Derren Litten is getting the Garveys back together this November for a fan convention weekend at the Solana. As guests he has all the Garveys, both hotel managers, aging twink crooner Asa Elliot and Litten’s, to my eyes, husband Jake “Mateo” Canuso all for £145.
I would go if they’d gotten Janine Duvitiski and Lesley in his drag so maybe next year.

Tickets include 10am-6pm daily panels with actors and crew in the Sol Pelicanas hotel (aka the Solana Hotel) karaoke every afternoon in Neptune’s Bar, and a Sunday night gala at the world-famous Benidorm Palace.
I think Litten really got into show business just so that he could put karaoke in everything. It played a major role in Benidorm, on his show “Scarborough” it had large role as well and he played the karaoke host. He also hosts the karaoke nights at his Mateo’s bar that he opened in Benidorm after he retired from shoe business.

I saw where he was planning to open Mateo's when the pandemic hit and then it was up in the air. I'm glad to hear he got it going after all!

R3, that’s what makes me think they are a couple. Jake makes frequent appearances at the bar, which makes me think he lives in Benidorm with Litten.

I watched it during the pandemic and mentioned it to a British friend, who said it's the equivalent of "Mama's Family" over there — a guilty pleasure at best.

R6, I don’t doubt they said that but they are different. Benidorm was nominated for a BAFTA for best comedy. Mama’s Family was not critically-acclaimed.

Ugh. My mum and sister watch this and think it’s the funniest thing ever. I tapped out after two episodes. I know it’s supposed to be about trashy people, but… I dunno - all the idiocy and tackiness the characters display is just too sad for me to handle.
