The Disney Channel Original movie 'Cadet Kelly' (2001), starring Hilary Duff & Christy Carlson-Romano, is a kid-friendly remake of this.

Cadet Kelly was more closely related to the young feminist heroine who fought to be admitted to VMI.

It was Aug. 20, 1997, a landmark week at the Virginia Military Institute. After a fierce battle that had gone all the way to the Supreme Court, the nation's oldest state-supported military college had finally admitted women.

And then after all that she couldn't hack it.

With her enrollment last summer, Beth Ann Hogan, of Junction City, Ore., ended a 158-year line of 16,000 male names in three leather-bound ledgers at the institute. But after returning from Christmas break on Tuesday, the 18-year-old decided the military school's rigorous testing of its freshmen was not for her, sources at the school said.

"There was nothing unusual about this departure," said VMI spokesman Mike Strickler. VMI officials say they counsel all students who express a desire to leave, to ensure that they are not just temporarily upset or exhausted and that nothing inappropriate has happened to them in the school's grueling environment.

Strickler said the cadet who left yesterday went through that counseling process and was simply not happy at the institute. School officials then contacted her parents to inform them of her decision.

I'm watching the scene when they're in the woods trying to capture other soldiers. Mary Kay Place was so cute when she was younger- no I'm not a Lesbian nor a straight guy but I just wanted to mention it. By the time she appeared in the first Tales Of The City (1994) which was by far the best- she was so Matronly looking already.

The awful TV remake!! In 1981, Private Benjamin was made into an Emmy and Golden Globe–winning television series of the same name that ran from 1981 to 1983. Set during the events of the film, it starred Lorna Patterson, Eileen Brennan, Hal Williams, Lisa Raggio, Wendie Jo Sperber and Joel Brooks. For the series, Brennan and Williams reprised their film roles, again portraying Captain Doreen Lewis and Sergeant L. C. Ross respectively .Captain Lewis and Private Benjamin become friends in the TV sitcom version of Private Benjamin. In the movie they remain enemies.

I just watched it too. I haven't watched it in a long time. Great movie. Great cast.

The only thing wrong with this movie is the ending.

Yes I lose interest in the film when she transfers to Paris
