Shouldn't they be associated with being rich?
Why are Doc Martens Associated With Lesbians When They Are Expensive?

Am the owner of a pair of classic black Docs and am a lesbian, however I got them for free second-hand from my straight sister who didn't want them anymore after a few wears (ironically because she was getting too much attention from dykes when out wearing them).
Tbh they are a touch too small for me, and also they aren't even really my style (too young and studenty, too self-consciously white-girl faux-rebelcore), and I prefer a longer higher platform heel boot. But hey, they didn't cost me, they go with a lot of outfits, and they're a dumb reach when you need a casual butchy but funky shoe that draws sapphic eyes.
Can confirm that atm I am too cheap/broke to pay RRP for new ones I like better in my size, and besides it's against my ethics to buy new when I don't need to. Would sooner buy new hiking boots.

OP must be piss-poor if she thinks that Doc Martens are expensive.

Even poor and lower middle class lesbians save enough on groceries by substituting tofu for meat that they can afford the smaller luxuries in life, like proper boots for smashing the patriarchy.
And that's without getting into the generous philanthropy quietly practiced by more established power lesbians, who give back to the community every holiday season with boot drives for our needier members. OP, if you donate today, we'll triple your gift.

Is this an American thing? Where I live DocMartens aren't associated with lesbians.
