolly and Celine? I would cry too honestly...

It’s not like she has to perform the lead in a four hour opera.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | November 19, 2022 3:28 PM |
R31 no. That was the case in the past. Britney’s residency made it cool for younger artists and legends to have one. GaGa, Katy, Miranda Lambert, Jonas Bros, Usher, Backstreet Boys, Carrie Underwood, Mariah, J Lo, and more have all had Vegas residencies post Britney.

by Anonymous | reply 42 | November 19, 2022 4:13 PM |
Her voice is shot and I doubt she'll be able to finish the residency without more vocal issues, which have plagued her twice before. It's weird because she only has a 2 octave range on a good day, yet she keeps damaging her voice. Usually altos have a long lifespan since they don't have to sing high notes. She seems like the kind of arrogant star who refuses to listen to vocal coaches. She sounded like a raspy cow during her recent London shows.

It's starting to feel like this Nervous Nelly persona is part of the act now. Maybe she should stop touring and only release studio albums from here on out. I'm hoping this is the end of the singer songwriter that has been forced on us by the music companies. They didn't want to develop talent and spend any effort so they let the songwriters be the talent. Find some entertainers that can really sing and get them great material so we can have more than Swift, Beyonce and the other "young" has beens.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | November 19, 2022 6:52 PM |
I miss the 70s when female songwriters could actually write beautiful songs and have the voice to sing them (Carly Simon, Donna Summer, Carole King, Dolly Parton). And of course, those who didn't write their own songs knew enough to sing the songs of talented writers (Streisand singing the Bergmans, Ross singing Masser).

A Las Vegas residency has to be one of the easiest jobs in the world for these stars like her. It's the exact same show every night, the same stage, the same location. And it's less than an hour to fly to LA when she wants to go home. She needs to grow the fuck up.

An early death canonized Winehouse. If she were alive today I am sure that "Back To Black" would have been her career peak. Winehouse didnt have a great voice but she had decent vocal technique, was a good lyricist and had an ear for a catchy melody. She also had great collaborators. But she would have flamed out long ago.

Adele went to great lengths to portray herself as a working-class heroine early on, but she's actually from a verging-on-posh background. R43 and R58
You nailed it. I was once a huge fan (I am a frau now, but I wasn’t quite a frau in 2007.) I was a fan from very early on, I read all the British music magazines and Adele, Robyn, Duffy & Amy Winehouse were all being feted. I couldn’t wait for them to come to the US, I wanted to see all of them live. Sadly, I never saw any of them.
anyway, I’m done with her. I’ll listen to one of her good songs if it comes on the radio, and I’ll still sing at the top of my lungs along to it.. But I am no longer a fan. She could have been such a fun act, the kind of show that I could go to with a group of pals to celebrate a birthday or Christmas or whatnot. And we could have done a trip to Vegas in 5 or 10 years for a reunion type deal, if she didn’t blow out her voice so early on. Like others said, she could have had a great career doing residencies like this. But she has ruined her voice, or she is just going to have to beca studio artist and she needs to stop touring. It’s wrong for her to sing that poorly after cancelling and charge the exorbitant prices she charges for tickets. Just give it up, you hate it anyway.
by Anonymous | reply 110 | November 20, 2022 4:11 AM |
I know fat Adele was more unique and it’s true the fraus liked her better. I even remember some straight guys who were in my circle saying “wow I don’t like bigger chicks but Adele is hot” which has never made sense to me at any point. Adele has never been sexy to me.

by Anonymous | reply 120 | November 20, 2022 9:23 AM |
She’s not doing coke R5, she wouldn’t be able to sing, and she already has a very unstable and unpredictable technique. Coke would make that a thousand times worse, quite literally impeding her vocal cords from functioning. It is an anesthetic. She is however definitely on a pill form of speed like Vyvanse to keep the weight off. It’s clearly contributing to her anxiety and paranoia. She cries at the drop of a hat because she can’t self regulate her emotions as her brain is dramatically flooded with waves of serotonin and dopamine followed by a severe drop off. She has all the hallmarks of a pill popper. The moment she stops the Vyvanse or Adderall, she’ll go into a severe depression (also something she already struggles with) and the weight will come roaring back. We won’t see her for years after that happens.

I know everyone here is saying a Vegas residency is easy but I would become suicidal living in a hot cultural wasteland like Las Vegas. Adele however, is definitely on some kind of drug and is most likely the reason she's so loopy.
by Anonymous | reply 125 | November 20, 2022 7:04 PM |
I know living in Vegas would be hard for someone who grew up in the uk but you’d think she could look at it as a contract that will end and just focus on the future. She’s not a slave. She’ll make a lot of money and in her off time she can do what she wants to relax. She’d never have to go outside even.
by Anonymous | reply 126 | November 20, 2022 7:15 PM |
She's not really "living in Las Vegas." She's, basically, on a concert tour without having to go anywhere. She stays in a luxurious hotel suite, maybe an entire floor. No need to constantly pack, ride a bus, check into a new hotel, etc.

This thread fucking reeks of misogyny. In the video at OP's link, her voice quivers a bit and she wipes away a tear or two. That is not even remotely close to anything like a breakdown. You're just making shit out of her for showing an ounce of emotion. Typical. On Datalounge, women showing any vulnerability or feelings = she's batshit crazy, should not be performing, is a fraud etc etc. Kind of like when there's a clip of an interview exchange like on CNN & MSNBC and a woman rolls her eyes, raises her voice a tenth of a decibel or is assertive in any way, it's "WOMAN has MELTDOWN!"

Adele is rich and living in a luxurious hotel. She can take a private jet to LA anytime she wants.
What I don’t like is how these rich foreigners just buy American properties. Are they even legal citizens? They should be treated the same as everyone else. Keanu Reeves refuses to become an American Citizen yet he’s here more than Canada. No.

Adele is perhaps the most overrated singer in history. Plenty of other singers have been overrated but none with as much acclaim and success as Adele. Many people who know nothing about singing think she's "1 of the best to ever do it" and that could not be further from the truth. Even at her best, her limited 2 octave range was pretty good but hardly impressive in comparison to the best singers of all time. Now that she's no longer at her best she seems even more mediocre. I hope this leads to a decline in popularity but I doubt it. Super stans these days seem to lap up any spoiled milk their idols spill on the ground for them.
by Anonymous | reply 138 | November 20, 2022 10:53 PM |
This is just all grist for the mill of song writing for her. I think she’ll ditch the numbers album titles and going with “Breakdown” for the next one.

Oh shut the fuck up r138. Being a technically good singer has little to do with being a GOOD singer. Such a tired argument. Who cares is she doesn't have a four-octave range? It's all about the sound, not being technically perfect all the time. Nobody wants to hear Maria Callas every fucking time they listen to music.
Jesus Christ just shut the fuck up.

R140 hi delusional super stan. Her limited range is just part of her mediocrity. She is decent in her 2 octaves but definitely not nearly THE BEST. The best female singers could definitely sing her songs but she would not sound nearly as good covering their songs. Face it, she was never that amazing but stood out among so many autotune acts and other non-singers. She would never have been able to hang with the best vocalists of the 60s, 70s, 80s or 90s.

Best vocalist and star are two very different concepts.
Miss Diana Ross was absolutely perfect at her actual job: Star!
by Anonymous | reply 146 | November 20, 2022 11:04 PM |
R146 Diana Ross was never praised as being the best singer. Ross knows her voice and limitations. She also maintained herself over the years.
Adele is an entirely different case. For almost 15 years now there are clueless idiots who have called her the best singer. She has gotten praise for her vocals which have always been overrated. The mask is finally off and her voice is shot to hell
by Anonymous | reply 147 | November 20, 2022 11:07 PM |
I’ve always found people who think having a wide range of notes you can hit as “good singing”, or the only form of singing anyone should appreciate, as stupid.

r145 I am actually not a big fan of Adele. It's just beyond tiresome to hear the same bullshit about a pop singer not being a fabulous technical genius of a vocalist. Most aren't. It doesn't matter. It's all about the sound of the voice, the emotional connection etc. Being technically brilliant actually has little to do with putting a song over.

[quote]She would never have been able to hang with the best vocalists of the 60s, 70s, 80s or 90s.
I agree that Adele would've had much more competition in previous decades when there was certainly a much higher level of talent, but she also would've been able to carve out her own niche. Carly Simon and Carole King didn't have brilliant technical voices either, just to give a couple of examples. Diana Ross had a thin voice, but it was very pleasant to listen to and very commercial.
by Anonymous | reply 151 | November 20, 2022 11:12 PM |
Really, r151, there was a higher level of talent? Why? Why when a ton of people want to be famous singers now, and it's a whole damn thing pushed from a very young age? Why would there be more talent in the 60s and 70s?
I am truly intrigued by all this. I think it is that weird and indefinable thing, star quality. Diana Ross may have had a pleasant voice but that wasn't what made her Miss Ross! I mean, I think we as a society go way, way, way overboard about the importance of singing itself, but that would seem to make it more likely that there would be more fierce competition and more talent these days.

she doesn't have Madonna's theatrics and circus tricks to fall back on. Adele's supposed amazing talent was always her selling point.

Good lord, you're really splitting hairs, just admit you don't know fuck-all about this subject. Overall, there was MUCH more talent back then. She could just go the CELINE route and pre-record new "live" vocals that they pipe in and she mimes along to. Celine has saved her instrument because she's had all her mega notes in her power ballads on tape, played back for the last 25 years. This is an open secret in Vegas.
You can go on YouTube and see the compilations that confirm it's the same vocal track being used in 2007, 2012, 2017...etc. She's an incredible performer though and makes you believe she's hitting those studio money notes live in the moment. And the crowd buys it! Which at the end of the day, is all that matters.
I don't criticize this move at all -- in OPERA singers, who have the BEST vocal technique of any professional can only do 3-4 performances a week -- how in the hell can an Adele or Celine or anyone be expected to hit those studio money notes 7 times a week? It's unrealistic and cause for quick burnout, good technique or not.

I think Adele's popularity was more in the songwriting - her ballads had hooks that were as catchy as most up-tempo pop. I'd hear the song once and be able to sing along to it. It felt almost as if the songs were covers of existing songs that I knew.
Listening to some of her new album, none of the songs are like that. "I Drink Wine" is horrible dreck and it's the first single?

Adele was the last dying gasp of a music sales superstar because she appealed to all ages in the way the R&B sexpot Rihanna and the childish Taylor Swift can’t quite.
The buying-albums-on-iTunes era is dead, and she’ll never make those kind of sales again. So to make money she needs to tour. And it has become abundantly clear that Adele has neither the voice, the work ethic nor personality to do the hard work of performing.

She puts out an album,, tours, and tours, and tours. She's also retained her voice, by relying on back tracks. You never hear Beyonce complain about touring, she just gets on with it.

Adele is a raging alcoholic. She told Vogue that she can easily drink five bottles of wine a night and not feel drunk. She also smokes 40 a day.

Adele needs an intervention, but what can we do? Her management won't listen to us since they are financially bound to her. Someone has to help this woman before it's too late. Joplin went down this road, too, and despite the difference in eras and nationality, it is frightening how this is going to play out.

R233, there is a video online of her being so drunk, she forgets that she's famous and doesn't know why everyone knows she will be arriving at Heaven Nightculb. I don't find it humorous, I actually findi t bizarre. Getting that drunk is dumb.

What happens to her when they inevitably break up

Fodder for her next album?

She's overrated, over hyped, under fed, and with limited range.

But underfed.

I’m not personally invested in whether or not she drinks herself to death

This isn’t going to well! There’s a bridge out somewhere down that line! 🚂

he's putting in the work and completing the shows. She even added a raffle to pull one person, plus their guest, from the nosebleeds down to the front row. That's going from a $1k seat to a $33k seat! It's super cute because she did that on opening night because one seat has obstructed views and she kept it going.

RuPaul as Gene Rayburn: Where in England are you from Adele?
Ginger Minj as Adele: My house!

Death was a great career move for Amy Winehouse and has enshrined her in history with the likes of Joplin, Hendricks and Morrison.

Someone sent me a video of her finale from a couple of days ago. She sounds like absolute garbage, like she’s in the midst of serious vocal damage. There’s no way getting through this without heavy pre recording.

She was always the Emperor's New Clothes to me. Obviously she can sing, but I never saw as anything near what she was hyped to be.

She'll be much happier once she returns to her inborn Graf Zeppelin dimensions.
Unfortunately for listeners and media victims caught by her endless churning on screen, she'll just go back to the "You don't love me because I'm fat and pathetic, but underneath it I'm stronger than I think, maybe" axe grinder.
Because that's what she does when she's "happier."

[quote]That's going from a $1k seat to a $33k seat!
Who the FUCK is paying $33,000 for a ticket to this shitfest???
by Anonymous | reply 250 | December 20, 2022 8:15 PM |
I wouldn't pay $33,000 for a seat if it was Ryan Phillippe's at midnight on his 18th birthday.
by Anonymous | reply 251 | December 20, 2022 9:25 PM |
I'd pay $33k to pop Ryan's cherry but around his Cruel Intention days, not teenage Ryan.
