R15 I know this is hard to believe but many women are not maternal. And most of history women were forced into the motherhood role. Not everyone has a biological clock. A lot of is cultural. Jennifer is a rich celebrity who made millions before she was 35. Maybe she enjoys the freedom of being childless? Maybe because of her shitty parents, she feels she'd lack the ability to be a good mother? She has more options than a regular working class woman and chose to not have babies. Nothing wrong with that.

Many gay men irl don't have that much interest in having kids. Just because some rich older women and gay men use surrogates doesn't mean it's this huge phenomenon. Celebrities are not like normal people, they are professional liars and for many of them kids are a type of status symbols to enhance their brands. What is different between when royals had a bunch of kids they neglected to be raised by nannies? When many things could be off about the adopted child genetically or if older they have trauma. And I don't think it's selfish to want to have biological children. We truly have sex for pleasure as we don't have mating cycles, pregnancy is not that easy, we have to be intensely aroused before any sex goes on, we usually only give birth to one child at a time, we become infatuated and go through courtship rituals and serial monogamy similar to birds and homosexual relationships also exist as a form of pair bonding and another way of sexual pleasure. Forms of birth control and abortion are as old as mankind itself. And there's now evidence that disabled, elderly and mentally challenged were cared for and forms of surgery and casts and prosthetics existed as seen in fossils. This contradicts the myth that we abandoned the weak and those who couldn't contribute. Birth control only became taboo once agriculture, war and conquest became the prime goal of civilization to maintain power and Abrahamic religions and capitalism reinforcing that. After that the only way women could opt out of motherhood was becoming a nun.

But for those who say they want them but can't birth them, there are alternatives to birthing your own. If she decided against that option that's her business. But at least be honest about it. She was disappointed she couldn't birth her own, but didn't want someone else's kid. That's her prerogative. But for many who really, really want children and who have the means, they find ways to raise and love a child, even non-bio ones.
