From 1973

It cooks everything in 1/4 the time and uses less electricity.

I remember the year my mother got one for Christmas.

Now I think - not a very romantic gift

But at the time, we were ALL excited

I still have my Panasonic microwave from the early 90s. It may not be pretty, but it still works great.

The microwave hit the US marketplace in 1967

Shouldn't our own Della weigh in here?

Shirley Jones seems more emotionally invested in endorsing the Sunbeam Crepemaker.

I well remember our Amana Radarange. If I remember correctly those damn things were hideously expensive.

My brother and SIL got one early on. He said it was heavy as hell and compared to modern ones, underpowered.

Barbara Hale was a smoker! Raymond Burr called her “Two-Pack!”

by Anonymousreply 11November 13, 2022 11:22 PM

She lies!

by Anonymousreply 12November 13, 2022 11:52 PM

Takes too long to make my supper!

by Anonymousreply 13November 13, 2022 11:58 PM

OP- She sounds like someone who smoked a LOT of cigarettes.

My new drag name is Amana Radarange.

by Anonymousreply 15November 14, 2022 12:16 AM

Radar?

So you cook your food and also know the position of nearby aircraft?

by Anonymousreply 16November 14, 2022 12:20 AM

My mom had the Amanda radar range, with the electronic touch controls. It was pretty pricy. My mother used it to cook bacon and warm a cold cup of coffee.

I’m impressed how she gave the entire presentation holding a lit cigarette.

by Anonymousreply 18November 14, 2022 2:26 AM

My mother used hers as a bread box.

My dad was a kitchen appliance geek- we got a microwave as soon as they came out- yes, im old. I swear we watched meals being cooked like they were The Wonderful World of Disney. Then- DING!!! Dinner is done!!! He did perfect a bunch of meals, there were a lot of fails as well. I think I still have the cookbook that came with that microwave. Anyway, he perfected cinnamon rolls , & he would make them almost daily for my sister & I for us to eat in the car on our way to school. The drivers were always so jealous.....

by Anonymousreply 20November 14, 2022 5:19 AM

I bet she smelled of cigarettes.......

by Anonymousreply 21November 14, 2022 5:20 AM

Amana Radarange is my favorite Bollywood actress.
