Have been giving this topic a lot of thought lately, and I think it truly stems from men refusing to develop or use empathy enough to realise that women have interiority that is as rich and worthy as their own--that a woman is a whole living ensouled human, not a sextoy or an assistant tool or an automaton maid/mommy slave. That any given woman has powerful animal motivations, feelings, desires and fears that have nothing to do with just getting off, and that these are worth caring about and seeing as part of her integral whole.

I got punched in the face on a tube station platform in 2008 for telling a drunk man who had tried to grab my tits to "piss off." He just hauled off and punched me. I was actually accused of stalking by one guy - not seriously but he said the words - after we met at a mall and chatted and clicked and he told me to swing by his shop so we could chat more (he worked in the mall). For about 2-3 weeks, I kid you not, he would drive around our block in his animal control truck almost constantly. Sometimes I would see it parked a couple of streets back but within view of our house. We had never seen an animal control truck in the neighborhood before as they don't usually come out unless called (it's not a "patrol" job). The only reason he was out was because someone in our neighborhood called them to report a pitbull running loose (our dog) which for most people, is terrifying. There was no reason for him to be out near our house as frequently as he was after that initial incident. It got to a point when I worked with another manager who told him to go to another location, which he refused, I'd have to go to the back store room and even then he'd stand outside the door and say, "I know you're in there." When I did quit I faxed my experience to all the neighboring stores and how the GM didn't protect my safety. I heard the GM later said to a friend that still worked there, "She made her bed and now has to lie in it." They intitially denied me unemployment but I went to mediation fought it and won. I was 23 he was about 60. His rape charge was on a 12 year old girl. It's sickening how good customer service can be confused to some nutcase as you being into them.

When you declare it is obvious why the policy was discontinued, you are mistaken.

In my decades of experience working in retail, management kept a lean staffing schedule, even before covid caused long term staffing issues.

Having a staff member who is assigned to ring up customers, leave their post to escort a client to the cereal aisle is inefficient.

This was 20 years ago, when sexual harassment and stalking weren’t taken so seriously. And it was just a restaurant job. Those places don’t have HR departments.

It certainly does, R234. Almost all of that constant low-level stress around being approached by men and just dealing with men is gone. I'm an elder gay who has worked on crews of men, mostly straight, for many many years and those guys never correct each other or hold each other accountable for any behavior. The reason?
