My uppity "Friend" just bought a crappy iPhone 14 and he acts like his phone is better than everyone else. He is also a mac user and swears mac never has problems, it never slows down and it never crashes and the mac is more popular than the PC. I call BS, 70% of the market is PC macs and iPhone market is much smaller but he is convinced its the largest. The guy lives in LaLa Land. He is delusional as hell. I am starting to hate all Apple Users.
Why are Apple Users so arrogant?
by Anonymous | reply 71 | November 13, 2022 6:10 PM |
They can only act uppity because you look like a dump. What a dump!
by Anonymous | reply 1 | November 10, 2022 9:32 PM |
Because they grossly overpaid for it and can't admit they were suckered. I've been in the IT business for a million years, and the hardware from them has always been cheap. The antennas/transmitters on anything wireless they have are really shitty just as an example. The vast majority of the population has no background or expertise whatsoever in hardware, so they don't know/can't tell.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | November 10, 2022 9:36 PM |
I've disdained mac products for decades but I've thinking about getting an i-phone mini 13, because the size is better for my small hands. However, I also like using open source, sketchy apps that let you bypass ads on youtube and read newspapers for free. That is ultimately why I don't think I'll switch-- I like the flexibility that comes with androids.

I’m not uppity but I switch to an AirMac several years ago from having used PCs which were always fucking up and have not had ANY problem in the last 3 years that have used it. I have an IPhone SE that’s not the latest or greatest but works perfectly well and syncs well with my other Apple devices . The Mac was more expensive that a regular laptop and it was worth it I also doubt I will upgrade for several more years . My boyfriend used his last Mac for ten years with the same experience as mine , no problems with slowing down etc etc. You and your friend sound kind of silly .

People with an Apple or non-Apple "identity." Jesus. They both can get the job done. People spewing mind-numbingly detailed narratives on how they came to be an Apple Person or an Android/PC person. Fuck. Again, they both work.

Sunk coat fallacy for the lot of all you apple peeps!!!!!!! The university where I work as a researcher not only rejects Apple and iOS products, but some of us use our own operating systems because we don’t trust Microsoft either! Apple is a problem because you cannot repair it you have to bring it to them and the repair is a big scam. Save yourselves!

Yeah... my MacBook Pro is going on 7 years and still works great. I bought a MacBook Air to carry around too. Never had problems with viruses, etc. I do think PCs are much improved over the last few years, though. I have one just for games and downloading, and it's a year old and still pretty good. It's a really good HP Elite though (bought it used from my company when we upgraded). My Dell before I started buying Macs lasted barely a year.

by Anonymous | reply 32 | November 10, 2022 10:50 PM |
I bought a MacBook Pro in 2007 and have used the hell out of it almost every day for 15 years. In that time I've had two problems: replacing a charger because my cat chewed the cable, and a battery that should be replaced -- instead I just keep it plugged in at all times and don't rely on the battery for power.
It's been a joy in simply performing correctly ALL the time. My company-issued 5 or 6 Dell laptops in that time, at a rate of 1 every 3 years - twice for performance issues, 3 times because that was the replacement schedule. The did all the irritating things: the sluggish, stubborn anti-virus software grinding things to a near halt when least convenient, and no less inconvenient, the neverending updates where everything has to stop and then be started with some frequency (the Mac made updates, but there were maybe 3 times where the update took more than seconds and could be scheduled at my convenience.
For travel and if I want to work on something outside my office, I have a Google Pixel Chromebook (2018.) It's great for that purpose, super Slim and reliable, avoids the constant PC update interruptions. However it's not so lightning fast with a hundred tabs open, and the keyboard layout has its Google quirks, requiring done effort to use foreign language and current characters and some other quirks that take some tie upfront to acclimate to - it's a great laptop, more than most people might need for non-gaming personal use, it just have a couple learnable style quirks. But 4 years with a lot of use it's been great.
I started with PCs and Microsoft and turning over part of your computer life ti fighting/feeding endless "for your own good" mandatory updates that shut everything down just when you would least like. I'm accustomed to upgrading every 3 or 4 years to address the creep of PC sluggishness. I'm not unfamiliar with having a laptop that feels more adversary than servant, but I would never buy one again.

Apple-induced arrogance seems very 2007. Everyone has a decent phone these days so why brag about spending $2000?

R18, I'm not R9, but when you text, iPhone to iPhone, the text bubbles are blue. If you text, iPhone to non-iPhone, then the text bubbles are green.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | November 11, 2022 4:03 PM |
There's a bit more to it than that, R237 & R9. I participate in several large-group chats from work. There are 17 people -16 iPhones and one Android. Because of the Android in the group, whenever anyone does a tapback (like, love, question, etc.) the Android can't handle the emojis, so instead everyone is treated to a repost of the original message, with the header "so-and-so liked..." If someone says something popular, you literally get the message reposted 15 times! That leads to a lot of scrolling and more than a few lost messages. In an Apple-only group, you can give the group a name, which is really helpful when you have multiple discussions going. Maybe those things all work in an Android-only environment, but they are hell in a mixed marriage...
by Anonymous | reply 38 | November 11, 2022 4:33 PM |
I have been apple-only for at least ten years now, and quite honestly, I have never had one single problem. That was NOT the case with Windows products (seemingly from ANY manufacturer). The Windows products and operating system regularly went wonky (seemingly for no reason) and were constantly infected with hundreds of viruses which slowed it down. I have never had any of that with Apple. For me, it was worth the cost; for others, maybe not.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | November 11, 2022 4:44 PM |
I avoid like the plague anyone whose self-worth is tied up in the things they buy. I don’t care what phone anyone owns. The question is, will they answer it when I call and are they good company.

Back when I had a Toshiba PC which ran on a Microsoft operating system, if I had a problem with a mouse with hardware and drivers by yet another company, whom do I call for help? Invariably each company would say I needed to talk to another company.
Switch to Mac and call Apple who makes everything—hard and soft.
Is that a superior customer experience? Yes.

by Anonymous | reply 43 | November 11, 2022 5:17 PM |
Apple users aren’t particular arrogant. They just keep claiming they like Apple because the products just work.
Why would anyone claim that as arrogance?
by Anonymous | reply 44 | November 11, 2022 5:22 PM |
Why do you care? It's a possession. If people are snooty about shit they own, let them think their ownership makes them better. It only makes them look like fools to sane people.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | November 11, 2022 5:25 PM |
As I understand it, phone manufacturers and phone companies load up Android phones with their own software and control when (and whether) updates from Google are distributed. Chosing to enter that ecosystem is not something that would cause me to call others foolish.

"Chosing to enter that ecosystem is not something that would cause me to call others foolish."
R46 What?
by Anonymous | reply 47 | November 11, 2022 5:36 PM |
I resisted Apple products for years until I bought my first Mac, then my first iPhone and so on. I won't say all their products are infallible (the AirPods, for instance, suck) but as a whole, my experience has been so much better than with any of the other brands. To be arrogant about such shit is stupid but that has nothing to do with Apple and everything to do with your friend's insecurity.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | November 11, 2022 5:43 PM |
I like Apple products and how they interact with each other.
I’m not crazed about them and don’t need to convince the world to buy them. That said, it’s just easier for me to keeping buying them when one breaks.
My MacBook Air, however, continues chugging along at year 10
by Anonymous | reply 49 | November 11, 2022 5:53 PM |
Why am I arrogant? I bought Apple stock at $11. Since then it has split fourteen times, and is currently at $150.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | November 11, 2022 6:02 PM |
Are you living in a hovel in Nairobi, OP?
Otherwise you must be writing from 2009, because no one who has an Apple product is arrogant anymore in the developed world. Only in 3rd world places where they live off of Chinese brands you've never heard of.

I have a friend who is inexplicably bitchy about me not being an apple phone user. He will feign shock that I have an android phone. He will ask why I don't have an iPhone like as if not having one is some sort of affliction. It's automatically assumed I must defend why I don't have an iPhone. I have to point out that android has been ahead of Apple on some features. Thankfully after all of the above over the years, he has shut up about it.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | November 11, 2022 6:12 PM |
Stop generalizing about Apple users. As a graphic designer, the Mac is the only computer I learned to do graphics on when my field went from old school 'paste up mechanicals', done with T-squares, rubber cement and triangles, to graphics and layouts done on computers.
I never brag about my Apple computers. I have a desktop for work, a laptop and an iPad. I don't even have an iPhone. I hate cells in general, I use a flip phone! I don't need to do banking or go online etc on a cell. I laugh when people tell me, "My LIFE is on my phone, I would die if I lose my cell!" Please.
Apple computers happen to be very easy to use. That is a big plus.

I heard young Millennial (verging on Zoomer age) coworkers making fun of people whose text messages are green or blue or whatever color indicates they're not from an Apple device. I didn't understand what they were talking about. They explained it, giggling. I told them they're preoccupied with the wrong things in life and are always going to be strapped for cash if they associate brand names with self-worth, and then I walked away.
They probably made fun of the old gay guy but I really don't care. Pay dumb fashion victims no mind.

I've never ever had to wait more than 5 minutes for any download on a Windows product.
To all those people who mentioned Dell computers, why the hell would anyone buy a Dell computer? Dell makes shitty computers. That's not a Windows problem. I buy Lenovo and HP computers and so does my job. We never spend more than $500 for a computer. We run seventy two computers, 16 or more hours a day and they last at least 10 years, without any hardware problems. I just ordered a new $600 HP computer. It's replacing my old $300 computer from 2011 (which still runs).
I have an apple phone and an Android phone (for work). I only got the Apple because it was free. I'd never pay that much for a phone. The apple has a much better camera, but other than that, I don't find it much different.

This may be a T-Mobile issue but data loads much more quickly on my Samsung than my iPhone. On the iPhone it doesn’t matter if I click on an Apple News or a Google featured article it always takes longer for the text and pictures to appear. The iPhone was more expensive. The Samsung is a free phone with a 2-year plan - so it’s not even a high-level recent Galaxy.

His most major shift in life was having the boiler converted to natural gas when the coal yard finally closed in the late 60’s… Again he hung on to shoveling that coal because he liked to know exactly how much fuel he was using, you know gas meters can be fanangald and are notoriously inaccurate.
