Tasteful Friends presenting Ivana's Townhouse!

Complete with a shot of "the" staircase. WIll people be photoshopping the bottles and the body?

by Anonymousreply 96December 17, 2022 3:08 PM

Hideous, of course, just as one would expect.

by Anonymousreply 1November 14, 2022 9:31 PM

With taste like that, we may be lucky it was Vairst Letty in the White House.

by Anonymousreply 2November 14, 2022 9:32 PM

Money does not buy good taste.

by Anonymousreply 3November 14, 2022 9:32 PM

It's GHASTLY!

by Anonymousreply 4November 14, 2022 9:46 PM

I'll give you 200 million and not a dollar more.

I personally draw the line at gilt Corinthian capitals on pink fluted columns around a bathtub.

by Anonymousreply 7November 14, 2022 10:11 PM

It's so, so much.... over the top.... Liberace himself would be horrified.

PS I do like the creepy doll staging on the couch. Someone gave her shade hahaha!

“A winding marble staircase”

Putting thin slabs of marble on a staircase does not make it a marble staircase.

by Anonymousreply 9November 14, 2022 10:19 PM

Reminds me of the late Joan Rivers' pad before she croaked. [see link]

I think it's a generational thing. To NYC women of a certain age & financial standing that look (gaudy, dark, golden, over-stuffed with antiques) is considered the epitome of luxury, class & elegance.

by Anonymousreply 10November 14, 2022 10:20 PM

Dear lord. I haven't seen THAT much leopard print since I was tricked into attending a Jackie Collins soiree!

Bookshelves nearly empty, aside from a handful of encyclopedias rather obviously never opened. That certainly fits.

The lurid red foyer and staircase remind me of something one would encounter at a bordello. Did she hire Marla to design it?

"In her book, Ms. Trump described the room as 'how Louis XVI would have lived if he had had money.'"

If you were with me at present, you would've seen my eyes do a full 720-degree double-roll at that absurdity. A better description would be "how Sammy Jo Carrington would have lived if she'd been cut off from the family fortune."

"The en-suite bathroom is a burst of Pepto Bismol-pink, from the marble floors to the double sinks to the bathtub to the cabinets and the walls. The faucets and hardware provide accents of gold." This is somehow even more hideous than it sounds in print – see photo.

This seems fairly typical of East European and Persian tastes. Gaudy.

by Anonymousreply 12November 14, 2022 10:21 PM

The last thing anyone should do is enter a real estate deal with a Trump. God knows the place is probably ready to collapse on itself. No thanks 😠

by Anonymousreply 13November 14, 2022 10:24 PM

Well, the lady wasn’t afraid to use colour.

by Anonymousreply 14November 14, 2022 10:25 PM

Didi, darling -- you're divine.

That bathroom belongs in Las Vegas.

by Anonymousreply 15November 14, 2022 10:28 PM

Who did it best? Ivana or Joan Rivers r10 ?

by Anonymousreply 16November 14, 2022 10:29 PM

When I see those types of luxury homes, I think to myself now where do they actually live? None of those rooms look like they’re fit for living and being human and making messes.

by Anonymousreply 17November 14, 2022 10:38 PM

R16 Joan's is - by far - the more beautiful place. She had better taste than Ivana did.

by Anonymousreply 18November 14, 2022 10:41 PM

She didn't die on those steps. They are plushly carpeted, not steep and the staircase is curved.

And she did not want to be buried on a golf course.

by Anonymousreply 19November 14, 2022 10:43 PM

Tacky.

by Anonymousreply 26November 14, 2022 11:12 PM

this is so disgusting

by Anonymousreply 27November 14, 2022 11:31 PM

No R10, it has nothing to do with women of her generation. Her taste is very consistent with Eastern European over the top. I can name many older women of considerable wealth who have great taste and sense of style and elegance.

by Anonymousreply 28November 14, 2022 11:40 PM

Name them, Charlie!

by Anonymousreply 29November 14, 2022 11:40 PM

Did anyone else notice the copies of the Encyclopedia Britannica on the half empty shelf? Well, give the old bag credit - she had 0 fucks to give about the fake book thing. At some point, I'd think all that tacky gold would make your head hurt & the fillings in your teeth ache.

by Anonymousreply 30November 14, 2022 11:41 PM

Ivana had no style or taste. Over the top classless trash. All looks kinda 'common'. TFG guy sure likes trashy women.

by Anonymousreply 31November 14, 2022 11:41 PM

this whole thing needs to be gutted, esp that bathroom. hideous!

by Anonymousreply 32November 14, 2022 11:44 PM

At one point, Ms. Trump converted Donald Trump Jr.’s former bedroom into a gym. From there, she could see into the house across the street, where fashion designer Donatella Versace lived, Eric Trump said. She would wave to Ms. Versace from the treadmill. “They loved each other,” he said.

by Anonymousreply 33November 14, 2022 11:47 PM

Like two Spitting Image puppets waving at each other across the street.

by Anonymousreply 34November 15, 2022 12:10 AM

by Anonymousreply 35November 15, 2022 12:10 AM

by Anonymousreply 36November 15, 2022 12:27 AM

Cripes. That's embarrassing. I wonder the last time any of her kids went to visit?

by Anonymousreply 37November 15, 2022 12:35 AM

Did that upholstery fabric come from leopards that Junior Mint and Eric bagged on one of their safaris?

by Anonymousreply 38November 15, 2022 12:43 AM

Trumps all seem to have a thing for gold everywhere. tacky tacky tacky!

by Anonymousreply 39November 15, 2022 12:48 AM

A little expensive for a whorehouse, isn't it? And don't the Johns prefer a less prominent and visible entrance?

Although the front does look like a mortuary.

by Anonymousreply 40November 15, 2022 12:48 AM

I'd love a tasteful friends thread full of apartments like this.

by Anonymousreply 41November 15, 2022 12:56 AM

She’s the only Trump I have any sliver of affection for. She seemed rather smart and self-deprecating in interviews. The kids obviously inherited none of those qualities.

Do we have intel on her final years? There were a lot of comments from a friend following her death about how a lot of people tried to reach out to her but she wasn’t receptive. And the kids’ eulogies were weird. I got the sense the kids were no longer close to her.

by Anonymousreply 42November 15, 2022 1:30 AM

The library is so completely OTT it almost works as a weird art installation.

The rest of it is just the original apartment at Trump Tower wedged into a townhouse.

by Anonymousreply 43November 15, 2022 1:40 AM

Good god, just looking at r11's photo hurts my eyes. I can't imagine seeing it in person. It all screams New Money, do you think this is what people thought what the Vanderbilts taste was like?

by Anonymousreply 44November 15, 2022 1:43 AM

R7 -yeah, but you’ve always been so picky, picky, picky….

by Anonymousreply 45November 15, 2022 1:57 AM

Decorating with slot machines can be such a challenge.

by Anonymousreply 46November 15, 2022 1:58 AM

R44, the Vanderbilts were new $$$ at one time and were scorned for their outlandish tastes. (Not defending Ivana's decorating choices; just stating a fact.)

I love OTT decor and would change nothing about Ivana's townhouse except to get rid of all the leopard print. I would also imagine the bookshelves are so empty because it was mostly family photos lining the shelves.

It's also quaint that her dog Tiger is still living their with her longtime assistant until it sells. I wonder if Tiger saw her fall down the stairs and split her head open?

by Anonymousreply 47November 15, 2022 10:35 AM

*Tiger is still living there...3:30am slip.

by Anonymousreply 48November 15, 2022 10:36 AM

Ticks all the boxes for a Trump. Trumps do not possess any class. They're too cheap to hire someone who has class to decorate

by Anonymousreply 49November 15, 2022 11:52 AM

It looks so “Polack”

by Anonymousreply 50November 15, 2022 11:55 AM

Trying to find something positive to say... At least it's consistent! Pretty ostentatious, but honestly I've seen much much worse. I'd take this over an open concept with barn doors any day. It's salvable.

by Anonymousreply 51November 15, 2022 12:27 PM

^ Yeah, well, it's that whole eastern Europe vibe going on. Joan Rivers was the same

by Anonymousreply 52November 15, 2022 12:30 PM

I love it! Really elegant and tasteful. Is there a special suite for the owner's momma?

by Anonymousreply 53November 15, 2022 12:30 PM

R52. Please! Joan Rivers was the daughter of a Jewish American doctor! This cow ankle farm animal would have been lucky to be Joan River’s maid if she hadn’t landed the mental case as a husband!

by Anonymousreply 54November 15, 2022 2:49 PM

All the bad taste money can buy.

by Anonymousreply 55November 15, 2022 3:39 PM

The leopard print clashes with the cheetah print that cashes with the cougar print.

by Anonymousreply 56November 15, 2022 4:02 PM

Why is the white piano shoved into a corner of the stairwell landing? That makes zero sense.

by Anonymousreply 57November 15, 2022 4:13 PM

It's covering the blood stains, r57.

by Anonymousreply 58November 15, 2022 4:14 PM

by Anonymousreply 59November 15, 2022 4:19 PM

"The entrance hall has blood-red carpets"

What color was it before her tumble?

by Anonymousreply 60November 15, 2022 4:23 PM

R30, the encyclopedias were the only books that didn't have liquor bottles stored in them. The rest of the books went to Junior's "collection."

I guess her three stooges were too cheap to gut it and stage it with white walls.

by Anonymousreply 66November 15, 2022 9:14 PM

The Daily Mail's headline: Ivana Trump's Upper East Side townhouse - where she was found dead at the bottom of the stairs - is put on the market for $26.5m

They really would fit in here.

by Anonymousreply 67November 15, 2022 9:30 PM

She was an unhappy person.

by Anonymousreply 68November 15, 2022 9:33 PM

Ivana was on the floor in her pajamas at the bottom of the stairs. Hysterical, the two women called Eric Trump — Ivana’s only child who still lived in the city — who rushed over from his nearby apartment and held his mother’s body until police arrived. The NYPD clocked the emergency call at 12:40 p.m. and pronounced her dead on the scene.

If he weren't a heinous Trump with a troll cunt for a wife, I'd pity him.

Joan Rivers' apartment was an authentic period space that she restored.

You may not care for it, but it was essentially a correct interpretation of the American Beaux Arts style.

It is currently having its period details removed by the Saudi Royal Family, who will create something more to their no-doubt superior taste.

Ivana, there is nothing wrong with a liquor cart in every room. And restraints for the children's bedrooms.

by Anonymousreply 75November 15, 2022 11:15 PM

Isn't there supposed to be a solid offering a visual break between prints, to prevent guests from seizuring as they look at all those different leopard spots?

It's the usual story with tasteless rich people. Everything has the superficial look, but none of the quality. They go for the hackneyed and the razzle-dazzle without knowing anything about the substance.

Overpuffed and

Overstuffed

by Anonymousreply 86December 5, 2022 2:33 AM

I can see those stairs being deadly if she tripped on that dog; she was old and fragile. The Atlantic had a good article on her death

Although, I agree about her not wanting to be buried at a golf course

I feel her kids didn’t do right by her.

by Anonymousreply 87December 5, 2022 4:14 AM

R69's link says Ivana Trump bought the house at 10 East 64th Street for $2.5 million in 1992.

How could it have been that cheap? I assume East 64th Street near Central Park is a highly desirable location. Gianni Versace's townhouse was at 5 East 64th Street. He bought it in 1995 for $7.5 million.

$2.5 million bought significantly more thirty years because of inflation, but still. I wonder what condition it was in when she bought it. I hardly think Ivana had the deep pockets to completely renovate a house that was a wreck.

The Versace townhouse is on the market with an asking price of $60 million.
