Just as motion pictures changed acting landscape dominated for ages by live theatre, television did same to films. Thanks to advances in modern technology we now have a whole new world of streaming and other digital media giving rise to yet another outlet for "actors".

There is only but so much legitimate talent to go around. Rest will be jumped up models, those whose best work was on casting couches and others with very little to offer in terms of legitimate acting talent.

It must be excruciating for her to watch people like the Kardashians have more following and more influence, and a lot richer than her, what they made in a month by posting nothing but stupid selfies on IG is more than her, an A list actress in a year! 😤🤥😒

nepo parents having knowledge of the biz are more aggressive on contracts than typical stage parent

untrained kid (which the bulk remain despite claims they've grown up in the industry, so they were exposed) ends up with a major picture deal at a young age that extends into their twenties.. . regardless of what happens in this kid's future or how they feel about it. so, they're on the hook, the studio is on the hook and nobody wins. Rarely are there any true breakouts.

so many directors now (also untrained) getting massive deals based on former celebrity and tends to select former celebrities or those in circles, where casting and associated staff are only formalities (corporate is in it's own zone and can't imagine if a kid is hot today, how they could be cold tommorrow. the nepo crowd are high on their own farts and the rest of the industry is split into various factions but mostly have other side hustles they've given up fighting any of this shit.)

basically, people that appeared in hot product, even if they're shit now, have a higher chance of securing a gig. . . because of that public awareness factor, even if they're utter shit.

Aniston we all know is such a nepobaby that could always fall back on daddy if it didn't work out because she never really had any skills or interests to begin with. She has grown as actress but it's taken her decades, and it's the equivalent of a bag girl become a cashier on her level of growth. It gave her power to move from star to commercial which is really where she made the bulk of her earnings as a celebrity spokesperson and influencer than as a star.

while talent those doors are more narrow than before, if they stay in the industry, they go through what opens. so, they're lucky to have one big break but most still fall into obscurity because they don't have the sociopolitical backing with either legacy or the in-crowd of the moment.. so the security lot lizard that is the third cousin, twice removed of major star has a better chance of securing a gig than the rising nobody.

which everyone knows, in all sectors of the industry in every part of the world (more of a serious issue in smaller nations with competition for public funds and loans for anything from gaming to animation to major film) but have been stuck sitting on their thumbs for the last twenty or so years... kind of like trying to get term limits in congress except the guilds are a joke and there's no way to enforce limits on what is just the culture, the social norms. The people upset the most are the people that can't catch a break and when they do they're happy to play by these norms. Go figure.

The irony is that I feel like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were really the last big "movie stars". Though Aniston has had a very successful crossover acting career, I wouldn't call her a movie star. I am surprised she hasn't leaned into some disposable thriller series on Netflix like "The Watcher" and cash in a nice pay day. She looked good up until about 50 but she's hit a wall. I've heard she is athletic but a very heavy smoker.

She was in a small little tentpole show for Apple TV's called "The Morning Show". Every heard of it? She is paid $2 million per episodes, there have been 20 episodes and a S3 coming out. She's cashed the fuck in and is making more than most actors or actresses because AppleTV was desperate the get a big names for this show.

Funny enough, cheaper "Ted Lasso" has a much bigger impact but Jennifer and Reece will not be denied their money.

I see the future with CGI "actors". Real actors will still do theater. I was watching some show that relies heavily on CGI and you couldn't tell the cgi from real actors. Pores, stubble and other imperfections were all there.
