Now I think - not a very romantic gift

But at the time, we were ALL excited

I still have my Panasonic microwave from the early 90s. It may not be pretty, but it still works great.

I well remember our Amana Radarange. If I remember correctly those damn things were hideously expensive.

My brother and SIL got one early on. He said it was heavy as hell and compared to modern ones, underpowered.

My mom had the Amanda radar range, with the electronic touch controls. It was pretty pricy. My mother used it to cook bacon and warm a cold cup of coffee.

I’m impressed how she gave the entire presentation holding a lit cigarette.

My mother used hers as a bread box.

My dad was a kitchen appliance geek- we got a microwave as soon as they came out- yes, im old. I swear we watched meals being cooked like they were The Wonderful World of Disney. Then- DING!!! Dinner is done!!! He did perfect a bunch of meals, there were a lot of fails as well. I think I still have the cookbook that came with that microwave. Anyway, he perfected cinnamon rolls , & he would make them almost daily for my sister & I for us to eat in the car on our way to school. The drivers were always so jealous.....

I bet she smelled of cigarettes.......
