Blind Item- This permanent A list actor/director/icon is on his death bed.

Who is the actor/director we think is getting very close to death?? Mel Gibson? Clint Eastwood? Alan Alda?

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 262August 10, 2023 7:49 PM

Warren Beatty?

by Anonymousreply 1November 15, 2022 7:48 PM

Jack Nicholson

by Anonymousreply 2November 15, 2022 7:49 PM

Clint Eastwood

by Anonymousreply 3November 15, 2022 7:49 PM

I'll vote for Clint Eastwood. Call it wishful thinking.

by Anonymousreply 4November 15, 2022 7:50 PM

I didn’t realize Clint Eastwood was 92. I thought he was around 87/88. Has to be Clint.

by Anonymousreply 5November 15, 2022 7:51 PM

Did Bruce Willis direct anything? His current health issues sounds worse than are made out to be.

by Anonymousreply 6November 15, 2022 7:51 PM

I'd say Clint.

by Anonymousreply 7November 15, 2022 7:55 PM

Bruce Willis is practically a vegetable at this point. Very sad.

Alan Alda has Parkinson’s

by Anonymousreply 8November 15, 2022 7:56 PM

Woody Allen, one would hope

by Anonymousreply 9November 15, 2022 7:56 PM

I agree with Eastwood, but Nicholson is looking like a heart attack waiting to happen.

by Anonymousreply 10November 15, 2022 7:57 PM

Dick Van Dyke? I checked his IMDB and directed a TV movie in 1973.

Robert Duvall has also directed.

It's probably someone obvious like Nicholson or Eastwood but I'm not a fan of either, someone like Dick Van Dyke, Robert Duvall or Gene Hackman would hurt.

by Anonymousreply 11November 15, 2022 8:11 PM

R11, Dick Van Dyke is not a permanent A-lister though. Nor is he widely known for his directing ventures.

by Anonymousreply 12November 15, 2022 8:15 PM

My first thought was Mel Brooks but he’s probably only A-list in my heart and soul.

by Anonymousreply 13November 15, 2022 8:16 PM

I always forget that Dick Van Dyke is still alive r11

by Anonymousreply 14November 15, 2022 8:17 PM

Alan Alda has Parkinson's? Awful. I really had no idea. I loved his autobiography. Oh and fuck CDAN

by Anonymousreply 15November 15, 2022 8:19 PM

I think it's Mel Brooks. He's definitely permanent A list.

by Anonymousreply 16November 15, 2022 8:20 PM

R12, I guessed Dick Van Dyke because of the source of the blind, with CDAN this could mean the person is an A list actor with limited directing experience or an A list director with limited acting experience. This is what the blind item says:
This permanent A list actor/director/icon is on his death bed.

by Anonymousreply 17November 15, 2022 8:22 PM

Mel Brooks would also be a tough one to take, I hope it's not him.

by Anonymousreply 18November 15, 2022 8:23 PM

Depp

by Anonymousreply 19November 15, 2022 8:24 PM

Redford?

by Anonymousreply 20November 15, 2022 8:26 PM

My money is on Clint Eastwood

by Anonymousreply 21November 15, 2022 8:26 PM

All of them.

by Anonymousreply 22November 15, 2022 8:27 PM

r22 = Putin

by Anonymousreply 23November 15, 2022 8:28 PM

DLers struggling to understand the meaning of 'icon' and 'permanent A List'.

In no universe is Alan Alda either of those-at least not since 1983. That's nearly 40 years ago you fools.

by Anonymousreply 24November 15, 2022 8:29 PM

I forgot that Nicholson directed a Chinatown sequel

by Anonymousreply 25November 15, 2022 8:33 PM

Ummm.....what about me?!!

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 26November 15, 2022 8:36 PM

Because I wasn’t in it!

by Anonymousreply 27November 15, 2022 8:36 PM

Reading about Roberta Flack's sad plight this morning, Clint Eastwood comes to mind, he having beautifully cast "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" into his film "Play Misty For Me."

I hope whomever it is (with a small basketful of exceptions) makes a peaceful transition

by Anonymousreply 28November 15, 2022 8:36 PM

Clint is a GOD.

by Anonymousreply 29November 15, 2022 8:39 PM

Nicholson has supposedly been circling the drain for a while.

by Anonymousreply 30November 15, 2022 8:42 PM

It's hard for me to think of Dick van Dyke as an "icon"

by Anonymousreply 31November 15, 2022 8:43 PM
Clint Eastwood comes to mind, he having beautifully cast "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" into his film "Play Misty For Me."

Songs are not actors and are not "cast" in movies, Nor are they casted.

by Anonymousreply 32November 15, 2022 8:44 PM

DVD is very much an icon.

by Anonymousreply 33November 15, 2022 8:44 PM

Only a handful of DLers R31. The type who haven't been to the cinema since the 1950s and avoid any tv channels that aren't broadcasting back to back repeats of I Dream of Jeannie.

by Anonymousreply 34November 15, 2022 8:45 PM

Jack Nicholson. Horrible man.

by Anonymousreply 35November 15, 2022 8:45 PM
DVD is very much an icon.

Especially in an era in which the word "icon" is tossed around pretty casually.

^^^ I think Dick van Dyke is fine, this was just two weeks ago.

by Anonymousreply 38November 15, 2022 8:48 PM

There’s nothing sadder than people guessing a purposefully vague CDAN blind item

by Anonymousreply 39November 15, 2022 8:48 PM

If it's Beatty that might be merciful & make this sad scandal go away

by Anonymousreply 40November 15, 2022 8:49 PM

There is something sadder R39, those guessers considering Dick Van D or Alan Alda as A List icons.

by Anonymousreply 41November 15, 2022 8:49 PM

Okay I'm hardly an expert. But when I think of Dick van Dyke, I think of a 1960s sitcom where he tripped over an ottoman and was in an ensemble cast of MTM, Rose Marie, Morey Amsterdam and I think Rob Reiner's father? And also the worst Cockney accent ever put on film in the stupid saccharine Mary Poppins.

Oh, and didn't he play a white-haired detective on 60's or 70's tv too? I can't remember if that's true - might have been Andy Griffith ??

by Anonymousreply 42November 15, 2022 8:49 PM

R39 yes there is. People complaining about it.

by Anonymousreply 43November 15, 2022 8:49 PM

R38, although I think you’re right, remember QEII was working 2 days before her death, at the same age as Dick Van Dyke. But I don’t think it’s him.

by Anonymousreply 44November 15, 2022 8:50 PM

Dick Van Dyke fits the literal definition of what an “icon” is.

by Anonymousreply 45November 15, 2022 8:50 PM

Ha, I was thinking of that, too, R38!

by Anonymousreply 46November 15, 2022 8:50 PM

I think it's probably Jack Nicholson, when you say ICON it's him or Redford - I doubt it's Clint, he's too ornery to pass yet.

by Anonymousreply 47November 15, 2022 8:51 PM
Okay I'm hardly an expert

As you went on to prove in your remarkably ignorant post.

by Anonymousreply 48November 15, 2022 8:51 PM

Gibson, Nicholson, Beatty, Eastwood.... are all icons.

Fuck off the DvD stans.

by Anonymousreply 49November 15, 2022 8:52 PM

Yeah, Dick Van Dyke is definitely an icon. But he wasn’t known as a director.

by Anonymousreply 50November 15, 2022 8:52 PM
Songs are not actors and are not "cast" in movies, Nor are they casted.

The song was as much a character in that film as the gorgeous scenery and players.

What's with your [unsubtle] mention of the word "casted," asshole? Something on your empty troll mind?

by Anonymousreply 51November 15, 2022 8:52 PM

I love how catty some of you bitches can be!!

by Anonymousreply 52November 15, 2022 8:54 PM

by Anonymousreply 53November 15, 2022 8:54 PM

by Anonymousreply 54November 15, 2022 8:59 PM

It has to be Eastwood.

He already died onstage 10 years ago.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 55November 15, 2022 8:59 PM

I'd class Dick Van Dyke as a permanent A-lister on the grounds that most people, regardless of age, have seen Mary Poppins and/or Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at some point.

by Anonymousreply 56November 15, 2022 9:06 PM

Icon, schmicon.

Dick Van Dyke seems like a lovely man and I hope he lives to 100 in good health.

Here he is at age 90 spontaneously entertaining a breakfast crowd at Denny's.

What did Jack Nicholson ever direct except a few B movies?

It's gotta be Clint

by Anonymousreply 61November 15, 2022 9:19 PM

Definitely Clint Eastwood. There have been numerous tribute articles about him recently, which are basically premature obituaries.

by Anonymousreply 62November 15, 2022 9:24 PM

No women? It could be Jane Fonda. If I were wagering, it would be Redford or Eastwood.

by Anonymousreply 63November 15, 2022 9:29 PM

I'll be sad if it's Trevor Donovan - I only discovered him today!

by Anonymousreply 64November 15, 2022 9:32 PM

CDAN, October 11, 2022:
This permanent A+ list mostly movie actor with multiple Oscar wins/nominations and host of many tragic nights at his home, had another stroke. He is not expected to live much longer.

The first comment says [italic]Karma for Aaron Carter and Lara Flynn Boyle[/italic], what did Nicholson do to Aaron Carter?

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 65November 15, 2022 9:40 PM

I heard Nicholson had another stroke recently.

by Anonymousreply 66November 15, 2022 9:41 PM

I was trying to be funny.

by Anonymousreply 67November 15, 2022 9:41 PM

Only on DL would Dick Van Dyke be a permanent A Lister

by Anonymousreply 68November 15, 2022 9:42 PM

I forgot about Redford. This "permanent A list actor/director/icon "could definitely be him. He is all of the above.

OK. Redford Eastwood and Warren Beatty and Mel Brooks. That's it. That's the list. Barbra Streisand is "Permanent A list Actor/ Director/Icon" too. But she tweets all the time and she's on Instagram, and so is Jane Fonda. In fact Jane's latest instagram post had her working out with her personal trainer...

by Anonymousreply 69November 15, 2022 10:02 PM

Ok guys you usually give me a heads up.

by Anonymousreply 70November 15, 2022 10:10 PM

68-Please stop showing your entertainment illiteracy. I am it a fan of Mr Van Dyke, but permanent A Lister he is, just as Bob Hope, Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire would be if by some chronological miracle, they were still alive.

But just to finesse the point home Julie Andrews is a permanent A lister and icon, whilst Joan Collins was only A List for Dynasty, never for film work and even though still alive, not A list now, but definitely an Icon. Liza Minnelli is permanent A list and an icon, whilst Isabella Rosselini, as sensible as she is and as a child of two permanent, even in death A list icons, too... she is neither A list, permanent or otherwise, but could be regarded as an icon to many in a "non mainstream way.

A listing has nothing to with stanning or anybody's ignorance; neither has being an enduring, influential icon.

by Anonymousreply 71November 15, 2022 10:13 PM

It’s a man because CDAN said actor and HIS.

by Anonymousreply 72November 15, 2022 10:14 PM

R71 is correct. Also, some stars are eternally A-List, even in death. Elvis Presley, Marilyn, MJ, James Dean etc. are all dead but very much A-List in death even. Especially Marilyn.

by Anonymousreply 73November 15, 2022 10:15 PM

Roman Polanski?

by Anonymousreply 74November 15, 2022 10:16 PM

Someone give R71 a well-earned cookie for an absolutely correct review of entertainment/celebrity status markers.

by Anonymousreply 75November 15, 2022 10:19 PM

R57 Oh my gosh, his energy! I can’t believe he’s 90 in this video. This is exactly how I imagine Paul McCartney will be in ten years - constantly entertaining.

by Anonymousreply 76November 15, 2022 10:24 PM

Eastwood.

Nicholson directed but no one would cite that.

Brooks acted but that wouldn't be cited first.

If it's not a typical bs blind.

by Anonymousreply 77November 15, 2022 10:24 PM

I’m relieved Harry Belafonte has no director credit.

by Anonymousreply 78November 15, 2022 10:29 PM

It's someone we don't realize. And the item doesn't give a clue about age so I'm going on a limb and guessing Ben Affleck.

by Anonymousreply 79November 15, 2022 10:30 PM

It's not Warren Beatty - we had a thread about him just a week or so ago and he looked fine.

by Anonymousreply 80November 15, 2022 10:30 PM

Affleck is not iconic.

by Anonymousreply 81November 15, 2022 10:31 PM

Whose death bed is he one?

by Anonymousreply 82November 15, 2022 10:31 PM

R80 that was before the recent allegation.

by Anonymousreply 83November 15, 2022 10:32 PM

Angelus Landsberry

by Anonymousreply 84November 15, 2022 10:33 PM

Waiting to drag what's left of your soul the first mile down towards hell, darling.

That's as far as I'm allowed to go. And the heat and stink are rather oppressive even that high above the Inferno.

I think my new nickname for you will be "Cinders."

by Anonymousreply 85November 15, 2022 10:37 PM

Heathen. Her riveting performances in The Stud and The Bitch and that Giant Ant movie were a tour de force. Such strength, so brave, deep and enduring. Oscar!

by Anonymousreply 89November 15, 2022 10:46 PM
This permanent A list actor/director/icon is on his death bed.

Thank GOD it says "on HIS death bed", because if it were Barbra, I just don't think I'd be able to cope with everything else that's going on.

by Anonymousreply 90November 15, 2022 10:46 PM

Were they ever on the legitimate theater?

by Anonymousreply 91November 15, 2022 10:48 PM

I have a horrible feeling that it’s somebody who is six degrees of separation from Kevin bacon. I hope I’m wrong…

by Anonymousreply 92November 15, 2022 10:49 PM

There was a discussion here a short time ago on purposely vague CDAN blind items. There’s a whole group of iconic perma A list 70s actors 85+, there’s (unfortunately) statistically a good chance one of them will drop soon. And then this “blind” will be proven right when in reality it’s bullshit.

If they want to be legit, add at least a couple more specifics so the actor is easily identifiable.

by Anonymousreply 93November 15, 2022 10:50 PM

Mel Gibson is churning out multiple b-movies a year, so it's not him.

by Anonymousreply 94November 15, 2022 10:51 PM

I’d guess Nicholson, even with limited directing. There was an article about him not that long ago and how he pretty much no longer goes out in public because of health issues.

by Anonymousreply 95November 15, 2022 10:53 PM

Was excellent in his Columbo and memorable in The Comic.

by Anonymousreply 96November 15, 2022 10:54 PM

Jack Nicholson

by Anonymousreply 97November 15, 2022 10:55 PM

People keep dying. This is intolerable. When will it end…

by Anonymousreply 98November 15, 2022 10:56 PM

Yeah, Mel Gibson was just pictured out and about with his young girlfriend, so it's definitely not him.

by Anonymousreply 99November 15, 2022 11:16 PM

Tyler Perry ?

by Anonymousreply 103November 15, 2022 11:34 PM

R8, where are you getting that info. Me thinks it's Jack Nicholson.

by Anonymousreply 104November 15, 2022 11:37 PM

Of all the old-timers most frequently mentioned in this thread, Clint Eastwood is the only one known almost as much for his directing as for his acting. Nobody thinks of Jack Nicholson as an actor-director.

by Anonymousreply 105November 15, 2022 11:41 PM

Ben Affleck

La puta has been poisoning him.

by Anonymousreply 106November 15, 2022 11:42 PM

I really don’t understand how liberal gays can support a site that promotes QAnon. CDAN weaponizes homosexuality and accuses Hollywood liberals of being groomers. This isn’t a harmless site and you’re driving revenue to it…here…on a gay site. Seems we have a lot of self loathing gays here.

by Anonymousreply 107November 15, 2022 11:43 PM

R107 Looks like there's some self righteous holier than thou gays too. This is a gossip site, what did you expect?

by Anonymousreply 108November 15, 2022 11:49 PM

A little more self respect. But, yeah, self loathing cause…FAKE GOSSIP.

by Anonymousreply 110November 15, 2022 11:54 PM
I think it's supposed to be Robert Redford, but I hope it's not true.

Redford is 86 and has looked like fucking HELL the last times he's appeared in public. He's lost a ton of weight and could be circling the drain. Good that he's married to the ugly German wife who will inherit his many wigs.

by Anonymousreply 112November 15, 2022 11:56 PM

"that most people, regardless of age, have seen Mary Poppins and/or Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at some point."

Yes, when there is literally nothing left to watch.

by Anonymousreply 113November 16, 2022 7:41 PM

MOSTLY movie actor makes me think it’s Clint. He got his start in television playing Rowdy Yates on Rawhide.

by Anonymousreply 114November 16, 2022 8:45 PM

An iconic actor is one whose personality is larger-than-life. He always plays himself in films. Comics regular do impressions these guys. Clint Eastwood, Jack Nicholson, and Woody Allen are iconic. Warren Beatty, Robert Redford, and Dick Van Dyke are not, but some of their characters are. Clint and Woody are both acclaimed directors as well, so it’s likely one of those two.

by Anonymousreply 115November 16, 2022 8:53 PM

Didn't Robert Redford direct Ordinary People?

I hope it's not him.

by Anonymousreply 116November 16, 2022 8:58 PM

Chi Chi Larue, perpetuall A-list and iconic director/actor.

by Anonymousreply 117November 16, 2022 8:58 PM

R114 The blind doesn't say "mostly."

by Anonymousreply 118November 16, 2022 9:06 PM

by Anonymousreply 119November 16, 2022 9:09 PM

I first thought of Robert Redford.

by Anonymousreply 120November 16, 2022 9:11 PM

Another vote for Eastwood. He's totally iconic and reportedly was suffering from Alzheimers, and did the actor/ director thing big-time.

by Anonymousreply 121November 16, 2022 9:15 PM

r118 please reread r65’s post. Blind Item #9 on crazydayandnights.net says This A+list MOSTLY movie actor…. Clint had bit parts in two B movies before being cast as Rowdy Yates in Rawhide. The wildly popular 50’s TV show that aired for 8 years and made him a household name. It’s Clint.

by Anonymousreply 122November 16, 2022 9:23 PM

It could be Whoopi Goldberg. She's sick this week with COVID, and they're not giving updates on how she's doing - they're keeping it rather quiet.

And we don't know for sure what pronouns they are using this week - they could very well be identifying as he / his / him.

by Anonymousreply 123November 16, 2022 9:27 PM

It's Nicholson. He's been right on the edge for a couple of years now.

Rest in Peace, McMurphy.

by Anonymousreply 124November 16, 2022 9:28 PM

R122 There's no indication these blinds are about the same person, so I'll stand by my original statement that the blind item that's the subject of OP's post does not mention the word "mostly."

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 125November 16, 2022 9:53 PM

R123 It's not Whoopi. She's not known as a director.

I'm still going with either Mel Brooks or Clint Eastwood.

by Anonymousreply 126November 16, 2022 9:54 PM

When Eastwood dies, will Angela Davis comment?

by Anonymousreply 127November 16, 2022 9:58 PM
Didn't Robert Redford direct Ordinary People?

Plus A River Runs Through It, Quiz Show, and several others not as acclaimed as those three but usually with big stars (The Horse Whisperer, The Legend of Bagger Vance, Lions for Lambs...).

However, I think Clint is the best guess, with Warren the runner-up. Assuming there's anything to this at all.

by Anonymousreply 128November 16, 2022 10:04 PM

More interesting than the blind is the fact that "Enty Lawyer", the person who posts the blinds on CDAN, is being sued for defamation.

Even more interesting is that the woman who filed the suit has retained the same lawyer who's going after Fox News regarding the false claims of vote manipulation.
Diana Jenkins’ has hired attorney, J. Erik Connolly, to handle her case. He is a partner with Chicago law firm Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan & Aronoff LLP, a high-profile defamation lawyer who represented a beef producer in the $6 billion “pink slime” defamation case against ABC News. He is currently representing a voting technology company in multi-billion-dollar defamation lawsuits against Fox News and others over their reporting of the 2020 presidential election.

That's one expensive attorney for a reality show personality to hire. It has me wondering if she's got a financial backer with their own grudge against the site, kind of like the Hulk Hogan vs Gawker suit that was financed by Peter Thiel.
It's not Whoopi. She's not known as a director.

"She would be if more black women in Hollywood were given the chance to direct in the 20th century. So we could give her an honorary director title for this Blind Item. " - Sarah Haines, and Sunny Hostin (professional Whoopi ass-kissers).

by Anonymousreply 130November 16, 2022 10:27 PM

It's not Redford. I've seen him recently and he's not what you'd call "looking great" but he's not fucking dying.

by Anonymousreply 131November 16, 2022 10:29 PM

Another thing to consider: Beatty, Redford, and Allen have recently attended or will be attending upcoming events, but Nicholson and Eastwood have been out of the public eye for some time.

by Anonymousreply 132November 16, 2022 10:44 PM

It's got to be Clint. People that die have a look about them and he had it in the last time he was papped.

by Anonymousreply 133November 17, 2022 12:05 AM
Assuming there's anything to this at all.

That's assuming a lot, given that CDAN is mostly made-up shit.

by Anonymousreply 134November 17, 2022 12:56 AM

Mike Douglas - he’s been dying since his first appearance on Oprah.

by Anonymousreply 135November 17, 2022 1:13 AM

Nobody guessed it would be Robert Clary.

by Anonymousreply 136November 17, 2022 1:14 AM

My two top guesses are Clint Eastwood or Warren Beatty.

by Anonymousreply 137November 17, 2022 1:17 AM

Just glad CDAN cleaned up his site design. I mean stripped it to the essentials.

Robert Duval is doing ok. He’s still out and about near his home in Virginia!

Head tells me Eastwood, heart tells me Bruce Willis.

by Anonymousreply 139November 17, 2022 1:29 AM

Erich von Stroheim

by Anonymousreply 140November 17, 2022 4:02 AM

Good call, r139. Willis fits the MOSTLY movie actor description. How could I forget Moonlighting? End stage Alzheimers doesn’t just affect memory or the ability to speak. It impacts the ability to eat and severely limits mobility. Eastwood’s passing would be sad because he IS an icon but Bruce passing would hit on an emotional level.

by Anonymousreply 141November 17, 2022 7:39 AM

R71, "Liza Minnelli is permanent A list and an icon..."

That was HILARIOUS.

by Anonymousreply 142November 17, 2022 7:48 AM

It can't be Stallone. He was A-list for 20 years, but is closer to a 'C' now.

And then there's that RUG...

R131, anyone 86 years old is prone to death soon. Even the insider admin of his main Facebook group has posted that he's winding down.

I didn't know so many here "love" Redford. Usually he's a joke at the DL, based on everything he's done for the last 36 years.

by Anonymousreply 144November 17, 2022 11:59 AM

Clooney has looked like shit for several years now. He's either ill or lying about his age because he looks older than 61. Or he's a massive functioning drunk and the ravages of alcoholism have caught up with him.

by Anonymousreply 145November 17, 2022 12:10 PM

My vote goes to Willis, too.

by Anonymousreply 146November 17, 2022 1:40 PM

I'm the argument over money wasted on fresh cranberries, when the canned and long-expired kind found in the garbage room of the apartment complex would've been sufficient.

by Anonymousreply 147November 17, 2022 1:57 PM

R146 Bruce Willis isn't known as a director.

by Anonymousreply 148November 17, 2022 1:57 PM

Whoopsie--sorry. Wrong thread.
More interesting than the blind is the fact that "Enty Lawyer", the person who posts the blinds on CDAN, is being sued for defamation.
Even more interesting is that the woman who filed the suit has retained the same lawyer who's going after Fox News regarding the false claims of vote manipulation.

Good…I hope this lying sack of shit shuts down for good. I also hope it comes out that it’s run by republican propagandists. And I especially hope that Datalounge is used as evidence that this crap causes damage.

by Anonymousreply 150November 17, 2022 2:04 PM

Alan Alda posted a photo of himself with Mike Farrell just a couple of weeks ago, and he seems fine.

Mel Brooks is making appearances for his latest book and also seems fine. He just got nominated for a Grammy!

by Anonymousreply 151November 17, 2022 2:05 PM

Only Clint Eastwood and Robert Redford are known as actors and directors who are iconic.

by Anonymousreply 152November 17, 2022 2:06 PM

Best I can tell, Woody Allen is still working on his latest film, no reported absences.

Redford is currently working on a multimedia project called "The Way of the Rain."

I can't find anything about Eastwood working on anything or giving an interview for a very long time.

by Anonymousreply 153November 17, 2022 2:10 PM

Well, Al Pacino has directed but he isn't known for it. I think Looking for Richard and one or two other projects. I know that one day guys like Redford and Pacino and Nicholson will die. Gene Hackman, Dustin Hoffman. but I will f eel very bad when it comes.

by Anonymousreply 154November 17, 2022 2:11 PM

World of Reel, a film blog, claims it’s not Eastwood.

by Anonymousreply 155November 17, 2022 3:04 PM

R155, well of course they'd say that. Has Liam Neeson ever directed? He has been looking kind of worn and gaunt and lost a lot of weight in the past two or three or five years. And do we know if it's an American? Because if they are truly iconic, they may be from another country. Remember Chadwick Boseman lost so much weight.

by Anonymousreply 156November 17, 2022 3:07 PM

I still think it's Nicholson or Redford.

by Anonymousreply 157November 17, 2022 3:10 PM

by Anonymousreply 160November 17, 2022 3:47 PM

Not forever. Everything turns to dust.

by Anonymousreply 161November 17, 2022 3:58 PM

Clint Eastwood worked out at my gym several years ago when he was making a movie in the city. He's extremely thin, like almost anorexic for a male. It was hard to imagine him as a macho action star when you see him in person. My gay self could have easily kicked his ass. He asked me to spot him on the bench press.

Same thing with Dennis Quaid when he was in town making a movie. He was super skinny. I guess the old adage about the camera adding 10 pounds is accurate, and they all have to stay rail thin not to look fat onscreen.

by Anonymousreply 162November 17, 2022 4:13 PM

Brain tumors can come on fast. Could be anyone.

by Anonymousreply 163November 17, 2022 4:29 PM

I say Eastwood.

Alda isn’t A list, and Mel Gibson is one of those assholes who will live too long.

by Anonymousreply 164November 17, 2022 4:33 PM

R156 This blind specifically says "director," and doesn't mention acting, so if we're talking about iconic directors who aren't Clint Eastwood, my money's on Mel Brooks.

by Anonymousreply 165November 17, 2022 7:07 PM
Clint Eastwood worked out at my gym several years ago.... He's extremely thin, like almost anorexic

So is Redford. When old people stop dropping weight it's usually bad news. And Redford holds on to his wife when standing or walking, like he can't support himself.

by Anonymousreply 172November 17, 2022 9:44 PM

I can't believe that some nothing CDAN item has gotten more than 170 posts and is still going strong. Most CDAN items are rightfully ignored, including the many that imply that some celeb or other was involved in a murder or child trafficking.

by Anonymousreply 173November 17, 2022 10:34 PM

by Anonymousreply 176November 17, 2022 10:44 PM

Well, R173 and R174, this admittedly dull bond-and-dumb item stimulated so many posts because the DL loves to talk about impending doom and how it's deserved for so many people.

And now you're added to the long, long list, cunts!

by Anonymousreply 177November 17, 2022 10:48 PM

Jeff Bridges is definitely struggling. BUt I don't know if he ever directed. I want to say yes, because all actors try it at some point.

Alda is a TV actor, yeah he did some film but like Michael Fox, both will be TV actors. And TV actors aren't A-list.

This is certainly a famous director and then actor.

by Anonymousreply 180November 17, 2022 10:50 PM

Mostly actor, the blind says.

by Anonymousreply 181November 17, 2022 11:32 PM

Dick Van Dyke is a permanent A-lister to me.

by Anonymousreply 182November 17, 2022 11:37 PM

WTF?! Alan Alda is a well-respected actor. He's had character parts in films forever (until he got sick), he's had parts in Woody Allen films and he was even in Ray Donovan.

by Anonymousreply 183November 17, 2022 11:42 PM

Redford had small parts in TV shows like the original Twilight Zone, etc. He was a gorgeous twink.

by Anonymousreply 184November 18, 2022 12:01 AM

^ But I hope it's not him!

by Anonymousreply 185November 18, 2022 12:02 AM

R184, Redford was gorgeous, but he was never a twink. He was too mature-looking (as most actors were back then) and virile to be a twink. Also he was handsome rather than pretty and had a super-hairy chest.

Here's Redford on a Perry Mason episode in 1960.

by Anonymousreply 220November 30, 2022 1:00 AM

Oh, I think most of us would like to say goodbye to Clint. But I'm afraid Robert Redford, or Jeff Bridges or someone like that will go before Clint goes.

R221 I’m afraid it’s Jeff Bridges too. Clint like I could gaf.

Are you CERTAIN his impending and imminent demise has been properly prognosticated?

I mean. Fuck.

by Anonymousreply 224November 30, 2022 2:09 AM

It was Irene Cara !

by Anonymousreply 225November 30, 2022 2:54 AM

Jeff Bridges?

Jeff recently did a TV ad about the past few years being hard for most of us. He mentioned beating cancer and having Covid. He looked fine.

by Anonymousreply 226November 30, 2022 3:31 AM

Jeff Bridges is one of the best character actors of his generation, but unless they're using the term very loosely, he's no icon.
Clint Eastwood, Jack Nicholson, and Woody Allen are iconic. Warren Beatty, Robert Redford, and Dick Van Dyke are not, but some of their characters are. Clint and Woody are both acclaimed directors as well, so it’s likely one of those two.

On what planet is Woody Allen an icon and Robert Redford isn't?! Robert Redford was one of the biggest movie stars of his time. Take Brad Pitt, George Clooney, and Matt Damon, then roll them up into a ball. Then clone that ball -- that was Robert Redford in his heyday.

by Anonymousreply 227November 30, 2022 5:25 AM

Don’t they have to croak before 12/31 to make it into the montage?

by Anonymousreply 228November 30, 2022 5:35 AM

Morgan Freeman who just appeared in the World Cup opening ceremony from Quatar R219?

Please. It is Eastwood. Probably by December 8.

by Anonymousreply 229November 30, 2022 6:18 AM

Eastwood has been pretty much A-list since the late 60s and is well known as both an actor and a director since Play Misty for Me (1971) which was his directorial debut and in 2015 his film American Sniper was a Best Picture nominee and 2 of his films were Best Picture winners

by Anonymousreply 230January 11, 2023 7:07 PM

by Anonymousreply 234January 11, 2023 10:10 PM

If this blind item isn't just bullshit, I would say Eastwood.

by Anonymousreply 240August 8, 2023 5:03 AM

I would go with Eastwood on this one too. He's an obvious choice but that doesn't make it wrong.

by Anonymousreply 241August 8, 2023 5:57 AM

It could be Woody, Clint, or Mel. They're all exceptionally old.

It is not someone like Dick van Dyke, who is not known for his directing. That's ridiculous.

by Anonymousreply 242August 8, 2023 6:13 AM

by Anonymousreply 247August 8, 2023 6:29 PM

Mel Brooks?

by Anonymousreply 248August 8, 2023 6:41 PM

Since this deathwatch may outlive us all the way things are going, I'm going to indulge in a tangent:
More interesting than the blind is the fact that "Enty Lawyer", the person who posts the blinds on CDAN, is being sued for defamation.

How the hell does that work in court against someone who publishes nameless blind items? Does the plaintiff tell the judge "He's clearly referring to me in the article titled "Strung-Out Crack Whore"—libel!"

by Anonymousreply 249August 8, 2023 7:42 PM

I’m telling you it’s William Friedkin. He has three acting credits if you want to get picky because one’s a music video, one’s voicing a character, and one cameo. CDAN always says eg, “Academy Award winner/nominee” meaning it could be either to broaden the range of possibilities. God I haven’t read that site in fifteen years except what I see posted here.

by Anonymousreply 250August 9, 2023 2:49 PM

Actor, director, screenwriter and producer Orson Welles

by Anonymousreply 251August 9, 2023 3:40 PM

I agree with r251.

by Anonymousreply 252August 9, 2023 4:52 PM

It could be Friedkin. Enty Liar makes shit up, exaggerates people's credentials, inflates one cameo and a voiceover into an acting career, etc etc. etc. The site is not to be trusted but I have the same questions as someone had earlier. How is one going to prosecute for gossip? We shall see.

I think it's Eastwood. He's 1000 years old and I can't remember the last time I saw him in public. I'd give equal chances to Nicholson who is surely not long for this world but I think I've seen him more recently. He's not looking good, admittedly, but there were some photos.

by Anonymousreply 253August 9, 2023 9:06 PM

REDFORD. He’s ready, 87 this month.

by Anonymousreply 254August 9, 2023 11:49 PM
