Do you have a favorite brand of lotion?

I am an avid fan of Eucerin—I haven't used a lotion or skincare product of theirs that I didn't like. Simple, inexpensive, no frills, and they actually do what they claim to.

Weleda Skin Food.

Since I live in a cold climate and have dry skin, there are days in Jan/Feb when I'll just put straight Vaseline on my face/hands.

It’s in the basket.

R1 I’ve used one of their lotions/creams before and find them overpowering in their scent—I think they’re loaded with essential oils. I like a light fragrance, but the scent of the cream I used by them was too strong for me. If I want to drop some cash, I’ll occasionally buy a jar of the L’Occitane body cream, which is mostly shea butter-based and has a light scent similar to baby powder. It smells pleasant and really softens my hands (I also live in a climate with rough winters). I’ve also been known to use Vaseline or Bag Balm, but only if I absolutely need to—the sticky occlusive feeling of it really bugs me and it gets on everything. I have the same issue with the original Nivea cream, which works really well and smells good, but it’s just so fucking greasy.

Eucerin ? You know what you sound to me with your cheap lotion ? You sound like a rube. A well scrubbed, hustling rube with a little taste. Good nutrition has given you some length of bone, but you're not more than one generation from poor white trash, are you, OP ? And that accent you've tried so desperately to shed? Pure West Virginia. What's your father, dear? Is he a coal miner? Does he stink of the lamb? You know how quickly the boys found you... all those tedious sticky fumblings in the back seats of cars... while you could only dream of getting out... getting anywhere... getting all the way to the Datalounge.

Kiehl's Creme de Corps Body Lotion The fucking best - Buy it when it goes on sale once a year HUGE size

by Anonymousreply 5October 22, 2022 5:25 AM

I just bought a $2 tube of Dermasil Aloe Fresh from the dollar store the other day and, I swear, it's the best lotion I've used in a long time. Not greasy. Works. Smells light and fresh. And, having just looked it up to get the name right, I'm going to go get some more because other places seem to charge around $5-8 a tube. Love dollar stores for stuff like this!

Burts Bees

Yes the Weleda Skin Food is very strong smelling, and it's essential oils. I generally hate strongly scented soaps, detergents etc. but the Skin Food and the Dr Bronners Sal Suds (which smells of high quality fir essential oil) I love.

Kiehls, amlactin for dark spots on knees.

by Anonymousreply 9October 22, 2022 5:33 AM

CeraVe..makes me so soft and good for my face too

by Anonymousreply 10October 22, 2022 5:34 AM

Aveeno, the colloidal oatmeal one. After getting the COVID vaccine, I developed a skin/nerve issue on my feet and this is the one that gives me a bit of relief.

by Anonymousreply 11October 22, 2022 5:48 AM

Amlactin. After a few weeks my skin has REALLY improved! DO NOT have a wank with it though- it burns the peepee hole...... Its got lactic acid in it.

by Anonymousreply 12October 22, 2022 6:00 AM

R12 Amlactin smells like cat piss, but it does really work effectively at exfoliating and softening the skin. Good for keratosis pilaris too, but not as good as a urea-based lotion in my experience. Urea is a powerhouse ingredient for moisturizing in general, and it's a naturally-occurring component of the skin barrier.

Its a strange, bovine smell to me...... Ive asked friends if they smell it & they dont..

by Anonymousreply 14October 22, 2022 7:21 AM

My SO always says he's the only Jurgen's lotion I need. Whenever I complain of chapped hands, etc; he ejaculates and gets a kick out of watching me apply his "lotion" into my chapped face and hands.

Naked Body Butter by Bliss. It’s very good for your skin, as is Alpha Skincare Renewal Body Lotion 12% Glycolic Acid.

Kiehl’s is crap.

Also, try to get unscented lotion. Fragrance isn’t skin care and can be sensitizing.

I know of which I speak.

Dermasil is great for dry skin, and dirt cheap.

by Anonymousreply 17October 22, 2022 7:29 AM

I like Lubriderm. Been using it since I was a teen. And I keep a bottle of Jergen's cherry almond by my chair in the living room. Not into the expensive stuff, but...

One year for Christmas I got a Shalimar gift set. Besides the eau de toilette it had Shalimar scented lotion and powder. I'd love to have that again except in L'Heure bleue.

CeraVe Eye Repair cream is quite good for the price ($12 usd or so) with an application of twice a day for at least two weeks. .

by Anonymousreply 20October 22, 2022 7:53 AM

Gold Bond. I just haven't found a better lotion.

by Anonymousreply 21October 22, 2022 8:00 AM

R16 I don't know if I'd say Kiehl's is crap, but it's way overpriced. I do like their "Ultra Facial" cream and am willing to drop $50 on a jar because 1) my skin responds well to it; 2) it's for the benefit of my face; and 3) a jar lasts me several months, at least. That being said, I can't bring myself to spend that kind of money on a body lotion. Their "Creme de corps" is egregiously expensive.
