What is your favorite La Toya Jackson album?
And to the eldergays, what was her career like? She was from such a famous family but got little radio play. Where did her publicity come from? How did everyone know when she was putting out an album?

Her first album was probably a real attempt at producers and writers making her worth something. Her voice isn’t the best but the music is great.
La Toya said Michael dumbed down “Night Time Lover”.

This was her first moderate hit. It covered up her poor vocals with a funky beat.
It missed the Hot 100 and reached #101.

Fun music-terrible performer and voice

I didn’t know she had albums.

She attempted to match Janet’s work with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis with Full Force with her “La Toya” album.
This was her attempt at “Bad” meets “Control”.

This is such a cute song and I don’t get why it wasn’t a hit.

R9 And that was produced by SAW and still flopped.

The “Bad Girl” album was really fun. It’s actually start to finish fun. It’s cheesy but all the songs are good.
I think this album is when she went fully Eurotrash. She knew America wasn’t going to listen to her so she found fame appearing as “famous American Jackson” landing gigs on European TV shows.

“No Relations” is her best album. It’s Eurotrash, it’s very 90’s Playboy fun, it’s campy, and it’s a fun album.

This is my favorite song from “No Relations”. Also “Prove My Love”.

Is this all one person commenting in this thread? There's nobody on earth who would admit to listening to a LaToya Jackson album.

Other) A broken one.

Rebbie has more listeners a month on Spotify than LaToya.

All of her albums are great……she’s……..really something else.

She has that Jackson nose!

I liked when she lived in Vegas at Regency Towers and married Jack Gordon. In 1987, Jack Gordon was hired to co-manage her and she went off the fucking deep end

She was an awful artist--the worst of the Jackson family, by far

You forgot Formidable. The Moulin Rouge album. I remember people used to post about La Toya nonstop years ago on Say Hey on the OT section.
I was only on that board for a brief moment before a psychotic stalker stole my identity and started shitposting under my name for the next several years.
I celebrated when he finally died.

Ewww. She's like a more freakish looking Janet.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | November 16, 2022 11:08 PM |
Truth be told, Janet barely sounds better than LaToya. Neither one of them possesses a singing voice thicker than a sheet of plastic wrap. Artistically & technically LaToya never had the benefit of the elite creative teams Janet had. Janet also had a slight more control of her voice. Even in the studio, LaToya's voice is all over the place.

The superior Jackson sister

R25 This song is a great example of what you’re talking about.
She truly cannot sing this song.

She can’t sing on this song either but it’s cute

R25 She had Full Force and SAW in 1988 and still bombed. I don’t think they liked her though.
The songs were cute tho.

I also think that people had their fill of new Jackson talent, by the time La Toya jumped into the mix. The stars were long established, and they were Michael & Janet. Sure, even Jermaine had a bit of a run himself, but to even a lesser extent than La Toya, it didn't last.
La Toya's Exotic Club Tour is my favorite effort. It wasn't musical at all, but there was a more than a little controversy when it was revealed that La Toya herself would not be shedding a stitch. Audiences were pissed, and the concept flopped.

I really hope Jamie, Tommy and Matt Emrick aren't posting in this thread. I really hate those guys.

Her original nose job was a good one. But who can stop at one, I guess...

Her collaboration with Hüsker Dü was truly groundbreaking.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | April 16, 2023 4:19 AM |
She's basically the 5th Beatle!
by Anonymous | reply 36 | April 16, 2023 4:21 AM |
I find hard to believe somebody listened a whole La Toya Jackson album, let alone her entire discography.
She makes Janet sound like Maria Callas.

I love this song of hers, but the melody is very clearly ripped off from some other song (although my stupid brain can't think of exactly which one). Can anyone please help me figure it out? It's bothering me!
