Child celebrities who didn't stand a chance of having normal or happy adult lives
It would be easy to say this of all child celebrities who grew up, but many of them have managed to have had normal lives (Shirley Temple is an absolute case in point--the most famous child in the world when she was growing up, and she succeeded as an adult in the field of diplomacy). But Aaron Carter's death reminds me that some of them had the deck so clearly stacked against them because they were so fucked up and manipulated and used as kids they would never live a happy or long life of any kind.
Besides Carter, I would suggest:
*Michael Jackson
*Anissa Jones ("Buffy" from "Family Affair")
*Gary Coleman

Dana Plato.
One of her contemporaries said that in an industry of stage monster-mothers, Dana's was perhaps the worst.
I don't see a happy outcome for Millie Bobby Brown, unfortunately.

Wouldn't it be easier to list the few who grew up (relatively) normal and happy?
Roddy McDowell
Bill Mumy
. . . now I'm stuck for another.

[quote] The Coreys
This one stinks to the high heavens. They claim a 19-year-old Charlie Sheen raped a 13-year-old Corey Haim. There are claims that Haim loved Sheen but was subsequently rejected by him.
Couple this with the fact Corey Feldman is making the accusations. Feldman is on some religious campaign.
My gut tells me Feldman is a fraud.

What differentiates tragic former child stars from successful former child stars are loving, responsible parents. Every child performer with a parent who was involved and protective grew up into healthy, stable adults. Good parenting always makes the difference.

The Olsen twins. They may be successful and rich, but there is something very dark and off about them, especially Mary-Kate.

Yes, r11 and Mary-Kate's involvement in the death of Heath Ledger is astounding: when he was found unconscious and in a dire predicament, his staff followed orders that in emergency situations they were to ring MK or her bodyguard. By the time they did that, got stalled and then finally called paramedics and the ambulance staff arrived, it was too late. But someone commented on the situation that his body was still warm enough that had 911 been dialled straight away, he could have made it.
Ledger was using meds prescribed by doctors on three different continents, none of whom was completely aware of what the others were prescribing. He also had something in his system which wasn't prescribed (his three doctors couldn't account for prescribing it), thought to have been supplied by MK, hence the emergency phone call. He was said to be involved with her, along with Helena Christensen and Gemma Ward. No matter to her, she was seen out clubbing with her twin sister the night after his death.
He had walking pneumonia, severe insomnia, was exhausted from overwork, jet-lagged and trying to recover from the WP in order to not to put his last film behind schedule and overbudget. Of all public deaths it seems particularly pointless and preventable. There were rumours the Olsen twins (via their staff members) actually illegally supply what should be prescribed drugs to select clients. Why they would do this when they've long been billionaires seems bizarre. But the reasoning is that those two weird little trolls have enough power and money to access the drugs and then distribute them to those who can afford it, without getting busted.

R17, she sent three security guards to his apartment but they arrived (separately from each other) at the same time and after the paramedics. After police found drugs there, they requested an interview with her as part of their investigation, but she refused unless she was granted immunity. Immunity from what exactly? But given how much her lawyers and PR probably cost, it wasn't hard for her to swat the police and the publicity away.
BTW, I don't think Kris Jenner's grandkids stand much of a chance of being normal. I assume they will all be home-schooled, especially Kim and Kanye's kids.
