Halloween Candy Has Gone Up 14%

Candy prices are estimated to be 14% higher than last year, according to a recent report from S&P Global Market Intelligence. That’s the highest increase since the firm started tracking Halloween candy prices in 1999.

How will you be able afford to buy your Halloween Candy this year due to the increase costs

Please discuss this most important topic, as Halloween is just around the corner

In my condo I don't get kids, and I don't eat Halloween candy, so, not a problem for me.

by Anonymousreply 2October 29, 2022 2:23 AM

So don't eat it.

Marshmallows are still cheap. I'm stuffing my lard hole with Mars bars right now, then will refill the empty wrappers and seal with tape. They can tp my house all they want, it's a rental.

I spent over 70 bucks and I still feel like I don't have enough...I'm just turning the porch light off when I run out.

I almost bought a bag of Paydays at RitecAid but motherfuckers were eleven something!

by Anonymousreply 6October 29, 2022 2:36 AM

It’s the same price at Target that it always is. Enough with the fear mongering OP.

It is so nice that you spent so much on Candy for the kids R5

by Anonymousreply 8October 29, 2022 2:40 AM

My cheap aunt would buy a bag of marshmallows at the dollar store and give out a single marshmallow to each kid.

by Anonymousreply 9October 29, 2022 2:42 AM

That IS cheap, R9!

by Anonymousreply 10October 29, 2022 2:45 AM

Parents today would throw out that marshmallow as it is not wrapped

One Halloween, I went all-out and bought those little bags. I put at least two chocolate-based candies in each bag. IIRC, Twix and something else.

Now, I live in a neighborhood where kids don't come knocking on the door.

r10, that sounds like something Auntie Fee would have done.

anyone else?

by Anonymousreply 14October 31, 2022 1:16 AM

Fat whores!

I didn't notice the price increase but the size of the candy has shrunk. The bite size ones (I give a fistful of them) are teeny tiny. I bought one variety bag just for the almond joys. I think I'll have to make another run because I realized that I don't have any m&ms or gummies. And why don't they make small bags of candy corn? I like to have some non chocolate offerings. Many of my neighbors don't celebrate so if the little punks come to my house, I like to reward them.

R16 I know I had bought a big bag of the mini bags of the Brach’s Candy Corn last year.
