Tiffany Cross is fired by MSNBC!

I admit, I did not see this coming.

[bold]WOKE WOKITY WOKE BLM TRANS ANTIFAAAAA!!![/bold]

by Anonymousreply 1November 4, 2022 9:58 PM

She has nice cleavage but the hair is all kindsa wrong.

by Anonymousreply 2November 4, 2022 10:00 PM

Seems pretty sudden. I previously had the impression they were very supportive of her and her right to speak as she finds.

Maybe she demanded a raise?

by Anonymousreply 3November 4, 2022 10:01 PM

She said some spicy things on a radio show that MSNBC did not like.

by Anonymousreply 4November 4, 2022 10:03 PM

She got too big for her britches

by Anonymousreply 5November 4, 2022 10:04 PM

Why is Variety using the phrase "cutting all ties with" rather than just saying "fired" or "not renewed"?

by Anonymousreply 6November 4, 2022 10:04 PM

"all kindsa wrong"

R2 Try to write like an adult.

by Anonymousreply 7November 4, 2022 10:04 PM

Oh, fuck you, R7.

How's that?

by Anonymousreply 8November 4, 2022 10:06 PM

She was a light weight. Not a big loss.

by Anonymousreply 9November 4, 2022 10:09 PM

Sever all ties immediately means girlfriend fucked up.

by Anonymousreply 10November 4, 2022 10:15 PM

Who gets her slot?

by Anonymousreply 11November 4, 2022 10:15 PM

I hope Joy Reid is next!

by Anonymousreply 12November 4, 2022 10:19 PM

r4, The article doesn't say anything like that.

by Anonymousreply 13November 4, 2022 10:33 PM

Al Sharpton and Joy Reid remain. At least Tiffany never got people killed in race riots like Al did.

by Anonymousreply 14November 4, 2022 10:37 PM

I think she's the prototypical Angry Black Woman. I'm frequently exposed to these women at work, where they're part of management, and while I understand where they're coming from, I would not choose to watch one each week, particularly with that voice. I don't think she's racist. I think she's perpetually pissed off.

by Anonymousreply 15November 4, 2022 10:51 PM

[quote]I think she's perpetually pissed off.

$100 says bitch posts here.

by Anonymousreply 16November 4, 2022 10:58 PM

Which race riots?

by Anonymousreply 17November 4, 2022 11:03 PM

Twitter is singing her praises. I am willing to bet that some of the notables praising her rarely if ever bothered to watch her show. '

I didn't care one way or the other. I thought the show was designed for a Black audience and had no problem with that. Now she's a martyr/ MSNBC fucks up again.

by Anonymousreply 19November 4, 2022 11:14 PM

Thank you, r19. Bizarre that Variety bothered to write an entire article on her firing while omitting this important bit of context.

by Anonymousreply 20November 4, 2022 11:20 PM

Shades of Melissa Harris Perry. Is MSNBC racist?

by Anonymousreply 21November 4, 2022 11:25 PM

Oh shit - I totally forgot about Melissa Harris Perry - she was a special brand of bat shit crazy.

by Anonymousreply 22November 4, 2022 11:42 PM

This is the clip for which she was fired and frankly, if this pretty tame comments can get her fired, then Joy Ried must not be long for MSNBCworld either.

by Anonymousreply 26November 5, 2022 12:23 AM

Joy is NOT having it.

by Anonymousreply 27November 5, 2022 12:31 AM

Her screechy voice was unbearable. Unwatchable..or unhearable. If they were going to give that slot to a black woman, Zerlina Maxwell was miles better not to mention she doesn't have the voice of an annoying cartoon character.

by Anonymousreply 28November 5, 2022 12:31 AM

If your ratings are decent you can get away with the occasional faux pas but when your ratings are already in the tank you better watch what you say, you are just giving them an easy excuse.

by Anonymousreply 29November 5, 2022 12:52 AM

Tiffany said the TRUTH about Florida, then, she gets fired?! Tiffany called Florida the “dick of the country", she should've called DeSatan that too.

Trump called all Mexicans rapists, said it was OK to grab women by the pussy etc, he then gets elected US president, then proceeded to lead the US down a fascist path, which he's still doing.

How far the US has fallen.

by Anonymousreply 30November 5, 2022 1:02 AM

Twitter is exploding with rage at MSNBC and Rashida Jones for daring to FIRE this woman. Accusing both of RACISM. It’s kinda scary how furious these people are.

by Anonymousreply 31November 5, 2022 1:03 AM

Bad timing for Sunny Hostin to be comparing republican women voters to roaches.

by Anonymousreply 34November 5, 2022 1:42 AM

It's always a good idea to insult white suburban women right before the election. Likewise, it's highly professional for someone with a network news/opinion show to say that Florida looks like a big dick.

Joy has a strong survival instinct--look how she groveled and roped in Jonathan Capehart to hang onto her job when the homophobic tweets again reared their head. She should have done more to mentor her so-called sister than she obviously did.

I think it's possible to bring in a woman of color for that spot who can bring up the same subjects that Tiffany did but approach them more seriously and thoughtfully. Everything for Cross was a pissing contest and about how clever she was. No, not Symone Sanders. Try harder, MSNBC/

by Anonymousreply 35November 5, 2022 1:44 AM

The suits at ABC didn’t take Sunny Hostage aside and tell her to tone it down?

by Anonymousreply 36November 5, 2022 1:47 AM

Her voice grates...

by Anonymousreply 37November 5, 2022 1:49 AM

Laura Coates has declared war on management.

I like Coates a lot!

by Anonymousreply 38November 5, 2022 2:00 AM

Megyn Kelly said on her podcast this morning she was glad Cross was fired. She called Cross 'the most racist person in all of television' and deserved to lose her show.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 39November 5, 2022 2:13 AM

If white women do not show up for Democrats, Sunny better get ready to lose that sweet gig. That was a fucking stupid, stupid thing to say before an election. Total unforced error.

by Anonymousreply 40November 5, 2022 2:18 AM

There is a god.

by Anonymousreply 41November 5, 2022 2:20 AM

Yet, for some reason Symone Sanders still has a job.

by Anonymousreply 42November 5, 2022 2:32 AM

Next get rid of Joyless Reid.

by Anonymousreply 43November 5, 2022 2:46 AM

I mute the volume but still watch Symone. She was like a warrior woman from Wakanda while hustling for Joe Biden.

by Anonymousreply 44November 5, 2022 2:47 AM

I don’t hate her, and frequently agreed with her. None of the comments provided by R19 seemed not that egregious, which is really saying something at MSNBC. I found her more unwatchable than Morning Joe, the worst host at MSNBC IMHO. By contrast, I am a huge Symone fan.

by Anonymousreply 45November 5, 2022 2:49 AM

I'm sure she's a very intelligent person, and prone to speaking truth to power. But I honestly won't miss her because HER VOICE!! It was painful to listen to. I prayed someone would rush the studio and remove her adenoids..... I wish her well - in print.

by Anonymousreply 46November 5, 2022 3:21 AM

R45 they were probably just looking for an excuse to get rid of her. The real story will seep out eventually.

by Anonymousreply 47November 5, 2022 3:22 AM

The only comment in the New York Post article that seemed over the top was this one:

[quote] When speaking about the alleged Trump election interference, she called for progressives to “pick up a weapon and get involved” in the “war” for the survival of the country.

by Anonymousreply 48November 5, 2022 3:27 AM

Tiffany’s statement!

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 50November 5, 2022 4:13 AM

I think Sunny Hostin calling white women "roaches" is much worse than what Tiffany said.

by Anonymousreply 51November 5, 2022 4:18 AM

Never could stand her. She's a lightweight, a dropout from a second tier black college. She plays the race card because she doesn't have any other cards in her deck. She won't be missed and if Joy Reid turns herself into her little acolyte's champion, she'll be out at MSNBC too.

by Anonymousreply 52November 5, 2022 4:38 AM

LSA called...yawn...

by Anonymousreply 53November 5, 2022 5:35 AM

American anchors are so strange. Shit talking anchors... SMH.

by Anonymousreply 54November 5, 2022 6:08 AM

Yes but MSNBC isn't an actual news network so Cross isn't really an anchor. Or wasn't.

by Anonymousreply 55November 5, 2022 6:32 AM

Tiffany's statement makes her firing about silencing her important, truth-telling voice right before the election. Nope, she had an obnoxious voice and personality, dressed inappropriately, picked fights with idiots and made the show all about her in ways that no MSNBC host does.

Now fire Ari Meltzer whom I'm convinced is on the spectrum. He can't explain anything simply and his attempt to be Mr. Hiphop is painful.

She got a show because of Joy but lost it all by herself.

by Anonymousreply 56November 5, 2022 9:17 AM

That comment from Sunny Hostin was over the line. Don't compare people to vermin That is exactly what the Nazis did about Jews, gypsies, gays, the disabled, etc. Compared them to roaches = vermin.

Dehumanizing language is shameful from anyone about anyone.

by Anonymousreply 57November 5, 2022 9:42 AM

Seems like every day someone who isn't a Republican is getting cancelled or fired or something for saying something kind of spicy, while Republicans are constantly doing awful things like trying to claim 82yo Paul Pelosi just got gaybashed by rough trade and it's hilarious. There is a huge double standard and it's never getting called out because the media actively WANTS that double standard.

by Anonymousreply 58November 5, 2022 9:49 AM

Franz Kafka the great Czech author, heard him and his family --all Jews-- called vermin so much that he wrote a small book about it Metamorphosis?

Somebody tell the genius Sunny Hostin that most Republicans are not Jews. Most Jews in this country are Democrats.

by Anonymousreply 59November 5, 2022 9:50 AM

The “pick up a weapon and get involved” quote was pushed by the usual rightwing news outlets without proper context.

Jasmine Crockett had just said that the fight for voting rights was a battle, and some battles had been lost but the war could still be won. Cross continued the metaphor with her reply.

I'm not saying it was the right thing to say, I personally believe any talk like that is ill-advised in the current climate, but the fact that only places like Fox, Daily Mail, NY Post, Washington Examiner reported on it AND that they didn't offer up context makes it pretty clear that they knew context would dull the outrage they were trying to create.

by Anonymousreply 60November 5, 2022 9:55 AM

Joy Reid was in Florida for Thursday’s show with an audience outdoors.

For the closing minutes, she ventured into the audience with a microphone to ask “What is the main issue in next Tuesday’s election?”.

Each person she asked responded “Democracy”, as they were obviously prompted to say.

by Anonymousreply 61November 5, 2022 10:05 AM

Never watched her past her first few episodes, so I can’t say much about the controversial content. Her voice made her show unwatchable to me.

by Anonymousreply 62November 5, 2022 10:32 AM

Tiffany didn’t say sorry in that statement.

In her eyes, she did nothing wrong. She thinks can do/say anything w/no consequences.

Guess it caught up to her this week.

by Anonymousreply 63November 5, 2022 10:44 AM

Uh, Florida is the asshole and gaping rancid cunt of America. She couldn’t have been more right about that. She got fired for that? Lol. MSNBC is fucked.

by Anonymousreply 64November 5, 2022 11:30 AM

I agree with R58. It’s tiring that Democrats or liberals make one false move or say the wrong thing and they’re cancelled. Just like that. While republicans or conservatives run off at the mouths with their vile and racist comments and it’s called freedom of speech.

Tiffany was right. Florida is a dick and their governor is fucking stupid.

by Anonymousreply 65November 5, 2022 11:32 AM

Megyn Kelly?

Megyn "Hey kids, Jesus and Santa are white" Kelly said someone else is the most racist person on tv news? (I paraphrase)

She's heard of Tucker Carlson though, right? I mean, she watches him with envy-drool running out of her mouth every night, right? And she looks at herself in the mirror when she puts all that slap on her mug, right?

by Anonymousreply 66November 5, 2022 11:43 AM

Why are gay men in an uproar about what Tiffany and Sunny said?

Faux News is a network which is based on telling lies every damn day. A network started by a foreigner to fracture and destroy the US. Faux News is constantly allowing their vile anchors to lie and name call people they don't agree with. Fucker Carlson lies every day.

Are you Log Cabin assholes serious? Go post somewhere else.

by Anonymousreply 67November 5, 2022 12:22 PM

Who is Ari Meltzer? If you are going to call someone out, get their damn name right.

by Anonymousreply 68November 5, 2022 12:27 PM

Please fire Joy Reid!! She is insufferable!!

by Anonymousreply 69November 5, 2022 12:27 PM

I suspect there is zero chance that her saying "Florida looks like a dick lmao!" is the driving force behind "severed all tires immediately." I excited ly await the further reporting.

by Anonymousreply 70November 5, 2022 12:29 PM

The most idiotic thing she ever said was telling white people they couldn't comment on the Will Smith/Chris Rock slap because it was a 'black people thing' or whatever such nonsense.

by Anonymousreply 71November 5, 2022 12:39 PM

Her Florida comment was probably just the final straw. She likely had a history of inflammatory comments. She can't control herself. She says anything that she thinks with no filter. She needs to star in the next Tyler Perry movie as Madea's mouthy long lost daughter whose sass matches her mother.

by Anonymousreply 72November 5, 2022 12:51 PM

Remember Melitha Harrith Perry? Exactly!

If Tiff doesn't find a high profile gig soon she'll be doing whatever Melitha is doing...or not doing which is probably a more accurate description.

by Anonymousreply 73November 5, 2022 12:56 PM

Bottom line, she got what she deserved. Not only was she inflammatory simply for the sake of boldness, sensationalism & ego, but she consistently assembled a panel, usually including the self-promoting race hustler Elie Myskal, who supported her & expanded further upon her exaggeration of a topic. I don't think her firing had as much to do with her comments she's claiming she got fired for as much as it had to do with her history of making irresponsible commentary. If MSNBC wants to do better than a network like Fox, then it they did the right by severing ties with her, who is really the left equivalent of someone like Rush Limbaugh or Alex Jones. I mean, indicating that white people shouldn't comment on the Will Smith incident at the Oscars because they don't understand how black people react in situations is plain insulting to both white and black people, and extremely irresponsible to how each group is supposed to constructively perceive the other. Cross will ultimately view this as a career milestone, furthering her narration that even black Americans as successful as she has been and who possess the national platform she squandered are still victims, without acknowledging that she undid herself. In her mind, the best thing that could have happened to her was to be victimized for her "blackness" at the hands of "whiteness". It plays right into her brand. But there simply is no use for someone like her in a progressive, forward moving dialogue. She and those who stand on the same soapbox she does are just too counterproductive.

by Anonymousreply 74November 5, 2022 1:14 PM

Tiffany will be lawyered up by Monday.

by Anonymousreply 75November 5, 2022 1:29 PM

Alex Witt is on through 1 pm. It's a plot to make sure no one watches this station ever.

by Anonymousreply 76November 5, 2022 3:11 PM

So Sunny Hostile said, "I read a poll just yesterday that White Republican suburban women are now going to vote Republican. It’s almost like roaches voting for Raid, right?"

Now imagine Meghan McCain or Elisabeth Hasslebeck saying: " I read a poll just yesterday that Floridian Latina women are now going to vote Republican. It’s almost like roaches voting for Raid, right?" Or made the same comparison between Black women voters voting for Herschel Walker ?

How well would that sit with Sunny - or Al Sharpton ?

by Anonymousreply 77November 5, 2022 3:16 PM

Fuck any liberal falling for this fake conservative outrage.

by Anonymousreply 78November 5, 2022 3:17 PM

I agree about Tiff and Sunny but I also agree with those ripping,Fucker Carlson,Sean Vanity and Laura Imaman. Those counts at Fucks are complete bullshit artists. They spew stupidity every night yet there are no repercussions.

by Anonymousreply 79November 5, 2022 3:23 PM

R79, there are no repercussions because Fox aspires to that type of inflammatory, extremist rhetoric. MSNBC, for the most part, does not aspire to that type of rhetoric, so they took the step with removing a source of it on their network. It's not like commentators at Fox get away with it because they get a free pass from society at large. They get a free pass because their employer expects that from them--they're just doing their jobs & accoring to Fox doing them all. Outside of that, plenty of right-wing commentators have gotten what they deserve, the Alex Jones trial is just one example. Also, plenty of those occupying left wing spaces have gotten canceled by the left. Simply do a search of college professors who have gotten axed by "outraged" extremist left-wing students over innocuous comments or language.

by Anonymousreply 80November 5, 2022 3:36 PM

Tiffany thought she was untouchable. Joy had her back at MSNBC, so she thought she was protected. Her ego elevated that status in her head.

But she still has to be professional & no respected anchor would use those words, no matter who they are.

by Anonymousreply 81November 5, 2022 3:36 PM

White liberals playing into the Republicans’ hands who will always shit on them is a huge problem.

by Anonymousreply 82November 5, 2022 3:37 PM

I never understood why Squeaky Voice who is knowledgeable about nothing, got that spot. The rumors when they moved Joy to Chris Matthews' spot was that Zerlina Maxwell would get it and suddenly it goes to the black Betty Boop.

by Anonymousreply 83November 5, 2022 4:39 PM

How did Joy get to the point where she is untouchable?

by Anonymousreply 84November 5, 2022 4:40 PM

If Chris Matthews can get the boot (for fairly innocuous things) no one but Rachel is safe.

by Anonymousreply 85November 5, 2022 4:45 PM

[R84] She's friends with Rev Sharpton - and if MSNBC lets her go, Sharpton will call for street rioting and say her dismissal was 'racist'.

by Anonymousreply 86November 5, 2022 4:49 PM

Sharpton is a total joke and has been since the Tawana Brawley days. Why MSNBC decided to rehabilitate that grifter is inexplicable.

by Anonymousreply 87November 5, 2022 4:53 PM

Her voice is just the worst and I guarantee her comment was not the actual reason she got fired. It was just the excuse they could use.

by Anonymousreply 88November 5, 2022 4:58 PM

I would have thought MSNBC would realize how awful her screeching voice is and sent her to a professional voice coach. She probably refused saying The Boss Man was just trying to silence the strident voice of the Black Sisterhood.

by Anonymousreply 89November 5, 2022 5:00 PM

NBC must be more conservative than ABC who is happy to keep both Whoopi and Sunny on the air despite their racist outbursts.

by Anonymousreply 90November 5, 2022 5:06 PM

More of a Symone fan, but as many have already said upthread, this chick’s voice was intolerable. In true DL wisdom, what got her fired is hourly/daily pablum over at the GRU collective channels (OAN, Faux, & Newsmaxx). There should be one standard for all.

by Anonymousreply 91November 5, 2022 5:47 PM

I would love her to be a guest on Archetypes.

by Anonymousreply 92November 5, 2022 6:04 PM

Joy + Tiffany’s girl posse are pissed on twitter.

by Anonymousreply 93November 6, 2022 7:48 PM

Oddly, Tiffany's firing is not the most important thing in the world. If she's that talented, she'll get a better job.

by Anonymousreply 94November 6, 2022 10:42 PM

R23, well I really don't get why that would get her fired. And exactly what lie was told. As much as I hate the fringe left and I have become more conservative in just my overall worldview it's refreshing to see someone talk poignantly and charismatically about someone who is a problem. There has to be more to it. That was tame; it's an entertainment show for christ sake.

by Anonymousreply 95November 6, 2022 11:14 PM

I honestly cannot say what she was ever talking about. Each time she opened her mouth my ears started bleeding.

by Anonymousreply 96November 6, 2022 11:26 PM

BET should launch a news division.

by Anonymousreply 97November 6, 2022 11:27 PM

Lately, Joy Reid looks like she’s wearing one of George Burns’ hairpieces.

by Anonymousreply 98November 7, 2022 1:55 AM

Is Joy bald? It seems impossible otherwise she could wear toupees without real hair peeking out.

by Anonymousreply 99November 7, 2022 4:45 AM

Tiffany should never have said Florida was a dick, that's not really much of an insult. Dicks are perfectly fine, [bold]being a dick is something else. Tiffany didn't word in correctly. [/bold]

Tiffany should have called Florida the unwashed armpit of the US or the crusty unwashed asshole of the US. You know, really get to the point.

by Anonymousreply 112November 15, 2022 11:18 PM

I hope Tiffany takes advantage of her time off to go on a diet. Very tubby she is. She also needs to go to a voice coach and do something about her Betty Boop voice.

by Anonymousreply 113November 16, 2022 12:11 AM

She and her agent are figuring out her next move. I would not expect her to think her dismissal had anything to do with her shortcomings. She isn't tubby, just buxom and cursed with poor wardrobe choices.

by Anonymousreply 114November 16, 2022 12:32 AM

She actually looks and dresses like Betty Boop as well as having her voice.

by Anonymousreply 115November 16, 2022 1:40 AM
