Murdered? Killed by an alien?

I've done a lot of hiking in both the Olympics and the Cascades. Never, even as a sturdy man, would I go alone overnight or on unfamiliar trails in the backcountry. But even the buddy system won't keep you safe from maniacs and criminals, who seek the backcountry to commit crimes or escape the law.

Good luck finding her alive now. It's apparently snowing like crazy right now in Mt. Shasta...pretty sure there's some snowfall in WA as well. If not, it's getting down to low 30s. It's been 5 days. She wasn't familiar with the area(s). This is probably not going to turn out well.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | November 8, 2022 4:15 AM |
Is that really a woman? She's got a tragic hairline. I'm just asking because lately all these "have you seen her?" posters of actual dudes, like that guy in Canada that was missing but was a "woman" and it just throws people off when you're looking for people and have a pc desciption of them that is not at all accurate.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | November 8, 2022 4:24 AM |
She is living with Vivian Vance
by Anonymous | reply 4 | November 8, 2022 4:28 AM |
Woman can bald too. The pic they posted shows fat distribution typical of a woman.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | November 8, 2022 4:31 AM |
Okay R5, fair enough. Poor thing is a hard 35.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | November 8, 2022 4:34 AM |
That photo just captured her bad side, which is facing the camera. It would have been a more flattering photo if it was a photo of the back of her head.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | November 8, 2022 4:36 AM |
Also, she is plain-looking, no one is going to look too hard for her.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | November 8, 2022 4:38 AM |
Please be kind DL. Please, it's the holidays.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | November 8, 2022 4:38 AM |
She went out there to fuck
by Anonymous | reply 10 | November 8, 2022 4:38 AM |
So many “experienced hikers” vanish in the wilderness, which goes to show that experience does not equal intelligence or common sense.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | November 8, 2022 4:43 AM |
Still missing! But datalounge doesn’t care because she’s five foot five and 200 pounds.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | November 10, 2022 12:19 PM |
And white^.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | November 10, 2022 12:23 PM |
Well, it wasn't a sexual crime, was it.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | November 10, 2022 12:35 PM |
she has a long term boyfriend,
by Anonymous | reply 15 | November 10, 2022 12:52 PM |
"...the only thing that has been found was her rental car at the parking lot of the Graves Creek Trailhead on Wednesday, Gaskill said."
"'Her long-term boyfriend is here, too,' Gaskill texted after speaking about Macke. 'He says the forest is healing for her.'"
So... We don't actually know that she ever even ENTERED the park? But we do know that Long-Term Boyfriend is there? When exactly did he arrive?

Sunday was the fifth day of a search for the 35-year-old woman, who’s family reported her missing Wednesday morning.
Where is the grammar patrol?
by Anonymous | reply 17 | November 10, 2022 12:53 PM |
NO Miss r17, they MEANT WHAT THEY WROTE. They’re simply asking who is the random family who reported her missing.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | November 10, 2022 1:06 PM |
who is family reported her missing?
by Anonymous | reply 19 | November 10, 2022 1:08 PM |
"Police talked to hundreds of stylists, makeup artists, and hairdressers. None had seen her."
by Anonymous | reply 20 | November 10, 2022 1:10 PM |
I'd surrender myself to the wilds if I looked like that too
by Anonymous | reply 21 | November 10, 2022 1:12 PM |
r12 And a woman, and that's the biggest problem with her. DL isn't going to wring their hands over this.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | November 10, 2022 2:00 PM |
The boyfriend probably killed her.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | November 10, 2022 2:04 PM |
Some of you are total bastards. R3, should shut his fucking mouth, too. I hope they find her alive but, it doesn't look good.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | November 10, 2022 2:23 PM |
Lost her footing and fell into a ravine into a scrub of bushes. She shoulda gotten that new satellite connection IPhone!
by Anonymous | reply 25 | November 10, 2022 2:25 PM |
This missing person is getting a little more exposure (pardon the expression) than most, because she’s got a family connection to a country singer, Tyler Rich, and his adorable wife, Sabina Gadecki.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | November 10, 2022 2:27 PM |
I agree r24 but DL is a place of gallows humor.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | November 10, 2022 2:28 PM |
I do know that R27. I really feel for this Woman and her family.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | November 10, 2022 2:33 PM |
Jesus, R28, get a grip.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | November 10, 2022 2:38 PM |
That's the best photo of Sasquatch ever taken! But where's the lady? I hope she's ok.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | November 10, 2022 3:51 PM |
I've got a grip now R29. Sorry.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | November 10, 2022 4:00 PM |
R1 has a good point. They said maniacs and criminals could be hiding out there. I didn't think of that.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | November 10, 2022 4:02 PM |
She could have fallen into a deep spot and can't get out. Also, even if experienced, she was still heavy, for her height.
Finally, she had a permit for Oct. 30 and 31, but planned to remain until Nov. 1. Why?
She's hiking alone. I do feel bad for her and people should be able to do solo hikes.
I've lived in places where people (tourists) underestimate the terrain, then there's a lot of money spent on search & rescue.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | November 10, 2022 4:17 PM |
Tripped and fell down a hill, it’s obvious. Still they need to recover her remains so her family gets closure. I hope the body has been unmolested by bears.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | November 10, 2022 4:23 PM |
She got injured and probably died of hypothermia.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | November 10, 2022 4:26 PM |
She will be found near water.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | November 10, 2022 6:47 PM |
She looks so sweet. She’ll be found. 🤞
by Anonymous | reply 37 | November 10, 2022 11:45 PM |
She’ll be found ALIVE I meant. ^
by Anonymous | reply 38 | November 10, 2022 11:46 PM |
Eaten by a grizzly bear.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | November 11, 2022 12:28 AM |
Sasquatches are at their biggest and wiliest up there, and hunt in groups. They are careful and target people who are alone, especially if apparently unarmed, female or disabled (or a child - they like children).
With other animals they'll take the organs and leave the body behind. But, being intelligent, they make sure that human bodies aren't found. Just like they've been observed to do with their own dead, they likely pull the carcass apart and beat the bones against trees to break them up, and then they just scatter the bits. Clothing items sometimes have been found, but sometimes these are torn up, and it's so long after the disappearances that identification is usually impossible.
There are no grizzlies in Olympic National Park, R39. Only black bears.
Any other questions?

I went camping in the Tennessee Smokies on the same weekend. It was only in the low 40's, but the temperature fluctuations kicked my ass. It wasn't nearly as cold as where Laura was, but even with training, it's tough to manage, especially alone. I have serious endurance training, so it ain't hopeful.
And now in the spirit of DataLounge and Dan Motherfuck, I present:

Every year you hear about experienced hikers who go off on their own and end up dying.

I knew Paul Allen didn't die, but had simply transitioned and gone underground.

Let’s just ask her. Laura?

Forest is not healing her now.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | November 11, 2022 3:15 AM |
It was heat exhaustion.

I would never go on a long hike alone in a National Forest or big state park…especially after reading about Israel Keyes.
